I used to own a LG 1080p 47" tv, but after upgrading to this Samsung 55" 4K TV I am SUPER happy. But before I go on, when you click on Specifications and where it says High Dynamic Range and it says No, that is dead WRONG. I have this EXACT model and it DOES have HDR. its in the Settings under Picture and then under Expert Settings you have to scroll down a bit and you will see where it will say HDR+ Mode and you have the option to turn it on or off depending on source of what youre currently watching. So Best Buy's website is WRONG when it says it doesn't have HDR when it indeed DOES have it. In FACT, I have a PS4, no not the Pro, I also have a Xbox One S, again not the One X and on my PS4 when I played Uncharted 4 or The Last of Us: Remastered or even Horizon Zero Dawn, id either get a message that popped up saying something like "your tv supports HDR would you like to enable it" or id have to go into the games visual display settings or display settings and turn it on. And my God do the games look amazing. And the cool thing also, is that since this is a UDH (4K) you can turn on UDH on ALL the HDMI ports. Which is awesome. And theres a LOT of settings and things to fiddle around with to figure out what works best with whatever youre watching. And knowing this is a Smart TV to boot along side its dual wifi internet settings or Lan cable if you prefer, I love being able to watch Netflix and watch 4K videos on YouTube cuz this tv also has those apps. Also this tv turns on SUPER fast and turns off fast which is awesome. And I also love how theres three sound options to choose from: "Standard" which sounds VERY flat and muffled. "Optimized" which is what I love and prefer sounds like surround sound almost. And then theres "Amplify" which I think amplifies the voices I'm not sure. ANYWAYS its an amazing tv and an awesome Smart TV and I did a little review of the tv on my YouTube channel GTX970 with the title Samsung 55" 4k TV W/HDR (my little review). Feel free to ask whatever you want about tv if you aren't sure about something. Hope this review helps. Such an awesome purchase and the colors are beautiful. Worth every penny spent.

Have had this tv since Jun 2018. Outside of issues with controlling sound and unable to pair with our phones or Bluetooth, TV has performed well. Ready for an upgrade and sad it’s only lasts a few years. TVs are not built the same as they were in the past to last.

For the price, this TV is perfect. It gives you access to 4K HDR content, and like all other 2017 samsung tvs supports the newer HDR10+ standard (currently only available from Amazon Prime Streaming). I picked this up open box for 400, couldn't pass it up. Performance The brightness, color saturation, and color accuracy are all very good on this TV, IF you calibrate it correctly. Set your color temperature to warm 2, turn off all of the nonsense settings like contrast enhancer and MR 120, that's just introducing more noise into the signal that you do not need. The only real shortcomings with this display are as follows. The viewing angle on this TV isn't particularly good. The further off angle you are sitting, think off center, the worse the image becomes. This is not an OLED display, so off angle viewing means colors get washed out and the image brightens in a very disappointing way. Some tvs have better viewing angles than this one but it's not horrible for the price. The grey balance on this tv isn't the best. There are hotspots, think darker areas of the screen where a solid single-toned grey image will darken. This has to do with any number of factors including backlight performance and variations in the LCD panel itself. It's not terrible, and it will vary from set to set, but if you're very sensitive to this sort of thing maybe keep saving up for an OLED display. Those two caveats aside this set performs very well. Native 4k content (HDR and regular) look outstanding coming from both a streaming service and 4k disc. Sadly 1080p content from broadcast looks sort of terrible. This is partially due to the fact that broadcast 1080p isn't great to begin with, but also partially a shortcoming of the scaler in this TV. The sad fact is that no new TVs have decent 1080p upscaling anymore. It's just not a feature manufacturers care about. In fact they'd prefer that 1080p content look as bad as possible so that they can push you further into a 4k ecosystem. Until broadcasters catch up, this will be disappointing. All of the built-in apps I've used have worked flawlessly. Netflix, Prime, Hulu, YouTube, HBOGO, Vudu, Starz all run perfectly. I don't really have anything else to add except that watching Netflix and Prime in 4k HDR makes me resent everyone else that's streaming exclusively in 1080p. Savages ... The interface is fairly well thought out on this tv, but you have to go into the general settings in order to enable HDR color. This is crazy as this setting should be under the picture controls like everything else. If you don't turn this on, you won't be getting the full HDR experience. AND it has to be enabled on every input that's carrying an HDR signal. Weird choice samsung. The build quality of this TV is pretty standard. It's very slim and lightweight. The bezel around the panel is very slim as well but it's plastic that has this faux brushed aluminum finish that just feels chintzy. It's highly reflective and I'd much rather it had a matte black bezel instead. The stand is average as well, it's the industry standard V-shaped stand that's been commonplace for the past few years. On a set this size I would have preferred individual feet at the edges of the display for added stability. While not heavy the way the stand connects at the center bottom point of the TV means the set has a fair amount of wobble to it. It just feels more precarious than I'd like. Mounting is always of course an option but that's more invasive and permanent than I'd like. This set has a decent number of inputs but nothing extraordinary. You're going to find it increasingly difficult to connect older devices to modern TVs and this is reflected in the lack of older inputs here. This only has 3 HDMI inputs which in 2017 isn't enough. Even the highest end TVs that cost thousands more than this have only 4, I'll never understand this. It's very common for people to have a sat/cable box, blu-ray player, gaming console(s), and streaming box connected at the same time. 3 HDMI inputs simply aren't enough. I'd really like to see this terrible industry trend change. Overall I'd say this is an excellent set. The features and performance you're getting at this price point are very tough to beat. If you can find a flash sale or buy one open box (in new condition) I'd recommend it. Best Buy offers service plans on all open box items and they are worth it. I was very lucky to find this for 399 open box in completely perfect condition. The set still had some of the original packing on it when I picked it up. Get it if you can, the cheaper the better.

I bought this TV on Black Friday which seemingly is the same time most people did. I was hesitant on purchasing this TV, but in the end I am glad I did. I have had Samsung TV's in the past and expected it to be a pretty decent TV. For the price, this TV hits a home run! Setup was fast and pretty straight forward. The TV smart features are pretty good and I did initially stream a movie on the Netflix native app at 4K resolution with no hiccups. However Samsung doesn't provide a few of the apps that Roku and Apple Tv do on their platforms. Because of this (we are cord cutters) I found myself looking to upgrade our Apple TV4 to take advantage of the 4K capabilities of the TV. Not a fault with this particular TV, just a serious void was missing for us. Because of that I had to budget an additional $200. I understand this is completely personal preference but I just want to put that out there for anyone use to Roku or Apple. Samsung does carry the major streaming apps so maybe the majority of people will be fine with the few missing. I did get the added benefit of my purchased movies being upgraded to 4K with my Apple TV purchase. All in all great TV with good capabilities. I guess the only downside is only 3 hdmi inputs. Not a serious gripe as I realize you cant have it all for under $500. As far as the remote, I think it serves its purpose. We use Harmony remotes in our home, so that duty went to my Harmony Hub. However I did use the original remote the first day or so while setting up. If you have HDMI-CEC enabled devices, the TV remote will control them.

Overall a good TV that replaced a Vizio

So far this TV has been a great replacement for a Vizio TV that recently quit working. The sound is very good, and picture quality is very vibrant and sharp. The TV does have an HDR mode, but the color of the picture does not look good in HDR like it does in standard mode. It was nice to be able to play a YouTube video on the TV wirelessly from my Android phone, but wish it had Chromecast built in so I could send other things from my phone to the TV like Google photos as well as other apps that support Chromecast. It was easy to setup and pair with a wireless router, and has plenty of connections including component connections for older devices like VCRs. The auto brightness feature has also been great for watching the TV at night without the picture being overly bright.

Last Samsung I purchased was 8 years ago. Comparing the two is like night and day. I did have a defect with the original unit but best buy returned it without a hassle. The new tv looks great. Impressive colors and detail. Guys at best buy claim that tv really isn't HDR, just has HDR effect... whatever. Setup with hdmi connected receiver and network was super simple. Wish their were more apps so I wouldn't have had to purchase a fire tv in addition. Standard blu rays look amazing, cant imagine what further you could see with 4k blu ray.

Color is good, setup was easy, light and easy to mount. Colors are true, didn’t see any pixilation in action movies and blacks are good despite no HDR. Only complaint was that it won’t work completely with out programmable remote. It won’t turn off! Have to get the TV remote to do it. First world problems, but frustrating none the less

Replaced my 50 inch plasma with this 55 inch smart 4K UHD. TV was easy to set up and worked well right out of the box. It takes only a little more space than the smaller 50inch because of the very narrow frame. TV is heavier than you would think. These LED are supposed to b light but not the bigger ones. The picture quality is very good. Not a big difference from the plasma. It’s actually not quite as sharp. The adjustments are a bit confusing, options like dynamic picture control, HDR, and so forth don’t have much explanation of how they work or what to expect. I will have another project for the to do list to search the internet and manual for optimal settings for best picture viewing. Smart TV works good and we gained access to Amazon movies which we lacked through our old system. Overall working good and paired up easily with our cable connection and existing sound bar. Working well. The one star ding is for complexity of settings and very little explanation of how to optimize all the new features. For $500 it’s the best price I’ve seen including Wal-Mart and Amazon but the Best Buy sales guy had to say it has some inferior parts because it is a “holiday special”. Not a good sales feature. One review said only the remote is downgraded.

Good quality isn't really HDR like presented on box only can read HDR not display which is useless. Can't read old school consoles in color like snes and sega. Remote is annoying. But for the most part everything else about the tv is great, quality- smart features- volume. Just bought a soundbar for it.

I definitely agree with the others that this is a great TV for the price. TV sounds great. There are three settings that you can choose from in the Sound settings: The three sound settings are: Standard, Optimized and Amplify. So I don't understand the reviews I have read about here and other sites that say the sound is poor. With very easy setup, great viewing angles, sharp color, great sound and crisp picture you couldn't ask for much more at this price range. I got a great deal for the holiday season and I am happy with the purchase.
