    DIRECTV is my program provider

    Posted .

I now have had this TV in our home for a month. I am securing it to the wall next week. It has been on the stand as was provided by Samsung since it arrived. The speakers "fire down" and to me they sound muted, and I must drive the audio volume up to fill the room with sound, Yes I do have surround sound connected to my DIRECTV receiver. I am having problems with the DIRECTV remote working properly with the TV. Using the Samsung remote and attempting to connect on the Internet is a difficult activity.

I had previously purchased a 32" LED TV to use as a computer monitor, and I wanted to replace my 48" LCD that I purchased in 2008. I have not chosen to buy into the 3D electronics market yet. I wanted a great TV, but one that was affordable and I didn't need to wear special glasses to watch. After reading all the reviews and visiting my local Best Buy, getting this TV was an absolute no brainier. I noticed that there were some reviewes that stated that there was trouble with the picture or that the picture was of a poor quality when watching images such as sports or other fast moving objects or people. I experienced none of those problems. This TV worked incredibly well, straight out of the box. I must add that I did disable the dynamic brightness setting as it is a most annoying feature. Changing the brightness to meet ambient lighting is a good idea on paper... But personally, I can't stand it. Now, even though the image was so incredably crisp, clear and seemed perfect, I wanted to verify the quality of the image vs. a known standard. My choice was to use an industry standard for comparison so i decided the THX screen calibration tool (with THX glasses) was the way to go. The brightness was dead on, the contrast was almost perfect, the tint needed a very slight adjustment to meet the THX calibration. Other than that, it was perfect. There were also complaints about the two 20w speakers on this unit. Frankly, I have to say that anyone who buys a 60" TV, should not be relying on the internal speakers for sound. If you are purchasing a 60" TV, you more than likely have (or should have) surround sound and don't even need internal speakers. So, I wouldn't expect great things from the speakers because I believe they are there only so the manufacturer can call this a TV and not a monitor. I waited almost a month before writing this review because I wanted to see how well it held up. It is working beautifully absolutely no complaints. Definitely a winner, I'd most certainly buy it again and already have recommended it to friends.

Perfect TV except for the sound

    Posted .

I bought my Samsung UN60ES6100 from my local BestBuy store, after some expert help from an associate there. I had been to a couple of other stores, include other BestBuy locations, and had either no service or advice that was plain unhelpful. I wanted a Samsung plasma or LED TV without 3D (a gimmick to me) but with smart TV features and she helped me pick exactly the right model and arrange free delivery. The experience has been great so far. I hooked the TV up to my home network, got Netflix going and hooked it up to my PC so I can stream content from my computer to the TV. The picture quality is just superb, but then my previous TV was a 32" Hitachi standard def plasma, c.2005, so I was expecting to be impressed. The only let down is the sound quality. My new apartment is barely furnished and the TV is currently sitting on a tiled floor, and the down-firing speakers can make speech a bit garbled. I need to invest in a surround sound system to get the most from the TV, so that'll be my next purchase.

    Amazing Samsung quality as expected

As expected the t.v. was perfect. The picture is amazing and the internet speed is fine (even w/ the single core processor). I do recommend going through all the fine tuning to perfect picture. Set the clear motion rate to minimum or you'll think everything is an annoying documentary. I have my t.v. hooked up via ATT uverse d.v.r. by h.d.m.i. and have no problems. Blu-ray picture is amazing. The only complaint would be the sound. Due to lack of space, all manufacturers have tiny 5-10 watt speakers that are designed for normal sound only. I recommend this for average shows but for movies, action t.v., sports, etc. I use my home theater system for audio. Or use your sound bar. Definitely recommend purchase of this t.v. Don't save a couple bucks on a lesser known brand. Samsung always delivers.

    Awesome Smart TV

I shopped around for quite a while before choosing the Samsung 60" LED Smart TV. Usually I'm a big online shopper, but I went into the store just to check it out before buying. I actually almost purchased a different brand with the same specs, but standing in the aisle with both TVs next to each other, the Samsung by far had the better picture. We haven't really get into the "Smart"ness of the TV since we haven't set up the wireless internet yet, but we really love watching movies and regular television. It's so easy to use and to change the picture to fit whatever you're watching. My husband loves watching football and having all his friends over for the big games. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a quality TV at a great price. Sound is perfect, too. We don't have surround, so we just depend on the TV and we are very happy with the sound quality also.

Amazing picture. Smart TV features are great!

I absolutely love this TV. I had a 52" DLP TV and was sick of wasting money every year on a new picture bulb. After doing some research, I found this TV from samsung was one of the best 60" LED tv's for the money. My research has paid off big time! The smart tv features are great. I only hope that samsung catches up with smart phones and gives me more apps to choose from. The sound quality is above average. However, it easily can be improved with a soundbar or surround sound system. I love the efficient use of space by this TV. My old 52" DLP actually took up more space in my entertainment center this this one.

Quality smart tv at a fair price

This is my second Samsung television and again I am blown away by the picture quality that this thing produces. I was slightly concerned that the online capabilities would be less than bearable after reading a few reviews, however it was not that bad. Some people may not have good Internet connection. It has been a month now and mine seems to work fine. I haven't tried all the movie streaming apps yet but Skype and Pandora work pretty well. The Internet browsing experience is a little slow. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard connected which work fine, but it is still not as seamless as browsing on a laptop or other portable device. Hopefully future firmware updates will improve this process. The other features offered work well. So many options! 3 hdmi ports are helpful too. many of the other samsung models only have 2. This is a solid buy for anyone looking at a 60" unit. I will definitely continue to buy Samsung televisions! Note: I always buy the protection policy for my televisions. Every manufacturer seems to have some kind of tv issues. So eliminate the headache and get protected. With this big of a tv they will come out to fix onsite. Worth the money!

I love the TV! I finally replaced my old projection tv. I never realized how much better a picture could be. The picture is crystal clear and it has pretty good sound quality. The only things that could be better is if it had picture in picture and more connections. It has 3 hdmi and 1 rca hook up.

All in all a great TV for the money.

Overall, this was a great TV for the money. When I found it online on Saturday night it was initially 1399 on sale. When I went in to buy it on Sunday, the price was 1799 and Best Buy refused to honor the price that drew me into the store. All in all, I'm very happy with the TV but I do wish I had bought the next model up. There are a few issues with fast motion, something that doesn't exist on my 50" Samsung Plasma, but through the settings that I found online most of this was taken care of. - http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/samsung-lcd-tv/samsung-es6100-picturesettings.html has the perfect set of tweaks. Color out of the box isn't great, but start with the "Movie" setting and tweaking from there (same site listed above).

We originally bought a Sharp Aquos 3D tv. We had so many compatibility issues with Fios that we returned it after two weeks. We purchased this Samsung instead, and we are so happy with our choice. We gave up the 3D option, but we probably wouldn't have used it very much anyway. The picture quality is great and overall I think this is a better tv.

    Awesome TV

As fate would have it, our TV went out 2 days before we were to leave for vacation. So I headed to the local Best Buy to check out what they had to offer. Looked at the Samsung 7500 & 8000 3D TV's but really did'nt want a 3D TV. So I decided on the Samsung 60" 6100. After getting it home I realized we were going to have to have a sound bar cause the speakers are not good at all but the picture quality is amazing, as is the ease of set up and use. Went back and bought the Polk Audio 6000 Sound Bar with wireless Sub and I'm very happy with the combo. If you intend on getting this TV get a sound bar of some sort you'll need it. The speakers on the TV are very small and have to be turned up to like 65-70 to hear it. Add the sound bar and forget it.The sound bar adds amazing sound quality. As for the TV, Picture is the best I've seen. Looks like you could reach right in and touch the people!!! Yes its that good!!! Very easy to use. I highly recommond this TV but only if you intend on getting a sound bar of some kind or have one already. Samsung offers 2 for around $300.00 and Polk offers 2 as well a 3000 and a 6000 both are amazing and priced at $300.00- $450.00 Hope this review was helpful. Buy this TV and you'll be very pleased with the purchase.

Great for TV and video w/sound system

Definitely pleased with our purchase! I was a bit reluctant to step up to this large of a screen for our medium-sized family/entertainment room (previous tv was a 42"), but it was a great deal, and the best buy/reward zone return policy is a terrific 'safety' feature, so we went for it. Great display on this TV. Several options available to adjust and tweak the display settings, which can be handy for different sources, and if you have a room with variable sun exposure. At first I was a bit disappointed with some of the TV viewing (particularly sports), but with some adjustments it improved (plus I discovered that the picture quality is definitely dependent on the quality of the source'sdigital rendering). I hadn't watched any movies on this unituntil this weekend. When I flipped on an old movie, my wife and I were startled by the clarity and depth of the picture. It was rather like looking through a window at a live play or movie shoot - even action scenes were detailed and sharp, and the color was spot-on! The apps are convenient and fun if you have the time to spend searching for stuff to watch. I simply haven't done it myself except to try it out when setting it up at home. I usually watch specific scheduled programming if I have the time. Hopefully we get a chance to order some movies and maybe goof around on youtube some more. The units speakers are okay for what they are, but were an extremely minor consideration. They sounded a bit boxy when I tested it on setup, but what do you expect from flat-screen speakers? I have the audio off on this tv and only use my sound system, it's the way to go with most content!

    Best TV for the dollar

I found that for the money, this was the best TV out there. It doesn't have EVERY feature, like 3-D, but if you don't care about 3-D it has pretty much everything else. Great picture quality and easy menu adjustments. Very light and easy to set up. The only thing that isn't perfect is the sound, which is the same problem with all flat screen tvs. Get a sound bar and life is perfect

    Great tv

I bought this tv after a lot of comparison with other brands and other technology (eg plasma). For a smart LED tv at this size, this was the right choice. The design is beautiful and has really brought life to my family room. Very thin screen and thin bezel. I really wanted a thins case and refuse to accept any thicker models. Samsung does a great job of building nice looking tv's. Comparing the design of this versus other brands at the same price point, Samsung wins hands down. As for the picture, the samsungs have a very crisp picture. Blu ray is incredible. HDTV cable is noticeably a step down. At this point I start complaining more at the content as this tv can handle the best pictures for a LED. If you have the room in your house get the 60! Smaller tv's seem to give better picture quality due to condensed picture but this tv has very good quality even with the large size. Finally the apps are wonderful. Having this integrated does cost more but for convenience is worth it. The apps is a bit slow sometimes especially If it needs updates, but it's not unbearable. Netflix seems to be a bit slow even through my ps3. The apps interface looks very nice and easy to use. Remote buttons for access is also easy to use. Finally LED technology seems to be most popular these days but it still doesn't match the plasma. This TV is awesome for a led but next tv I would buy is probably a plasma. In comparing to plasma, picture quality is much better though it does use more power and needs a thicker case. But whenever I go to bestbuy and head to the magnolia section, the plasmas look incredible.

Great TV, Awesome Profile & Design

I helped my grandparents pick this TV out when their old Sony LCD projection TV started failing. I cannot even begin to speak to what an improvement this TV was. First, the picture is really good, and the black levels are great. I am a huge fan of the 4 HDMI inputs, which are plenty for your HDMI cable box, Blu Ray player, Gaming console, etc.. Each input can be set to custom settings; meaning if you like your picture a certain way for gaming vs. TV vs. movies, you can easily configure each input. Another cool feature is the ambient light sensor which aids in adjusting the backlight level based on the current level of lighting in the room.

Great picture quality, easy to set up

    Posted .

I bought this TV in November 2012. It was a black friday special for $1499. The set up was easy and the user interface was very user friendly. The remote is also amazing, it can be programmed to control my Cable STB and it has lights so you can still control it in the dark. WiFi connection is a breeze to setup and most of all picture quality is awesome. At first it was too bright and not all the details were visible, but after getting it professionally calibrated the picture was awesome. The detail was great! Every wrinkle on Wolf Blitzer's face was visible. The detail was so amazing you can even see the hair stubbles. Dont get me wrong the picture quality is great out of the box but getting it professionally calibrated makes a world of difference. I am a premiere silver member so i had an option to have it calibrated for free and i suggest you do the same if you are a premier silver member. Netflix, hulu and Amazon Prime are awesome on this TV. Sound quality is not the best but that is expected on almost all flat screen TVs. But since mine is hooked up to my home theatre its not an issue. My only issue with this TV is the frame lag when watching NBA. Not sure if its my tv or the cable box but it only lags when i watch NBA games and when they show stats on the screen. It doesnt happen when i watch Football thou so i guess its the cable box. Every channel, Bluray, gaming COD BOPs2 and streaming is ok. Lag only occurs when im watching on channel 1066 on my cox cable. I hope this review helps people decide on which TV to get but i would really recommend this TV.

This tv appears much smaller than my 65" Samsung from the Magnolia center, but it is very streamlined and clean in appearance. The picture quality is sharp and it actually makes regular cable and non blu-ray dvds look amazing. The tv does come with internet capability and all the smart tv functions are great. The downfall is the remote, which cost roughly around $130 dollars when bought seperately. Trying to use the "up" "down" "left" "right" arrow buttons is very annoying extremely sensitve and very slow. I actually was able to use my logitech wireless keyboard with the tv but the mouse function on my keyboard did not work with the tv. Hence, typing was improved dramatically, but the mouse function still was not good. I had to default back to using the remote that came with the tv. I intend on getting a new samsung querty remote soon. It is great for youtube and all around websurfing with the tv, which is awesome and can easily be a family activity. The sound quality is ok, but not really anything that would make you say wow. Even adjusting the settings, it has alot of flexibility but it lacks depth in bass and clear highs. I find that if I don't turn the tv volume up it sounds very monotone in nature. All in all , a great tv a great price. Hands down the picture is what makes it so nice.

Nothing great but good picture and sound quality. Would not recommend extended warranty or Geek Squad service. Had trouble w/first set delivered and installed by Geek Squad, with in 30 days of purchase. Was informed about a "NEW" policy that went into effect after my purchase. To get the set exchanged I would have to set up THREE seperate appointments to first have the first set removed from the wall and taken away, second appointment to deliver the new replacement set, and then a third appointment to reinstall the second set. The Geek Squad from the store and the delivery service from the wharehouse did not have direct communication and twice had to cancel the replacement delivery and install. When the wharehouse finally delivered the second set, the Geek Squad had not yet come to remove the original set, so they said I would have to reschedule AGAIN! After many appoligies from the delivery team, they agreed to take the first set down off the wall and install the new replacement set, against the advice from the wharehouse management. I find this "NEW" policy very BAD for the customer and should be reviewed by upper management of Best Buy.

Great TV with amazing viewing angles

I've had this TV for about 2 months now and I am LOVING it! The only problem that I have found is that the two rear HDMI plugs stick out perpendicular to the TV which is fine when the TV is on its stand, but I have it wall mounted. To fix this I bought a right angle HDMI adapter which wasn't a problem to find but caused one of the HDMI plugs to get covered. Now i'm down to 2 HDMI plugs which I think could have been easily avoided by mounting all the ports on the side. This isn't a huge deal considering all the features the TV has. I don't use the Smart TV features much because I have a PS3 and an Xbox so I don't have much to say there. The real star of the show (as it should be with a TV) is the screen. Super crisp display as well as super fluid movement from the 120 Hz. The screen is also SUPER bright as most Samsung TVs are, which I love! As for the speakers, I wasn't expecting much, but when I first turned on the TV I was pleasantly surprised at how loud they were. I could easily say that they are usable for normal TV watching which is a rare occurance these days with TVs. Overall, I LOVE this TV and think it was well worth its $1,700 price tag. If you can live with an HDMI hub or only 2 HDMI plugs, then this TV is perfect. Great job once again Samsung!!!

Great tv for medium to large rooms

I was torn between a tv with 120 and 240 refresh rates, the price difference was considerable so I went with a larger screen and the 120 refresh rate. The next decision was brands of tv. Looked at both LG and Samsung. The Samsung to my eye was much sharper. I purchased the Samsung and I have to say I was not disappointed. Don't worry about the refresh rate, I can not see a discernible difference between my 120 and my friends 240 even in the fastest sports broadcasts. Picture is crystal clear, color is perfect, and set up is easy. The only weakness is the sound which is the norm for thin flat screens. I added a sound bar and sub woofer for home theater. Had friends over for a football game and one of them bought the same set before the next game. I highly recommend this TV.
