    Don’t buy this...Best alternative is SonyXBR65X850

    Good TV..but fragile and poor customer support December 13, 2017 Mohamad from Blue Bell, PA, USA Samsung doesn’t stand by its product. We have 8 different Samsung products at home, when we needed them to stand by their product and provide us proper diagnosis and solution to resolve the problem within warranty period...they couldn't. When the screen started with sudden increase in darkness to vertical lines, then minor crack shows up, then horizontal and vertical line and larger crack… Then totally stopped working! This happened after 10-11 months of purchase and I had a month left in warranty! It took 4 phone calls, and one online request to discuss the problem over 2 weeks of my time. Without even checking the any logs or opening up the TV, on call support staff started blaming me and they said it customer is responsible for any cracks and this is not a manufacturer defect. After multiple escalation they agreed to send a technician to home visit. The representative did a visual check...didnt even touch the TV and asked the “story” of the what happened… He turned the TV on and took a picture and said it’s not a manufacturer defect. The internal screen is broken… It happens only due to the negligence the owners not Samsung. So far this has been such a frustrating experience after spending 1300$. Very disappointing due to fragile quality of the product, worst customer support and technician supports!!! No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Rather buy SonyXBR65X850E 4K 65 inch tv...far better! Loving it!!!

    Purchased TV on-line and picked up next day. The process with Best Buy went very well and I had no issues with the experience with them. Brought TV home and set relatively quickly. WIthin two weeks, the TV Died. Screen went black. Spent 90 minutes on phone going through the script with Samsung. They determined the One Connect box was bad and they needed to send me a new one - 5 to 10 day turn around. Received it 1 week later and the TV was still dead. Spent another 90 minutes on the phone with Samsung doing the script and then they said my remote was bad and they needed to send me a new one. I challenged Samsung support regarding the remote - Asked, what does the remote have to do with turning on the TV manually - Hit the TV power button, it goes to turn on and get a black screen - The TV should still be getting the picture, the apps at the bottom regardless of the remote. So I sat on hold and they came back and said they needed to send a Tech out to replace the system board in the TV. So now I am waiting on the part and the tech to come out and resolve. End result, almost two weeks of a working TV and going on 3 weeks of a dead tv. Not very happy with the experience to date.

    I purchased this TV to replace another Samsung that went out after less than 4 years. Everything went fine with the setup until I tried connecting the Smart Hub. No matter what I tried, it wouldn't connect. I read all the forums and help sites only to discover that many others were experiencing the same problem. After trying for 4 days, I called Samsung Support. I spent about an hour with Support, until he finally told me to call my Internet Provider and deal with them. He said my router wasn't on the correct frequency to connect to the TV. I boxed it up and returned it to Best Buy. The cashier told us that he had taken back several other Samsungs for the same reason. I ended up getting a Sony and had everything up and running within an hour. Will never buy Samsung again.

    Poor TV Black screen periodically

    I have purchased many Samsung TV's over the years, Purchaed this tv for my father birthday he love's watching sports, Picture was great in store. Right out of the box there seemed to be a problem with the screen periodically going black then returning to picture. Samsung said it was a firmware issue or HDMI cable updated both still having the issue. I am still waiting on Samsung for a fix to the problem. People at Best Buy have been very helpful even offering an exchange, but with TV hung I was hoping not to remove and replace it. I would not recommend the Samsung MU 8000 series to anyone till Samsung fixes the issue.

    Doesn’t work.

    Purchased this tv a little over three weeks ago. It was great when it worked but now it just doesn’t turn on. No red standby light. Samsung sent me another cable but there is still no power. I’m waiting for a tech to come by to service the TV. This is very disappointing considering the price I paid for this TV. I’m also frustrated that I’m just outside of Best Buy’s return window. It’s unacceptable to sell a TV that stops working after three weeks. A quick google search shows this other people are having this same issue.

    Great TV, when it works

    Bought the 55" Samsung Smart TV and was immediately pleased until the TV started turning on all by itself. After about four months of coming home to a TV which I know I turned off being on, I finally decided to unplug it when it wasnt in use. Wrong idea. The TV is dead now, tried different outlets, unplugged all cables, everything. Not even a standby light. Nothing. Complete paperweight. A 1k loss on my part. Now ive gotta start the warranty process (1 year warranty from Samsung, I didnt buy the best buy warranty).

    I was very surprised when I unboxed this TV and discovered that it has no HDMI ports on the back. This TV uses a proprietary connection system with a box and special cable which might appeal to some, but it did not work for me as all my cabling is in-wall. Samsung should put at least one HDMI port on the back for those who don't want to use their proprietary system. I had to return the TV. The store rep was very helpful in assisting me with finding a Sony model that better meets my needs.

    Poor picture quality

    I bought this based on the high reviews and recommendation of the sales person. For me, the picture quality was good for regular TV but Sports and motion was terrible. Had a hard time watching hockey on this TV. Comcast came out twice and still couldn't get the picture as good as expected. I do not like the one connect system because it's one extra link for poor picture quality. It had to of been this one TV because the old ones in our house had better quality.

      I am sorry to see that you are not happy with its motion image performance.
      Have you tried adjusting Auto Motion Plus? It is a feature designed to eliminate blur and judder on an LED TV, specifically in fast moving images. It does so by taking a 30 fps signal and adds in additional frames to help smooth out any blur or judder between frames, called interpolation.

      Here is the step-by-step guide to change Auto Motion Plus settings:
      With the TV powered on, press the Home button on the Samsung remote to open the Home screen> Select Settings>.Select Picture > Select Expert Settings> Select Auto Motion Plus.
      (Note: This option may not be visible initially. Continue scrolling through the Expert Settings Menu to locate Auto Motion Plus)
      >Select Auto Motion Plus again, and you will see the following three options:
      ◦Off: Auto Motion Plus will always be off.
      ◦Auto: Auto Motion Plus will automatically activate and deactivate based on the type of program being watched.
      ◦Custom: Allows custom adjustments and settings to be used.
      By selecting the Custom option, you can access these advanced settings:
      - Blur Reduction: Use the directional keys on the remote to adjust the Blur setting.
      - Judder Reduction: Use the directional keys on the remote to adjust the Judder setting.
      - LED Clear Motion: Select to turn On/Off.

    Zero stars, thoroughly frustrated with my 55 inch paper weight. While trying to do the initial set up the remote just stopped working. Called Samsung and they determined the remote to be faulty right out of the box, so they sent me a new one, it took more than a week to arrive and it doesn't work either. I'll be returning the t.v. and buying a Sony, they don't suck.

    Purchased to upgrade 55” 3D LG that is not 4K or HDR. I kept the old set nearby, played with picture settings, used my Xbox One S and other sources and I do not see any improvement. In fact I feel the old set, 7 years old looks better. I like the remote and device controls, the tv has a great physical appearance, but I am returning as I am disappointed with the picture quality.

    Died After 3 Months

    This TV performed well when it worked, but unfortunately it stopped turning on after just 3 months. I was browsing Netflix when suddenly it rebooted and couldn't start back up. Samsung's warranty is one year, but I don't have much faith in the long-term reliability of this product. Disappointed in this purchase.

    If I could give this TV a negative 5 stars I would. This so-called SmartHub is horrible. Samsung updated the firmware recently and now the remote won't control the sound. It doesn't even hold a Bluetooth connection to my Samsung soundbar! Do not buy this TV. You will be sorry if you do!
