Great Picture; Some Minor Annoyances
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As usual with modern TV’s, there are just too many settings to tinker with to get the picture the way you like it. I started out with the Consumer Reports recommended settings, but way too warm and dark for my eyes. You know if an iPad display can come perfectly adjusted, why can’t a TV? Anyway, I finally gave up fiddling with the settings and turned on Intelligent mode for the picture which seemed to help a lot. The biggest surprise I got with this TV was right away when I tried to plug in the power. The electric cord is WAY TOO SHORT! And it’s not a three prong grounded cord. They really cheaped out on the cord. Next was the sound. I’m coming from a Sony XBR5 where the speakers were front facing on the sides. The Samsung has speakers at the bottom, making it sound like it’s in a bucket. This will take a awhile to get used to. Also, like when going from vinyl records to CD’s, you hear more background noises which can be disconcerting. The set doesn’t seem to do anything to level the volume when shows break to commercials. Turning on Intelligent mode for sound seems to make this worse. On the plus side, I love the AirPlay capability. As far as the picture quality, it’s only as good as the source. With a good source, the picture is spectacular. The low reflective screen is nice, but the ultra-angle viewing does not seem to be as good as promised. The replacement of the named app buttons on the sparse remote, with Source, Setting, and Apps buttons would be a major improvement. Overall, it’s a fine TV, but should be better for the price. Oh, and the no screws required for the legs really eases assembly.

Striking picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These comments are from a geriatric non-technophile and should be taken as such. We were looking for a bedroom TV with striking, vivid colors and a sharp picture. This TV is it. It will not give you the warm earth-tone picture which we did not want. Sports, especially baseball and football images are as good or better than actually attending the event. Would love to have several more of this product.

Amazing TV, great features and picture quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first Premium Samsung TV I have purchased and to begin I had done my research on it's features and the picture quality. The TV provides excellent HDR video streaming and for the size, get very bright and handles natural sunlight reflection like a champ with almost no visible change. Once you calibrate the TV and get deep into its color profiles and picture settings, you'll have a gorgeous screen to view content on. The TV as bonus can connect to an Amazon echo and smart devices to to do things like turn the TV on and off, along with compatibility to use your phone as a remote. Amazing and I would recommend!!

Skip the Q70 and get a Q80R if you can find one!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased a Q70 and it was not nearly bright enough to handle all of the light in my room so I had to return it. I was replacing an older Samsung 8500 that was extremely bright and never had any issues. After a bit of research and considering LG and Sony I went with the Samsung Q80R and it did not disappoint. It is much brighter than anything comparable from LG or Sony. It was quite a bit more expensive, about $400 more than the Q70 but at least I can say I am very happy with my purchase. If you have a lot of light competition get the Q80R. If you’re in a dark room or basement get an LG!

Burn in proof, but not as pretty as an OLED
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a burned-in LG C7 survivor. It lasted a year and a half before the burn in became so objectionable I couldn't stand it. Fortunately, and contrary to my usual practice, I had purchase a Best Buy Geek Squad replacement warranty, and Best Buy was fantastic at honoring it, no questions asked. The equivalent replacement was an LG C8, and I didn't want to go through that again in a couple of years, so I opted for the QLED Samsung Q80R after a quick in-store view. This TV is very good, but has a few minor flaws to go with its pluses. First, the Q80R is MUCH brighter than the OLED TVs, if you want it to be (controllable through the backlight intensity). On the other hand, there's something subtle that is lacking in the coloration, no matter how I adjust it, that is difficult to explain. It's just not quite natural, regardless of my adjustments to coloration and brightness. It has fewer HDR options than the LG. The controller is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it seems to do a little more than the LG controller. On the other hand, it has an awkward menu in some ways--for example, to get to the setup menu to change your screen parameters, you have to hit home, then go left a half-dozen clicks to get there. That's a function of the cursor-arrow paradigm, rather than the directly moveable cursor that LG has. The reds seem a tiny bit on the cool side. And, if you're not careful when you view the built in links to 4k scenic movies (flowers, butterflies, nature), it's easy to get electric greens in grass and foliage. However, that doesn't usually pose a problem in most viewing of news and movies. All in all, a quite good set. Just not quite perfect.

Awesome TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, the picture quality was much better than the 60" LG HD led tv we had. After changing a few settings, the picture was superb! Incredibly easy to set up, it auto-detects your Blueray player, home theater system, and whatever else you may have connected to it. The apps include most of the streaming content you may want, if not, it's very easy to add more. I disconnected the home theater system in order to check the speakers in the set, and they have great range, the low frequencies really come through well, as well as the midrange and highs. All in all, a fantastic tv!

Great TV and excellent service from Best buy!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased a Samsung QLED 75" Q8 last fall for our main tv area and have been been blown away ever since by the picture quity and ease of use. Since then it was our intent to replace our other TVs with the QLED models as well. Finally last week we were able to pull the trigger and once again we could not be more pleased with Best Buy service or the Samsung product. To make matters better our tv went on sale within the timeframe of the price match guarantee and Best Buy matched the price and credited us the difference with just a phone call! Impressed on all accounts.

Great TV in Bright Light
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a fair amount of research on which TV was right for my room. I have a bright room and needed something that would match brightness for midday watching. I chose the Q80 over an OLED for that reason. The Q80 is awesome! There is hardly any glare at any angle. Nighttime viewing is also great with its brightness and good black tones. My kids still say "woooww" when we turn it on. I was also able to get it on sale for less than the Q70 (at the time). A deal like that is a no-brainer. Excellent value! I recommend.

Crisp Picture
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our principal TV and our second Samsung TV. Because of our first Samsung, purchased circa 2010, we were disposed to purchasing another, but shopped the competing brands. We, ultimately, purchased the Samsung 55" QLED and haven't been disappointed. Smart Hub has greater capabilities than the earlier model. Picture is simply outstanding; vivid color; the depth of the picture is "3-D-like"; doesn't pickup reflections from room lighting or from windows. Elected to have the Geek Squad install it for us and would highly recommend the service.

Couldn't be happier
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased my Samsung q80 to replace a 9 year old Samsung edge lit led 8000 series. I was very happy with my old Samsung but figured it was time to upgrade. Out of the box I was extremely happy. Overall picture and ease of setup was great. Fyi I did have geek squad perform a calibration. Now I'm even happier. The colors are a little more subtle but the detail I gained after the calibration was unbelievable. I loved the TV before now I'm in love even more.

Great TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We just bought the Samsung Q80R. Beautiful picture and nice sound without a sound bar. TV was easy to set up. The only thing was the spot where the cable hooks up is hard to access. If you have big hands you really struggle to get it on. But I would highly recommend this tv.

Excellent TV, beautiful picture and good sound
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung Q80 series TV has an amazing picture and great 4K UDH picture, streams beautifully and has multiple built-in apps. I have it paired with a Q70 sound bar and the surround sound effect is great. I couldn't be happier. It was also easy to set up and everything connected seamlessly. I highly recommend this product.

Great picture & sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought it was time to replace a 9 year old LCD tv and after looking at several reviews I chose the Samsung Q80R. Even though I kind of knew which tv I wanted, when I went into the local Best Buy on two different occasions I didn't indicate the Samsung was what I was looking at. Both times the employees said they recommended the Samsung which confirmed to me that I had made the correct choice. Arranged for delivery and setup and that was really the only slight negative in the whole process. Delivery day was rainy and messy and neither delivery person had slip covers for their shoes. That's a little unprofessional in my opinion. Now for the tv itself. My viewing area is darker most of the time. Once the installers left and the living room lights were turned off the tv got very dark. I couldn't figure out why that was. But on the "Dynamic" setting it got bright but was almost too bright. After watching a Youtube review of the Q90R I discovered that if I turned on intelligent mode it made the picture come in at it's ideal settings for me. What surprised me is how good the sound is especially in game mode. This is my first proper smart tv and I'm still learning about the apps as there are some which I can get for pc and Xbox but not through the tv which I can't understand. But watching 4k clips and programs on Youtube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime is amazing. So far I'm very satisfied.

Solid
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV is absolutely solid. Great black levels. Bright vibrant display. There is a protective film you have to take off in order to take advantage of the anti glare screen. I was debating this or a c9. I do alot of gaming and I didbt want the thought of burn in after some time. I was really impressed with the sound quality. Still need a external sound solution.

Excellent TV, easy to change station by voice.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This smart TV is extremely easy to use in searching online shows by using voice commands. The screen is bright, pictures are perfect. We had and older compatible smart TV in the last 4 years, this latest model is definitely a lot better in quality, much more easy to operate, but this model is top of the line, kind of expensive but it is worthed.

Phenomenal TV at a great price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted another 4K TV, and needed it to fit in a wall unit. Hence the 55” size...would have preferred a 75”! Samsung TV’s have been my favorite for a while, and this model is no different. Excellent features, 5 year warranty, unbelievable “Black Friday” pricing and oh what a picture! Couldn’t recommend this any more than I do. Go buy one!

Super TV, But not great
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the best performing tv prior to Qled 65" 9 series. My first impression is that it's a little brighter...but my 9 series has a better picture. That being said the Qled offers you a different perspective in color saturation and viewing angles. The apps are great and the refresh rate is awesome, it feels so immersive while viewing...it does a great job of upscaling, also very good in extreme lighting in rooms with high sun. I dont really light the remote from either. Although it those offer simplicity, but it feel cheap even on the 9 series, for a TV costing near 4,000 but the fit and finishes on the 9 are super nice, bo so much on this Qled 8 series actually it feels really cheap, especially from the rear. I hate the legs as they are spaced so far apart that your limited to the stand you able to use. You could wall mount it. Overall for the cost of under 1500.00 for a quality 55" for my bedroom, I'm very pleased.
