The picture was great, but now there is a large bright spot along the bottom of the screen and a dark vertical stipe, 8 inches wide, from this bright spot to the top of the screen. It's only 5 months old!
I replaced an 8 year old Sony that is still in service in the master bedroom now, that never had an issue!
Stick with Sony....

I like the tv but honestly I was hoping for a little more at this price. I came from a Panasonic plasma tv and this is my first LCD of this size but the picture really isn’t as good as plasma was. Overall I like the size but I should have spent a little more and got OLED or direct backlighting. Overall a good TV though

We have only had it for a few weeks, but can't be worse than the LG we had replace 3 times. Geek Squad in Omaha has been amazing!

I am not happy at all with this particular purchase. I should have investigated it a little deeper and The Best Buy clerk should have been a little more thorough in explanation. I had a cheaper LG model I was much happier with. There is no aspect ratio control nor color control. It is very limited in how far the user can Interface with controls. The operation manual is a joke. In hindsight, I should have returned this particular television and paid to upgrade to Oleg.

Purchased this tv for my living room when I purchased my first home, almost 4 years and it hasn't even glitched. Picture is awesome, remote is easy to navigate and you get the free samsung channels. Contemplating buying a secomd one.

Ran upon this during Best Buy's Anniversary sale and couldn't resist! At $599, it's almost as if one had to buy this on general principle.
Television was delivered in perfect condition. With a friend, set-up was easy, taking only about 15 minutes from unboxing to being hoisted onto our TV stand. I just followed a video on posted on Best Buy which made the set up process not only easy but very intuitive.
The initial set up was what one would expect from new modern devices. It's all pretty easy to get started, especially with the Smart remote which renders the step incredibly easy and virtually idiot proof. The preset Netflix/Prime/Hulu buttons on the remote made it very easy to watch the moment we had finished the setting up process.
The picture and colors are stunning! We have this in a relatively dim room used as an office/study, and the picture quality and color in movie mode was simply breathtaking--at least to me. While I'm certain one can tell the difference between this and a QLED when viewing side by side, I seriously doubt anyone could or would notice any difference if viewing this Series 8 LED in a room, and then the QLED in another.
Initially, I had considered paying a little more for a QLED but glad I didn't after having watched this set for the past several days, especially in the room we have it in. Smart TVs have come a long way.
Finally, a tip for setting this up for the first time. If you have Apple TV or Hulu (probably other Apps affected too but these were the only two I noticed before upgrading the Firmware) upgrade to the latest Firmware otherwise some Apps may not function properly and fully. Also, I noticed under the support section, sometimes the "update" is greyed out; in this case, an easy fix, that worked for me at least, is to go over to the "network" options and reselect or retest either the WiFi or Ethernet connection. The upgrade selection will no longer be greyed out and will become available.
Great TV, and looking forward to enjoying it, especially in this current environment. The best part? At this price, it's having a fabulous big screen TV one can treat as disposable.

The GOOD:
The TV build quality very nice and premium (the trim has a gunmetal color finish to it – really nice). The like the legs on this Samsung model compared to the others, and allows you to route the cable above it on one side. The remote control is quite functional and I don’t really miss the number keypad (there is an onscreen number keypad if you really need it). I love that the remote is universal and auto-change its function depending on what input you are on (HDMI Arc is not required for this feature). When I have my Xbox One connected, the Remote control will control the Xbox and the Volume button will control my Audio receiver. The brightness (in NON-HDR mode), 240 motion rate, and bright colors are very good for movies, sports, and gaming. The SmartTV OS is very easy to use and quick to function.
The OKAY:
I get it, it’s not AMOLED, but the blacks are just average. I was expecting a little better at this price point.
No DTS or HD Audio output support. Oh well, at least it still converts them into Dolby Digital via Optical or HDMI ARC out.
The BAD:
HDR sucks on this TV. It simply does not have enough power to give you a bright picture when viewing HDR enabled content. It’s not an issue with the HDMI cable I am using or the source. It’s just this specific model cannot generate a bright HDR picture. The room must literally be really dark in order to view a decent HDR image. Adjusting the brightness can cure the issue, but then you are no longer viewing a naturally colored image.
But here is my real issue with the 8 series. It’s the price- If you will NOT be gaming, then save your money and get the 7 series (trust me the Picture quality is the same, despite the info listed, and the only thing you'll be missing is the faster refresh rate). If you WILL be gaming and\or want an upgraded picture quality, then spend $100 more for the Q60 as it’ll have the same refresh rate as the 8 series but have a noticeably better picture quality.
The ONLY reason I bought the 8 series was because it was the only TV in its class that has the legs distance short enough to fit on my TV Stand. Otherwise I would have gotten the Q60.
The reason I gave it 3 stars and not 5 is that i don't think the 8 series is a necessary model (it really is not a bad TV). But seriously, either get the 7 series or Q60 if you can.

Ok I’m gonna be honest, I don’t care about tvs so this review is coming from someone who was happy with a 43” No-K ten year old television. It was also Samsung so I figured it was a good enough brand.
My husband is a tech and electronics junkie. He picked it out. He likes the refresh rate and the nice picture quality.
The menu to me is too busy but its not difficult to use. I love the remote because it’s so simple and similar to Apple TV. Definitely made for people who stream as opposed to people who have to punch in the channel numbers.
You can control your competing brand sound bars with the tv remote which is cool.
My complaints are that it is sometimes difficult to see the picture clearly in the daytime and at night you should definitely not have any lights on. We got one of those light strips from ikea and put it on the back of the tv so it’s literally back lit and that’s ok because it can’t interfere with the actual screen and cause glare.
Every once in a while the TV set creaks like it’s too heavy for its legs. The legs are in the shape of an upside down T and I feel like it’s more wobbly than other Samsung stands.
It’s also slightly tilted backward but it’s level on its feet so I don’t know if we got a wonky foot or if I’m just over critical.
We mostly watch movies or binge shows like Killing Eve or TWD and it’s great for that. Probably nice for sports. Husband plays PS4 on it and it made Red Dead 2 look like a movie.
We got it on sale for under $1000 in January and we use it every night. Our electric bill didn’t go up and so far it’s been a good tv.

This is my 3rd Samsung TV, 1st Smart and yes I'd say she's smart alright. I like all the features and picture quality is outstanding!
The remote is user friendly scrolls smooth, quick and easy through apps of MANY options. My only complaint is the remote has Netflix, Prime and Hulu buttons on it that are 1) not necessary 2) I don't subscribe to all 3 of said app buttons and 3) OFTEN get easily bumped and will leave what you were watching and you have to answer it's questions to leave, then try to find where you were originally watching. Royal pain!!!
Samsung should remove the 3 buttons, or let the purchaser choose the ability to self program the apps they want the button s to do. As is done with the TVs "desk top" app choses which are easy to customise: add/remove/move left to right GREAT TV highly recommend!

This is our second recent Samsung TV purchase. I have owned a few Vizio’s and an LG flat screen and they’ve been good for the price. The LG started just doing its own thing as far as changing sources and switching off, but this isn’t an LG review. My other Samsung is identical to this one other than it is a QLED. We needed something for a high traffic living room that was an everyday TV and this more than fit the bill. My other is for a family room that we use for movie nights, sporting events, PPV’s and XBox. The guy at the store told me that this one prob wouldn’t be as bright and it wouldn’t have ambient lighting or screen savers. I don’t know about ambient lighting but this TV is almost identical to my QLED downstairs in terms of clarity of the picture, colors and darks and all around features. Plus it was about $1500 less. I could’ve saved myself some money LOL! Anyways, did a lot of research and Samsung hangs out at the top as far as almost everything. I hear the customer service is light years ahead of everyone. The setup was amazingly easy and fast. And I know it may sound minuscule, but I love the simplistic remote and the integration with Alexa, even though I don’t use her for the TV. Screen mirroring is phenomenal with all our Apple devices...yes, Samsung plays nice with Apple. And getting all the YouTube TV, Amazon Prime TV, Netflix, Disney+ and all the other apps was so simple. Would not hesitate on getting a Samsung TV EVER!!!!
