8k true quality, I cant go back to my LG in the living room, this tv is amazing, it excells in dark rooms, the only thing i currently dislike is that there is no 8k media! Being an early adopter is a risk especially with a product like this, but im hopefull that when 8k media starts rolling out ill be ready,
I also hooked up my pc to this and gaming in 8k is just so beautiful

I purchased the 55" 8k TV thinking it would have the same anti-glare screen as the 82" 8k TV I have..It does not..
The glare is impossible to ignore, has there been an upgrade because it's not what I was expecting and is far from being anti-glare

FrankP,
Thank you for your review of the QN700B TV and for sharing your feedback regarding screen glare. Please know that your TV is engineered with Anti-Glare Technology designed to minimize ambient light reflections. We understand that light conditions of each room environment are different. Terrible dithering with all content

TLDR: My best guess is that this TV does some bad image processing, upsampling to 8k that results in very bad dithering.
The way this TV produces color is a catastrophe. Not only is it absolutely useless as a PC monitor (100% agree with DisplayEnthusiast) but it is also bad to watch videos/movies. The way the TV produces colors and gradients is absolutely terrible and looks like a checkerboard on which every second pixels is simply disabled.
The first image attached to this review is taken from Samsungs "Self Diagnostic" tool (which comes uncompressed directly from the TV itself). Look at the awful dithering across the entire image. Some of it looks essentially like a black and white checkerboard.
The other two images are examples of connecting the TV to a PC and a modern GPU. Regardless of setting (I tried all of them) the image continues looking extremely dithered.
Samsung technical support was very cumbersome to deal with. Essentially talking to a person on the phone who has no technical background who kept saying "the engineers think your picture looks fine". Impossible to do actual diagnostics and understand whether this is a fundamental problem of the TV (which I am sure it is).

not8k,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the picture quality of your QN700B TV. To ensure you’ve got the latest image quality updates, please confirm that your TV is up to date with the latest firmware version. You can check by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
If the picture you’re seeing is still not to your liking after updating firmware, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.
Go to Home > left direction button > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode ...and select the mode that best fits your usage: 1. Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments 2. Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments 3. Eco: Provided to save energy 4. Movie: Suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room 5. Filmmaker Mode: Provides source content just as the creators intended. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it’ll automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.
You can also fine-tune your picture with expert settings such as brightness, contrast, sharpness and more (All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings).

I would not have bought this TV if I knew it wasn't able to be mounted with the box on it. Now the box has to sit on the dresser and there is a cord hanging down. Disappointed.

No good as computer monitor

I have been looking out for an 8k display that is smaller than the 65 inch ones that are readily available. When I saw this pop up, I immediately bought it and was excited to use it.
However, when I hooked it up to my computer, there are horrible dithering artifacts. I have not found any way to get rid of the artifacts. This is a terrible shame as otherwise this makes for a huge canvas to work with. The PPI of 160 is reasonably high and the lowest that I find acceptable.
This is a glossy display which I prefer although I get some glare. Some might not like it, but I can deal with it.
My search for a big 8k display continues…

Great for use an 8K PC monitor for productivity

Bought this to use as an 8k PC monitor for productivity, which gives the equivalent screen real estate as 4 27" 4K monitors (and actually is good value when looked at in that context). As noted by others, the dithering effect in Windows that some have complained about at 8K goes away if you set the TV to game mode and turn on G-Sync (or VRR equivalent) in the graphics driver settings, so you end up with a bright, clean, and razor sharp image. Image is gorgeous with some blooming in certain high contrast content but overall is not too bad. For gaming it supports 4K 120Hz which also looks fantastic. Not as good as OLED but still great in its own right, with the one advantage of brighter HDR highlights which you really notice.
Biggest downside (and why I'm deducting one star) is the not so great viewing angles. Basically anything closer than 3 feet viewing distance and you'll see a noticable shift (looks like a slight white haze) in the image that can be bothersome, especially vertically. At 3 feet the shift is slight but still there, and at 4 feet (which is what I would game at) it's a non-issue. I try to work mainly at 3 feet but I notice the shift when naturally leaning in to get a closer look at some content.
Overall would recommend if your primary use is productivity and you are worried about OLED burn-in, which would have been a risk in my case since I have many windows statically pinned for hours on end for work. And the epic desktop real estate and text sharpness cannot be beat, even by OLED.

Great as a PC monitor

I bought this TV to use it a PC monitor. Buying an 8K TV to use a TV at present time is questionable at best because little to no 8K content is available, subjectively 4K content looks better on high-end 4K TVs, and at this point of tech development 4K->8K upscaling is IMHO just marketing gimmick. This is actually my third Samsung 8K TV. Prior to it I owned (still own) Samsung QN55Q900R [2019 model] and Samsung QN65QN800B [2022 model] all of which were used as monitors. This one, QN55QN700B, is probably the best for this purpose. Let me be clear – it is far from being perfect. It was designed as a TV, not as a monitor and it shows, you just have to accept it and live with some inconveniences. Also, I would not use it for professional graphics design. However, as a monitor that can simultaneously display a lot of information in multiple windows it does the job very well. Prior to this one I used a 65” QN65QN800B. It was just too big. 55” is much better and gives a finer pixel pinch (48” would be even better but there is nothing of that size on the market). Also, it fit better into a regular size desk.
Some of the pros:
1) Runs relatively cool. The two other 8K TVs I owned generated excessive amount of heat, even the 2022 QN65QN800B. When you sit in a poorly ventilated room at a relatively close distance from the TV it may create discomfort and become an issue. In this regard, QN55QN700B performs rather well. No parts of the TV get hot to the touch after a prolonged use.
2) Good price, especially if you get it on sale. Currently, you can hardly get anything cheaper that has 8K resolution. For reference, Dell 32” UP3218K monitor has a list price of $5,000.
3) True 4:4:4 chroma subsampling.
4) Good image quality. If you are used to high-end or professional monitors, the image quality may not impress you. But having true 8K resolution IMHO beats any advantage in “per pixel” quality you get from hi-end monitors.
5) Some people reported dithering effect. I was able to get rid of it by playing with settings in game mode.
6) Great simple and slim design. It can be hanged on a wall with little or no gap if you wish so.
7) The sound will not win any awards, but it is passable for casual use (for fine sound quality you would probably use headphones anyway).
Some of the cons:
1) Halo effect (blooming) typical for many LED or QLED TVs is there.
2) Auto adjustment of brightness and local dimming can be a bit annoying. Not much can be done about it. Hence, I would not recommend it for professional graphics work even if you calibrate it.
3) 60 Hz and HDMI 2.1 only inputs (no DisplayPort 2.0). Also, as I understand it, there is no support for Display Stream Compression (DSC). It is not that critical for me personally and I do not use it for gaming, but it would be nice to have it future-proof and capable of displaying 120 Hz video signal at 8K. Oh boy, things would look so much smoother then. I guess we need to wait a couple of more years for that to become a reality.

The weight of the TV with the all metal stand is kind of heavy, so I recommend two person assembly. I am impressed so far with this TV. Was a little concerned about the CEC feature at first but have grown accustomed to turning things on with hitting the power button on one remote. I also was a little on the fence about purchasing a TV with a 60 megahertz refresh, since my last TV was 120 . But with the TV able to power through 4k resolution in HDR I am impressed with the picture quality of the TV! I also have played PlayStation 5 using a 2.1 HDMI certified Cord and some of the games are just beautiful in HDR. (Jedi survivor being one of them) The TV remote is interesting as it has no digit buttons on it and it has a light panel to charge it with a USBC port for charging as well. (No changing batteries) The speakers are rear firing and in Dolby Atmos when you turn the volume up to 30. The speaker's vibrate.(getting a soundbar in the future) one other thing to consider when buying is that the TV screen and the TV components casing are separate. Where you plug a cable into the picture section and plug the other end in to a square box that houses the chips and outputs for the TV. You can mount the square box on the TV stand but that would add more weight to what is already a little heavy in my opinion. So I have this box sitting on the stand on the side of my TV, this also keeps the box well ventilated. But no big complaints come up with this unit to me.

About a month in and it's been awesome as my main monitor. Tons of screen space for productivity, watching software tutorials and having the program open right next to it, viewing 8k youtube content was mind blowing and reviewing my own footage shot at 8k is awesome as well. Had headaches the first few days from sitting too close, but after moving my sitting position back about 10 inches has made it much more comfortable. Keys to getting this work for me was getting it into "game mode" for 8k 60fps at 200%, and then downloading PowerToys and using FancyZones. The OneConnect box is much bigger but slimmer than the Frame TV I'm using in the living room, the interface isn't as laggy as the Frame tho. Thanks to those who couldn't get it to work and their 1 star reviews, got the price of this to come down so much! I might get a 2nd one since no one seem to be making 8k TVs at 55 inches anymore.
