    Not so good

This Tv had terrible skin tones that I could never get just right. It also had the worst reflective issues making it unwatchable when ever it was night and you had any lights on in the room, especially LED. I switched to Sony OLED and now I am very happy.

    BEWARE OF THE ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING

I am very upset over the quality and basic construction of this television. Upon pulling off the protective film on this Q80T television after installation, it actually pulled off the anti-reflective coating from the tv as well. So now I have a tv that looks terrible with a massive screen imperfection. For the price of this TV you would expect basic construction to be sound.

Nice TV. Unfortunately after about four weeks two red streaks appeared on the picture. Constant no matter what the image. No exterior mark or damage to the screen.

Good picture and OS, awesome remote, some issues

In the interest of complete disclosure I will say this is my 3rd attempt at getting a new TV. I had two other high end sets that both ended up going back to the store because of a variety of issues. This set is the most expensive but also the most impressive. The remote at first is off setting because it is just so different. Once you figure it out, it works fantastically. Seriously, give it a chance. The TV base is great since it can fit on any TV stand you might have. The Tizen OS is very intuitive and stable. The downside is there are not as many apps as Android. The sound quality is fairly good but I still use my surround system. The integration with my surround system and cable box is seamless and the One remote controls both of those units as well as the TV. Now on to the picture. Every product has weak points and the picture presentation is the Q80T's Achilles heel. The brightness is there, there is virtually no blooming, and the image is crystal clear. The issues are motion stutter and "soap opera effect" . Depending on the source you are using sometimes the picture will "stutter" when someone is moving. My understanding is this has to do with frame rate of the source and the Q80T has a real issue dealing with a reduced frame rate. The "soap opera effect" means everything looks like it is a soap opera. I don't begin to have the technical expertise to explain this but once you see it you will understand. It is just a totally different looking image than you are used to seeing, unless you watch a boatload of soap operas. It is slightly annoying but you get used to it. In conclusion I believe it is the best mid range set that you can get your hands on right now.

Could be better with Dolby Vision

Honestly I was really excited when I bought this tv, because of the impressive picture quality and brightness, the black levels were respectable, and no burn-in fears. Overtime I started to realize the limitations of HDR10+ (needs content) and lack of Dolby Vision support. Another issue is that eARC is not supported on game mode HDMI port. You’ll have to run 2 separate HDMI cables if you have a game console and another for the a media receiver if you have such setup. HBO app support is nice, but HBO will begin to support Dolby Vision (Dec2020) not HDR 10+. The OS could be better and the remote is kinda annoying to use.

    Great picture - Poor remote

I have had this TV for about a week. So far I love it - It was between this and a Sony but since I am not wall mounting it I wanted a solid center stand. I didn't want OLED because of possible burn-in. This is a major upgrade from my old Samsung 55" 3D HDTV. I upgraded my HDMI cables to 4K. The picture on this TV is amazing. Even HD content seems sharper and clearer. I adjusted the setting to those recommended on rtings.com and am satisfied. I may tweak them as time goes on. I know there are TV's that are less expensive but I wanted at least a 120Hz refresh rate and many cheaper TV's are only 60Hz. For my usage, primarily Movies and Sports, this TV fit the bill. My only complaint is the remote is too minimalistic. It is not intuitive at all (I hate reading the manual). Fortunately I have a Harmony which solves the problem. Also, the audio is pretty good, however, I do have a Bose Solo 5 soundbar which is a great improvement. All in all I am very happy so far with this TV

This is one awesome TV. Spent hours comparing between this and a newer model but after reading the potential for burn in, my kid loves to pause the TV, and that in a side by side comparison some differences are there but absent it, nothing is really missed. So went with the Samsung QLED. The picture is pretty darn awesome as in clear, sharp and good color. My wife watching one of the "stories" said it was too much to see those face details and ruining her image of them. Heck! Some been on the show for 20+years, what she expects...LOL. Anyhow, the blacks are dark enough but leaves the shadows and greys. The TV evens shows when the WiFi gets a little weak. But the picture does not disappoint. The Tizen interface is pretty easy to work with everything mostly on the bottom while able to see the TV program. I like it better than the Android interface for sure. We are lucky though to get all the apps we wanted but still to explorer for more. Do not like having to have an account to download apps but oh well. The sound works well no disappointing events with it. Have to get used to the remote without numbers or letters. This was a good buy even more with the sale price.

I wasn’t certain that this set would measure up to expectations. Online reviews were good generally but nearly all criticized Samsung for changing their numbering system which leads one to believe that this set is comparable to the 2019 model Q80. In fact it is closer to last year’s Q70 model and priced accordingly. A bit of consumer trickery that isn’t appreciated. The next model up is significantly more expensive. However, there are some upgrades in the TV that seemed like it was worth taking a chance. This set replaces a 60” Samsung from 2013. There’s a world of difference in 7 model years and naturally we wanted to take advantage of the many technology advances while upgrading in size a bit as well. The 65” is perfect for our room with an approximation 8‘ to 10’ viewing distance. I’m not a particularly knowledgeable TV consumer. I know what I like and I definitely know what I don’t like. This set is very easy to use and view. It has a beautiful picture quality, especially in 4K high def content. Blacks are excellent considering it is not an OLED set. I own an excellent new Sony OLED as well and this picture, most of the time, is just as satisfying. It does not perform as well off axis as my OLED but that isn’t an issue in the room it is set up in. It is brighter than the OLED and for sports I prefer it. I have an aftermarket SONUS sound bar with this set so I cannot review the speakers. Generally I don’t like built in speakers on TVs so someone else would have to comment on the speakers. Im very happy with this television. For me there is a law of diminishing returns. I am no videophile. Neither my eye or ears are fine tuned enough to discern the minutia of high end televisions. This one is just fine, whether it is marketed as top of the line or not. Like I said, I know what I like and I know what I do not like. One can pick nits with any consumer product. There are some issues with this tv that take getting used to. The remote interface and remote unit itself isn’t my favorite but I’ve gotten used to it. The menu system isn’t as intuitive as I would like. Picture fine tuning choices are limited and up scaling from STV is just average. Other than those few things, I’m a happy camper.

The 65" Q80T TV is slightly heavy and awkward to carry. It takes two people to tote it around. But, it is a great TV. Very well packed. Easy to unpack. Easy to attach stand. Hook up is normal. Did some fine tuning. I thought the factory Brightness was too much so I toned it down a few notches. I kicked up the Sharpness a tad, but left everything else alone. I like the Samsung remote a lot. Easy to use, but only use it for technical purposes and Smart TV applications. I use the cable remote for everyday use. I think Samsung is the best. Price is always a bit higher, but I bought it with interest free credit which eases the pain. I would definitely buy it again.

Great TV. Unusually good sound if you're not into sound bars, sub woofers, etc. Very good color. I chose to adjust the color to my liking with the expert settings while leaving "Adaptive Picture" and "Intelligent" sound mode turned on allowing the TV to adjust brightness and volume to varying room conditions. The room has large west-facing windows and in the afternoon the sun streams in. The extra bright picture, and glare screen on the Q80T (not found on Q70T and lower) does an amazing job (exceeding my expectations) at eliminating the glare that made us tilt our old TV various ways to try to see it. We spent a bit more money on this TV because of the sound, glare screen, brightness, and of course the sharp high refresh rate and 4K picture and color. We do not regret it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this TV. Easy to set up and once watching...wow. I purposely waited on the Q80 to go on sale (waited almost a year) because i was in love with 2 things about it vs. the Q70 (the obfuscated reflection of light and the ability to get the same view from any angle in the room (the picture doesn't fade from wide angles). But when i got it home i was blown away by the brightness of it. I loved my tv before it (a 13 year old Samsung 46" 120 hz basic LCD). In fact, i didn't get a new one because i loved the picture on the old one so well. But I moved the old one into my bedroom and now when i turn it on I go, "wow, was the picture always this cruddy?" haha I've gotten so spoiled with this TV. Best TV i've ever owned -- bar none.

I just moved and the new owners bought my Q6. When deciding between the 60, 70, 80 or 90 I opted for the q80T as it was going in a room that gets a lot of sunlight and I was worried about glare and reflections. Once I figured out there was a plastic sheet on the screen to protect it and pulled it off, I’m very happy with my purchase. Almost no glare or reflections even with the lights on at night. Also, I love the Samsung remote and ease of use. I now have four Samsung TV’s due to the quality, remote, and ease of use as well as the gorgeous picture. I highly recommend this TV!

The information can be confusing 2020 65'' Q80

The lineup change for the 2020 year brought some confusing information for the Q80R/Q80T changes. I upgraded from a M60-C3 already replaced power board and then the backlight failure caused this 2020 purchase. BIG upgrade I can say. This 2020 Q80R is fantastic. I did not have the previous Q80T and a lot of people are saying this year is the "new 70T" and that might be true but this 2020 model I can say has all the bells and whistles. The anti-glare is amazing. Stock out the box sound and picture are incredible. The only minor thing I can notice is that under certain conditions if you have a keen eye you can spot small dimming on the corners but the conditions are usually extremely temporary. But other than that I haven't noticed any other imperfections. I find myself even enjoying commercials now because it looks so good! The remote is a little small for my taste and lacks a lot of physical input. My old remote had a qwerty keyboard on the back and I miss it. In order to fast forward or rewind you have to first press the pause/play button THEN you have the ability to do those functions. And to switch back to cable from amazon/netflix etc.. you have to navigate the interface to do so. Minor problems but they can be a little annoying at times. But it truly is an all in one remote.

I have been very happy with my Samsung 65" Class QLED Q80 Series 4K UHD TV Smart LED with HDR TV. The picture is fantastic. It can be viewed at tight angles without having the picture wash out. The size is perfect for our family room. We had a 60 LG Plasma before and we were able to use the same mounting bracket and lower this TV more to allow a more comfortable viewing. The size is noticeably larger and I have no regrets. I love the remote. It is thin lite weight very simple to use. Its not intimidating at all. This TV is less likely to burn in an image on the screen verses an OLED TV. That was important since I tend to watch the same shows often. An Icon left in the same position too long will eventually burn a shadow of that image on the screen. If you do buy an OLED just be sure to switch around programs more frequently and you will be fine. I have no regrets buying this product. We had the Geek Squad install the TV and they (2 men) were fabulous. We bought the "Total Tech Support" service and it is worth it. It has already paid for itself and we have almost a whole year to go. I have been very happy with Best Buy, and their products and services.

Great gaming TV, Smart OS horrible

The TV is amazing for gaming. I bought 3 of these, one 85", and two 65". The PS4 Pro looks great on it. I originally bought these for x3 PS5 setups, taking full advantage of the 4k, 240 hz and rich blacks. I only have a few issues with the Samsung Q80T Series: 1: No siri/apple home connection. It's compatible with Alexa and another smart home app but not apple friendly unless you connect an Apple Tv device. It will not connect to an apple home pod (via wifi/bluetooth) to play sounds either. 2. The smart hub (operating system) is horrible. No way to turn off the Samsung tv tips and even after months of use Samsung TV is still telling me how to push up or down on the controller to change the channels. Trust me, I went through every menu and googled for it many times. It's also not very responsive. Rotating between apps is choppy and sometimes freezes up on you. "IN" the menu itself there are a ton of ads. Yea, I said it, "ADS" which you can not get rid of. Really Samsung? 3. The ambiance feature sounds great in theory but it is so limited I wonder why even have it? You can choose from 6-8 themes and the ambient scenes look horrible. It's so bad they discontinued some of the features (like the live news wall scene). I thought, "How cool to leave the tv on ambient setting and display local news or yahoo finance?" WRONG. It was reporting like 4 articles from around the world PER DAY. Random articles from Denmark to South Africa. You can't specify the news category or region. It's worthless. There were literally NO SETTINGS. Discontinued as Samsung must have severed their relationship with the company providing the news feed. Then I thought, "okay cool, let's try the wall clock feature and let it sit idle but show the clock" WRONG. The clock is so ugly. MOST IMPORTANT (if you've read this far you are seriously still considering) the tv itself looks AMAZING. If you're dead set on best image quality in 4k I don't think this TV can be beat. This TV is all about the resolution and refresh rate for gaming; just know everything else sucks. Physically it is beautiful and made with quality.

FYI - I am an actual customer, not paid or compensated in any way for this review. I thought my 5 year old Samsung JU6500 was great, and it still is, but the upgrade in color and clarity of the Q80T was immediately noticeable and beyond what I expected. I was actually just wanting to move up from 60" to 65" for my den, after moving the 60" to the basement, and strongly considered the Q60 and Q70 for the price. After reading other reviews, and then seeing the Q80 in person, it was a no brainer at $1,495. To me, the differences between the Q80 and the Q90 are splitting hairs, and I don't play video games, so not worth the extra $500. Once I got it home and did some fine-tuning to the settings, I have no regrets except my den isn't large enough for a 75" set! I got the sound bar too, and it's shiny and new, but honestly not noticeably different or better than my 15 year old Bose. For the Q80, the main difference I understand is the 50 zones of rear lighting vs. 10 zones of edge lighting. Whatever that means, the picture is brighter and cleaner IMHO, and the color is absolutely amazing. Also, having all of the apps that I use available directly on the TV instead of having to use both an Apple device and a Roku is EXTREMELY convenient. My only complaint is there is no button on the remote to go directly to the settings, but otherwise I am a very happy camper!

So I'm happy that I bought this, I was really looking for a TV that was suitable for me, that is a good gaming TV with a great image (without burning). the transfer to the QLED 8T series was magical. And this is the first time that I have a television that does not require a third party platform to transmit television. It's much easier, it saves energy (hence $$) by running a device, and the streaming performance is 10 times better (fewer interruptions or errors I got from apps like funimation on PS4). So i'm happy I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest feedback as I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest feedback

Pros: Love the picture, the apps, how easy it is to use, the Samsung TV is nice, the ambient mode is cool & gets used much more than I thought it ever would. The Cons: Smart remote is more of a pain. Speakers on the tv crackle, hooked up to soundbar & sound cuts out & skips. So then hooked up to my Denon receiver & sound cuts out less often but will still cut out, feel like for the brand & for the money this should never be an issue. Would've easily been 5 stars if not for sound issues.

Easy to set up but you definitely need 2 people to set up due to its size. Love the sound quality and it’s a great size tv for being 10-12 feet away. Love it this far. Great for sports. Easy to use with Netflix given one touch on remote. Wish it had a youtubetv or Hulu one touch button on remote.

I purchased this TV deciding on a QLED vs. an OLED even though it was not quite rated as high. This seemed better due to price, no burn-in, and less calibration. The TV was easy to set up and is great. The delivery and carry-off of old TV was also great. I wish Ii had waited two weeks for your lower price.
