This is one GREAT TV, easy to set up and a joy to watch! The only factory setting I changed was to turn off the screen dimming feature. I thought my 2-year-old HDTV had a super picture although the sound wasn't very good, but this Samsung UN55KU6290FXZA has a truly wonderful picture and the sound is as good as you can get. The on-sale price was right in the area I was considering, and overall I feel that I made a perfect purchase. I'll try to remember to do a future update if anything changes.

There's a lot to like about this TV. Picture quality is very good, especially lower-definition sources that have to be upscaled - which is almost everything, since 4k content is not widely available. I watch a lot of DVDs and they look great on this TV. My A/V receiver has built in video processing to upscale to 4k so I compared that to the scaling built into the TV, and the TV's performance was slightly better.
There are only two minor drawbacks which may or may not be important to you (they are not to me in my particular situation) - the horizontal viewing angle is relatively narrow with a lot of brightness fall-off as you move left or right of the screen. And the "Smart TV" features are great and fast but don't include a Plex client so I use a Roku 2 with my Plex server. Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. work well.
For the price you get very good performance and great features.

This TV definitely stands out from its entry-level 4K peers. I truly enjoy the crystal clear pictures it brings every time, which basically turns my bland living room into a super-HD-video showroom. I haven't had a chance to fine tune the color setting, but the preset "natural" mode comes out great already, with a very balanced color and light. The sound is great, too. See my picture showing a 4K video on youtube, how vibrant!

Compared this TV in store with an LG (fan of the LG for years) both looked great, crystal clear picture, but I went with the Samsung as the salesman stated Samsung would do better with a bright room and glare. So far has been great, love the smart TV features, color, etc. not happy about the Tru Motion rate as I thought 1080, 120 was the better option and learned it was Samsung’s way of marketing the 120, however does not seem to be an issue so far.

Pros: excellent picture, brighter than any tv I've ever owned. 4K with HDR looks very realistic. Gaming is fine if your using the "Game Mode". A great selection of Smart Apps. Speakers are decent, I still use a sound bar. Upscaling of 720 and 1080 look great. I haven't tried any 480 content.
Cons: Right out the box Apps and over the air tv do not send any sound to the sound bar connected via digital optical cable. This can be fixed in settings. Screen judder is bad right out the box, this can be corrected in settings by turn "Motion Plus" on. There is also a judder reduction setting. I still notice it from time to time. I had to factory reset the tv right out the box in order to get smart hub working glitch free, it's been fine since. It does not come with a universal remote.
All-in-all it's a good lower priced 4K HDR TV. I purchased for $529, after $250 off (Super Bowl sale) and two $10 off any purchase coupons. For the price I paid it can't be beat.

I had been keeping an eye out for a good sale on a decent 4k TV for a few months. I need the 4k display primarily so I can monitor 4k content when I'm editing. But I also wanted smart TV features so I could enjoy streaming content in my office without needing a cable connection/box.
Originally I bought a 40" LG unit that I bought spur of the moment. It didn't compare at all with the 4k images I've seen on the pro-level 4k monitors at work. It ends up that the entry level LG units utilize a RGBW pixel structure (red-green-blue-white). That's why the image didn't look sharp enough but it was fairly bright. Every 4th pixel is simply making the image brighter but adds no image detail. I also realized that 40" wasn't sufficient for my needs.
The KU6300 series (KU6290) Samsung's reviewed well and looked great when I checked them out in person. They still aren't at the pro level, and they aren't that bright, but they are amazing for the money. The higher-end models seemed identical to pro-level monitors, and they are bright enough to really give you true HDR performance. But they are much more money and I won't spend that much on technology that's changing so fast.
The KU6300 is the right TV right now for very little money if you get a sale. It has a wide viewing angle. The smart features work better than any TV I've used. I love how fast the TV turns on and that it brings you back to where you were last viewing (even if you were using an app). The sound is good for built-in speakers. Using the right settings, you can send a 12-bit signal from a PC video card, but the TV's panel is only 10-bit. So the resulting image does have some noticeable banding in color gradients. But most people won't notice this.
I can't comment on all the gimmicky features like "smooth motion" and other things that generally make the image worse, not better. The first thing I do when I get a new TV is to turn all that stuff off and look up some ideal image settings on the interwebs. I also calibrate the monitor for use with my PC, so that the image is accurate for post-production work.
The biggest difference between the 6300 and the 6290 is that the 6290 has a stripped down remote that uses just a few buttons and a directional pad for everything. I have no problem with that for my use. But if it was my main TV, a universal remote would be needed.

So, I've been lurking online for a new tv for about 6 months now. I was undecided between a 55" or 60" samsung.
Best Buy had it on sale for $799, and i just couldnt pass it up.
Setup was a breeze. The smarthub apps are easy to use. The 4k picture is brilliant. And to be honest, it kind of threw me off at first. It's so clear it almost appears 3D.
I've since synced my galaxy s6 phone to it, so i can use my phone as a remote.
If you're in the market for a new tv, look no further. For price AND quality it doesn't get any better.

This is an incredible TV, especially for the price. I didn't really think I would notice a difference between full HD and 4k, but the image is so vibrant and sharp. What really drove me to this TV were the Smart-TV apps, they just work so well, AND it had all the apps that I needed (Amazon, HBO Go, Starz, etc).
The only complaint I have is that the remote is very minimalistic, the buttons are dark and they don't light up. So using this thing in the dark is cumbersome. You can use Samsung's SmartView app on an android or apple device and it makes it a little more user friendly.

Our 8 year old Samsung LED began failing and needed replacing. I like watching video (TV, Movies, etc) on a TV, not a tablet or phone. I considered a newer, more expensive model. The low price for and screen size are the main reasons I purchased this TV. It is an older model (2015/16) left over from Black Friday last year. We really like the screen size, and the Smart TV functionality compliments our AppleTV. We don't watch much live TV, and stream nearly everything, including after-airing TV series and Disney/Nickelodeon TV shows on AppleTV/Roku apps. The Samsung Hub Plex app connects directly to my (mac mini) home Server which is very convenient. We only get 4K picture quality while streaming limited Amazon videos (app). Netflix charges US$2 more per month for 4K streaming and I refuse to pay out of principle.
Pros: Price. Quick processor. Excellent 4K/UHD picture (on Amazon Video app). Video upscaling and 1080i/1080p is really good too. Fairly decent app hub (Plex, Amazon Video, HBO Go, Netflix, YouTube Kids) Great for use with our PS4 at night. Remote functionality if you are tech savvy. Samsung AnyNet+ controls DirecTV and AppleTV.
Cons: Terrible glare in well lighted room. Samsung AnyNet+ connectivity to devices is too finicky and unreliable. Remote's lack of number buttons and UI is too complicated for non-tech savvy people. Remote has limited functionality as a DirecTV remote. Remote does not work with Bose Cinemate external system (almost a deal breaker and return). Samsung App Hub is lacking apps that are relative to our overall streaming needs. TV regularly loses connectivity to wifi (that could be due to our new Orbi). Stand does not swivel and is flimsy (almost a deal breaker and return). Very limited 4K/UHD channels available on Amazon Video, DirecTV (ok, only 2 pay-per-view), etc. so it is a wasted feature there so far.
I would only recommend this TV to tech-savvy friends and those who are frugal. The Remote and UI are just too complicated for people that are accustomed to traditional remotes with numbers.
** Side note rant: my intent was to purchase this TV, cut the cord and stream DirecTV Now, Sling, or the new Xfininty streaming service that is still in its infancy in 2 cities (not ours). I called DirecTV to cancel satellite service and they bent over backwards to keep us. We're now paying $44 / mo with free HD & an HD DVR, and pay $32 for 55Mbs with Xfinity. We still have Amazon Video (for prime free 2-day shipping) and Netflix, I've dropped my monthly entertainment expenses by US$68 (42%). I'm Samsung Hub or AppleTV can get a streaming app with DVR capability, my monthly expenses will drop even further

Has exceeded my expectations thus far in quality. 4K picture quality, sound, hookup, and the added features all make this a well-rounded TV. It had been 10 years since my last TV purchase and the wait was definitely worth it. For the price and quality, now is the time to get a high quality TV on a budget. The best TV buy I have ever made. No downsides thus far but I am by no means a technology expert so consider this review coming from someone that watches TV on the weekends and plays a Nintendo game occasionally.

I have recently become a TV watcher. Binging on Netflix has become a weekend luxury. My old Samsung smart tv had become outdated. Shopping thru pre Black Friday ads started tempting me to find out more about the new TV features out there. First of the price was wonderful...but the features and especially the clean crisp colors truly made me stoked about having this new set. I have had Samsung tv for almost 10yrs so I had to remain loyal to the brand. There is nothing disappointing about this 55in Ultra 4K smart tv!

The samsung UN55KU6290FXZA is an excellent 4k tv at a great price. The only thing it doesn't have is Bluetooth. I can do without that no problem. It boots up Netflix fast and runs their 4k original shows great. My internet connection is up to 25mbps (Xfinity performance). My 2 cents on picture settings: l like a bright picture. Starting with the movie settings did not work for me. I started with the standard setting and went from there. Settings>System>eco solutions -turned everything off. Picture>expert settings-Turned off digital clean view, auto motion plus settings and film mode. Hdmi uhd color left off. Pictures of the rest if my settings in this review. Again my personal preference after 3 days of messing with it. So far I really love this tv.

I bought this TV right before the Super Bowl. It was a "new" Best Buy exclusive, which means it was a standard Samsung product with a few features stripped out. In this case it is bluetooth.
The picture on this unit is great, the programming is easy. Streaming is very good, especially with the new update. The remote is my only gripe, very spartan. It takes some getting used too, but once you do, it is more than functional. Overall, at the price, I could not imagine a better deal right now. I took off one star for the remote and the out of box requirement for a software upgrade.

Okay so this is basically how this works:
-If you have a terrible TV, a really old one, or a broken one, and you don't have $1000-$1200 to spend on a tv, this will be a decent but as long as you don't have high expectations from the 4K aspect of it.
-if you have $1000 to spend, do NOT get this TV because you suddenly want to save money.
I bought myself the 65 inch Samsung 8000 series (the Black Friday one) for $1300, and I have been absolutely in love with it. I bought THIS tv for a friend, and no joke I have seen a HUGE degredation in quality between the two. I thought "ya know, a few hundred dollars less, it'll probably be a LITTLE less quality, but still great!" Nope. Picture refresh rate is too slow for 4K material, it almost makes my eyes hurt trying to constantly focus (picture is always blurred during movement). Blacks are staggeringly broken up (you can see individual layers of shades instead of blended), the picture itself is pretty pixelated, even for 4K content. The smart tv is decent, but YouTube and Netflix don't work half the time (could be a Samsung thing though, I don't have problems with mine fyi).
Now, with that said, the sound is actually really decent on it. There's not HDR so it doesn't have the quality vividness it should, but the picture customization can kind of mitigate that issue. She went from a 40 inch HDTV, so for her the picture is outstanding, and the size is incredible, and that's where I'm getting at.
Overall, for $700 this TV is huge, and he quality of the picture isn't bad. It won't be great by any means, but if you're the type of person that isn't a videophile and doesn't care about the nuances of video quality, then this TV will be perfect for you to stay updated with modern technology. But if you're like me and want to get the most bang for your buck, I'd recommend saving a few hundred dollars more, and get a TV that puts out a far better picture and squeezes more potential out of the money you dropped.

by default (energy saver mode), the screen is a bit dim however other modes are bright and vivid. the sound is very good especially the clear voice mode for sit-coms. the smart features are responsive and stable -- tv app's have not frozen once. the remote is simple with just a few buttons and no keyboard; it does cover the bases but feels a little too basic when entering text.
