So far, VERY unsatisfied with this TV. Picture does not look natural, in spite of several attempts to adjust fine settings. Horribly contrasty and disappointing. I think I made a mistake selecting this model and brand. Whites are too bright; no dark area detail.

      MySparty,

We appreciate your feedback on the image quality of your Q80A TV. To ensure your image is fully optimized, please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1904.0 which includes picture quality updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.

If the picture is still not to your liking after performing any necessary updates, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.

You can select the Picture Mode that provides the best viewing experience. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
      1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
      2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
      3) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
      4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
      5) Filmmaker Mode: You can watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.

You can also go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > to manually fine tune your image.

For further assistance with settings adjustments, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week. Our LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

This is literally the worst TV I have ever owned. Just purchased this TV and the picture is horrible. Support cannot do anything to help. I have changed all settings on it and gone to the expert settings and tried that as well. Literally nothing I do works. If the channel is 4K then the picture is good. If the channel is not 4K, good luck not getting a headache trying to figure out what you are watching. Streaming is good with good picture, but normal television that isnt 4K sucks. And no there isn't a protective film across the front of the television either. I've had the television for a few days anditerally tried just about every setting i could think of and it does not make a difference at all. Definitely taking this television back. My 5 hear old samsung has better picture quality than this one.

      Hello Research12,

Thank you for your review of the Samsung Q80A TV. Your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with our internal product team. To optimize your picture quality, please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1560.5 which includes picture quality updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.

Please keep in mind, the image quality on your screen depends on the source and the connection. HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing; and when possible, 4K content will provide the best picture quality. The TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it. The closer the signal is to 4K, the better it will look coming out.

If there is anything we can do to improve your experience such as helping to optimize settings, please let us know. You can reach Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST M-F (9AM – 6PM EST Sat). Or text HELP to 62913.

      umer,

Thank you for purchasing the 2021 Q80A QLED 4K Smart TV and sharing your thoughts on the image quality. Quantum Dot technology powers over a billion brilliant shades of vivid and lifelike colors that stay true regardless of the scene’s brightness, and the Quantum Processor 4K elevates every picture to 4K.

If you are uncomfortable with the default brightness settings, you can customize the brightness level between 0 – 50 to your preference. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Brightness.

You can also try different Picture Modes to see which best fits your needs. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Mode for the below choices:
      1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
      2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
      3) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
      4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
      5) Filmmaker Mode: You can watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.

Intelligent Mode also enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Home > Settings > General > Intelligent Mode Settings. Adaptive Picture, which is among the options, optimizes brightness and provides the best picture quality in real time, based on the lighting condition and the content you're viewing.

I hope you can use these adjustment recommendations to set the image to your liking. If you would like further assistance with settings, features, or functions, please reach out to Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST M-F (9AM – 6PM EST Sat). Display is clear and vibrant and for 90% of people this is all they will see. Technically this TV has some issues. Each display is a gamble on how even the black levels are and the one that I received they are bad. I have light bleeding from the bottom edge which is very distracting.

I had a Samsung HL61 (61" DLP) that I purchased back in 2007 and it finally gave out. Loved it, so I purchased this 65" Q80A QLED and for watching live TV, such as the news or live sports, the picture was fantastic. The issue was watching older programs or movies, the picture was way off and looked terrible. I spent two days trying to do adjustments and researched every YouTube video on trying to correct the issue, but couldn't. Had to go back to Best Buy and exchanged it for the 75" Sony Bravia X95J which has a perfect picture without having a make any adjustments.
