Screen Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this model last night and returned it today when Best Buy opened at 11 am (read here less than 24 hours). It was our first TV purchase for almost a decade so my kids and I were super excited. That went away when doing the initial set up, the screen began displaying some sort of psychedelic lines and then puff, it went black and didn't work again. I tried the steps (over and over), including unplugging the power for 1 minute and so on but the problem continued. I went online to see if there were other people with the same issue to see how it was resolved. That's when I noticed that it happens WAY too often. I began reading the reviews and found many similar complaints. I lost trust in this brand so I returned it and ended up with an LG unit. Samsung people, need to get your reputation back on track. This only happens by producing a top-quality product and us customers will do the rest. I wish I had read the reviews before making the decision. I hope this one has any effect on any of you.

Keep On Looking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A "solar power" remote is one of the worst ideas Ive come across. I kept having to reset it even after charging with a usb-c I have not even been able to complete the initial setup because i have to reset it after each letter/ command. Samsung support on text if worthless. They have walked me thru the same you tube videos i have already watched to troubleshoot. Long time Samsung owner but will choose a different brand in the morning when i return this piece

Not impressed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok been giving this Q80A the benefit of dough for 5 days now. Tried every control available there is but the blacks are completely devoid of detail , basically black blobs. Majorly compounded in darker scenes. The sharpness is questionable in a lot of scenes as action being a a little blurry and lagging as well. For the price, right now, as much of a hassel it is this unit fails my expectations. Been looking at other brands and finding near equal performance at half the price.

DSE is bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV's this expensive shouldn't have the dreaded dirty screen effect, but it does. My older Samsung TV never had this problem.

Posted .Hi Mike,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Q80A TV and for sharing details of your image quality. Powered by machine learning technology, our powerful Quantum Processor 4K enhances picture from any source into crisp 4K action in each and every scene. To optimize your picture quality, please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1560.5 which includes picture quality updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
You may want to enable Auto Update for convenience.
If your TV's firmware is up to date and the picture you are seeing out-of-the-box is not to your liking, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.
You can select the Picture Mode that provides the best viewing experience. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
3) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
5) Filmmaker Mode: You can watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.
Intelligent Mode also enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Home > Settings > General > Intelligent Mode Settings. Adaptive Picture, which is among the options, optimizes brightness and provides the best picture quality in real time, based on the lighting condition and the content you're viewing.
You can also go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > to manually fine tune your image.
For further assistance with settings adjustments, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST M-F (9AM – 6PM EST Sat). Or text HELP to 62913.
