Relaxing in bed after a rough day on the job makes coming home to this Samsung all the worthwhile. Disappointing. 4K TV picture. poor colors, blurry picture and at times dims for no reason. Low refresh rate (60) which is different than listed motion Rate (120). I had it for one week. I will ask bestBuy if I can exchanged with a more expensive 4K TV. Maybe I will get a better picture. The design is slim which is nice and that's the only positive thing I can think of. Purchasing process and shipping experience was excellent.

I had initially purchased the 60 inch 4K Samsung tv but Best Buy didn't deliver it when they were supposed to and didn't call and tell me until the day it was supposed to be there so I cancelled it. I ended up going to Costco and got a better deal on the 55 inch 4K curved Samsung but then they screwed up my delivery date as well on the 4th and didn't tell me until the day they were supposed to deliver it, so I also cancelled that one!! I came BACK to Best Buy and saw this 55 inch 4K for only $699.99!! A better deal than my initial 2 Samsung Tvs I had previously ordered and they were going to deliver it to me 2 days later on the 6th!! I had to bag this up cuz this was a darn good deal for a 55 inch 4K SAMSUNG!! When we FINALLY got it on the 6th of August like they promised me since they messed up my 1st order I was truly happy because I had saved $400 cuz the 60 inch 4K Samsung was $1,049 so I couldn't complain, when the guy brought the box in I was like "Dang are you sure this isn't the 60 inch?" He laughed and was like yea, I couldn't believe how big it was, made me happy that I didn't get that 60 inch even though it only would've been 2 1/2 more inches diagonally. When my son turned the tv on it spoke and said "HELLO!!" We looked at each other and laughed then were squinting our eyes because it was so bright, we started watching Straight Outta Compton and felt like we were in the movie with the Eazy E character. We couldn't believe it, we hooked up our wireless mouse and wireless keyboard to it and our Apple TV that I had bought for it and hooked up the Xbox One S. I had these 3 boxes sitting in our living room waiting for the arrival of our 4K tv so we could hook everything up to it and boy was my son even HAPPIER that I made him wait to hook up his newer Xbox One S and not use it on his old tv in his room, the graphics were far more superb in 4K. I have DirecTv but I didn't want to pay for another cable box so I attached my rabbit ears antenna and got AMAZING channels over the air and was happy without the cable plus Samsung has all the movie apps that I was able to download to the tv to stream over my house WiFi such as HBO GO, Showtime Anytime, Starz and Encore then the Apple TV had the other apps that I could download from the App Store so cable isn't even needed on that tv. My son has the Amazon FireTv stick in his room plus his Xbox One S has the exact same apps as the Samsung tv, Amazon FireTv stick and Apple TV so we technically have 3 streaming devices that we can use to watch the movie apps from our 1 DirecTv box and stream with our WiFi. I am so happy I made this purchase and got it on the 12 month financing for only $69.99/mo but that will be paid off within a month just like I did my new stainless steel refrigerator that I bought on May 24th for $980.99 and had 18 month financing for only $54.99/mo and paid it off in full within 5 weeks, so I'll do the same with the tv. When I get a newer one for my bedroom I only plan on buying a 43 inch for less than $400 and then give my Sanyo flat screen to my son in his room and then his old 32 inch big back RCA tv will be a spare for the house as a back up for "just in case" something happen to one of the flat screen Tvs.

I got this TV a couple days ago. Setup was very simple. The SMART features run fast and smooth unlike my old 4k tv. Difference between the Samsung ku6290 and the ore expensive ku6300 is the 6300 has bluetooth and a fancier remote. To me that's not worth the extra 100 dollars. Everything else between the two is the same. PS4PRO looks great on it. I fired up some Amazon 4k HDR shows like Goliath. Can tell the difference with HDR. I watched it with and without HDR. Even though the TV doesnt meet the 1000 nits required for spec HDR10(almost no tv can sustain this)it STILL makes a difference and makes the lighting look natural and vibrant. Price drop a day later was a nice bonus too LOL.

This is a perfectly good entry level 4K tv. Sound was better than expected, smart features impressed as well. My expectations were pretty low but the apps seem solid and are a step up from what was on my gen 2 Apple TV. Only gripe is that it's really a 60 hz refresh display despite the label saying 120 (software enhanced). Shut off the annoying motion smoothing and it does jitter a bit with motion over complex backgrounds like trees or textures on clothing. It's tolerable, but picky viewers will see it. Color is great and it's plenty bright. Remote is actually good considering how few buttons it has but the volume and channel buttons are a bit loud and clicky.

I bought this tv over the Memorial day holiday and got an awesome price because of a sale that they were having the day I walked into research 4K TVs. I typically read up a lot and look at a lot of options before I finally make the decision to purchase but the salesman at Best Buy was so helpful and the price was unbeatable, $699 on sale for a regular price of $999. It may not have all the features of a higher end 4K TV such as HDR and some of the other picture enhancing technologies that make the more expensive TVs cost well over $1000 but from what I can tell the picture is very good. The upscaling on this TV works very well. Even my standard definition over the air channels look pretty good. It had three HDMI ports which was a plus however one of the things that I didn't like was that the composite and component inputs are shared so you can have either a component video or a composite video but you cannot have both. One of the other things I was not happy about was the lack of a PC input (i.e. VGA). This was not such a big deal since one of my previous HDMI inputs was used by my Roku unit. Since this is a smart TV I do not have a need for the Roku device which frees up an HDMI connection for my laptop. The sound on this TV seems to be quite adequate as well. Previous TVs I have purchased have had poor sound quality but with this TV I don't have a need to hook up a sound bar to enhance the sound. The 55 inch size is also very nice. My other large TV is a 40 inch TV and the extra real estate on this screen is great to have. It makes me want to watch TV even when the weather is nice outside. It will be great to have this winter when it's not so great outside. One last negative which is really not that big of a deal but the remote that comes with the TV is over simplified with very few buttons, leaving you to navigate menus similar to a Roku remote control. Luckily I have had numerous Samsung TVs and my old remotes work with this TV as well. I would definitely recommend this TV especially if you can get it at a price less than $999 asking price. The way newer 4K TVs are coming out and pushing the price down on earlier models this should not be a problem.

Not being the most versed in these types of TVs (own 1 six year old 46" plasma and an assortment of CRTs), I had to do some research as we were wanting a new set for our family room. Wasn't wanting to spend a lot, but still get a TV w/ good ratings and would hopefully have a smooth picture for sports. I wasn't planning on buying one yet, but I pulled the trigger when I found a local open-box option at a significantly discounted price. To be honest, I prefer the picture on our plasma, but since that wasn't an option I believe that this was the best picture for our money. The remote takes a little bit of getting used to w/o the traditional number keypad, but we've adapted. We cut the cable, so we receive our network programming via antenna and it works well. I like the Guide view for seeing what programs are on, just like satellite or cable offer. The only issue is that it sometimes freezes up for a moment as we navigate through. I've also noticed on occasion that the picture sometimes freezes for a nano-second from our antenna viewing, not sure if that is due to our signal or a common LED issue. Haven't noticed the issue when viewing via our Roku. The stand provided with the TV seems flimsy, at least compared to our Panasonic, but I suppose most folks hang these on the wall these days. Hook up was pretty straightforward and simple, aside of the older rca cable plug in. They provide an adapter for plugging in this format to its single input, but I learned after a bit of trial and error (a lack of understanding from Samsung's online chat help) that the picture will only be black & white if you plug in both of the adapters on the back instead of just one. No sound bar at the moment, but the volume has been fine for what we have used it for so far.

One of the Best TVs I've Owned So Far

Excellent picture quality, especially when paired with compatible 4K devices. 1080p Blu-ray discs upscale incredibly well, tested with films such as The Dark Knight, Birdman, The Godfather, and more. Colors are vibrant, black levels are deepest and most consistent I've seen in a TV since I owned a Panasonic plasma. Smart apps such as Netflix and Amazon Video are stable and work well with my 6MB internet connection.
Menus and settings are simple, but the basic remote this TV ships with makes navigation a bit slow and tedious at times. Sound quality from built in speakers is okay, but I would recommend connecting external speakers or a sound system if possible.

This is the latest of several Samsung TV's we have purchased over the years. Like all the rest this one rocks. The TV is extremely clear, the colors are vibrant. Set up is easy. It weighs nothing so install isn't to much of a hassle either - but don't do it alone. The size makes it a little awkward to handle. I have appreciated the ease of use when it comes to setting up online accounts.
Drawbacks - 1) inputs, Samsung has decided that every port should be awkwardly placed on one side of the TV meaning you have to strategically plan their placement before you set it up. FYI, make sure your cables are long enough. If your hanging the TV on the wall you WILL have to plug the cables in before you hang it on the mount. Why? Because there is no room behind the TV for your hand - unless your a seven year old child - and they don't know where anything is supposed to plug in. UGH! At this point you have to face a single fact - unless your a contortionist you will need an extra set of hands to do this - maybe two sets of extra hands. 2) Adding cables and services after you hang it - forget it! You better have a really technical kid in your neighborhood who can help you. I miss my old TV where the extra ports were right on the edge - easy to access. 3) Remote - the remote is strangely cool and nauseating. Samsung has provided a much simpler remote with a multi-function pointing button in the center. My wife has given up on understanding it and I have decided my kids can just own the living room now. I'll use the 42" Samsung in my office with a real remote. 4) App store - this is perhaps the most ridiculous aspect of this TV. It is quick to connect and set up but they never seem to have the apps I want. This is picky - but research what you use for apps and make sure it supports/offers it.
Recommendations: Great TV. Buy it. Good for everyone - except those that plan to hang it and then want their buddies to bring over a game system to plug in. If that is your plan then connect up a couple of extra cables and leave them where you can reach them.

This TV was on sale for $550 55inch early this year. It was the perfect price for my budget and I have absolutely no complains. This would be great for any typical person. Unless you one of those people who needs to fine tune their entire entertainment system, tweek the contrast and all the settings to make it the perfect setup, you will have no complains (it might be good for that type of person too). I have this part of my surround system and have enjoyed it with no signs of any technical issues.

I had a 12 year old plasma tv that needed to be replaced. if i could have fixed that pioneer plasma i would not be in this forum. I felt like i lost a family member when i lost that pioneer! I was skeptical about this samsung tv and how it would work for me. It was so light weight and looked so flimsy, but most things made today are like that. I listened and read about the 4k with 8/10 pixel coverage vs 10/10 coverage and i cant say I understood everything. I went for the deal because of the price and I am pleased with the tv so far. If this tv can survive the same life as my plasma i will be happy. I did purchase the 5 year plan for the tv since i got a great deal on the set. The tv is not as bright as my plasma but the picture quality is good. The volume is okay for me but not so much for my hard of hearing dad.The remote is like a joy stick and looks pretty weak so a universal remote or something along that line may be a good idea. So far so good and it has only been about 3 months so my story is still pretty early. You can see some of the 4k stuff on amazon and netflix. There is no 4k requirement anymore for cable or satellite so we are drifting in the wind on that issue. I think folks can get away with a cheaper tv with 760p or 1080p for the next few years, but if you can score a deal on this samsung i think it may be worth it. Lets just see how it goes for the rest of the year
