Sadly this model doesn’t meet any expectations. It was literally bought for the one and only reason of how bright it is and the room/space. If you think bright means better I feel bad for you but this is a bright tv to use in a bright room. With the boycott of Dolby vision means this tv is worthless along with the picture processor. Samsung’s use of artificial colors and over saturation mean true to life picture doesn’t exist. People who say this does great blacks need to see an optometrist immediately.

DrTelevision,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung QN90A TV and for sharing details of your image quality. Quantum Matrix Technology is powered by exclusive Mini LED designed technology engineered to give you hyper-focused brightness and dimming in all the right areas. To optimize your picture quality, please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1560.5 which includes picture quality updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
If you are uncomfortable with the default brightness settings, you can customize the brightness level between 0 – 50 to your preference. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Brightness.
You can also try different Picture Modes to see which best fits your needs. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Mode for the below choices: 1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments. 2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience. 3) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room. 4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments. 5) Filmmaker Mode: You can watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.
Intelligent Mode also enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Home > Settings > General > Intelligent Mode Settings. Adaptive Picture, which is among the options, optimizes brightness and provides the best picture quality in real time, based on the lighting condition and the content you're viewing.
I hope you can use these adjustment recommendations to set the image to your liking. If you would like further assistance with settings, features, or functions, please reach out to Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST M-F (9AM – 6PM EST Sat). At first let me say I thought I was really going to enjoy this Flat panel, but after the 2nd week of playing video games on my PS4 I noticed a flickering square in top middle portion of the screen, not to mention I noticed a lot of blooming around bright white objects, not sure if it was a software bug or if I lost the so called Panel lottery lol and got a defective screen from Samsung, either way for an $1800 QLED TV this is unacceptable, never had this problem with Vizio flat panels I've purchased in the past and those were in the $500 $600 dollar range, don't blow your money on these expensive QLEDs its not worth your money, I ended up exchanging it for an LG C-1 OLED hopefully this will be the keeper.

Reflective coating is unbearable

|
Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The new anti-glare coating Samsung has gone to is awful. I’ve been a die hard Samsung fan when it comes to TVs. Every TV I’ve ever purchased has been a Samsung. I never thought I would buy an LG but that’s exactly what I returned this TV for. I went with the LG C1. Yes I know that is comparing an OLED panel to an LCD panel but the reflective properties (when the TV is off) should be similar. Even the LG NanoCell 90 and LG 90 Series QNED Mini-LED have better reflective properties. Some of the lower end Samsung models as well like the Q80A.
This Samsung (and some of the higher end Sonys) use this reflective coating that not only shows a concentration of reflection at the light source but also causes rainbow streaking across the entire panel. Even a light that isn’t directly reflected on the panel (off to the side) causes streaking across the panel and I don’t even understand how that’s possible. I would rather only see a reflection concentrated at the light source personally.
I would recommend looking at every TV in the store, waiting for a dark scene and checking the reflection of the lights before purchasing. I have zero regrets with my exchange.
The 1st two pictures are the Samsung and the last two pictures are the LG under the exact same lighting conditions.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for choosing the Samsung 65” QN90A and sharing your experience. Please check that you have removed the protective film covering the TV screen. It is likely that the barcode sticker and any markings you are reporting are imprinted on the protective film.
Please be aware that not all TVs come with a protective film. If there is a protective film on your screen, it will be indicated with a blue tab in the upper left corner. The tab will have an illustration showing how to remove the protective film. If you do not have a blue tab in the upper left corner, then that means there is no protective film on the screen, so please do not try to peel off anything. You will damage what is actually the screen.
If you tried removing the film and only removed the blue tab, then please affix a piece of adhesive tape to where the blue tab was and try removing the film again.
If you have checked that there is no protective film and are still seeing the barcode sticker on the screen, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG so we can further assist you.

Bad Value

|
Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Pros: The lightest parts of the screen are brighter, and it’s more burn in resistant.
Cons: Even on its brightest setting, the black crush destroys all shadow detail. The dirty screen effect is worse than burn-in because it’s not covered by my extended warranty. Everything between the brightest and darkest parts of the screen are still dimmer than on my LG GX OLED. Also, the color accuracy is suboptimal. The OS doesn’t pass though Atmos on anything but Netflix. Peacock app is not available.
Recommendations: Trust the reviewers. Do NOT buy this piece of junk. Buy an LG OLED deal with bad remote, buy a good mount/stand, and get a stream box for HBO max on the LG.

Love this TV! its easily the best TV I own. I'm upgrading from a ThinQ LG tv so this is a huge upgrade. Very bright and the colors are amazing. Everyone I've shown the tv has been blown away. There are so many features that I feel like I'm still learning the TV. Playing my series X on it is a great experience and the game modes are pretty cool as well. Setup was super easy and I had it up and running within 10 mins. The solar powered remote is amazing. Looking forward to trying out some of the other features such as the Samsung health. I watched plenty YouTube reviews and they had me nervous but I love it! Im very excited to spend more time in front of my new QLED

Absolutley Stunning picture quality!

Let me just say the picture quality will blow your mind, I originally purchased a Hisense U8G 65" and was very displeased, it had several Screen issues with banding, sceen uniformity, Ghosting, and motion artifacts, you can find more info in my Hisense U8G review. So I decided to exchange it and fork over an extra $800.00, let me tell you it may seem like a lot to spend on a TV, but when I pulled this thing out of the box and hooked it up, I was absolutley stunned by how perfect the picture was for a QLED Panel, its as close to OLED as your going to get with out screen burnin, the brightness and black levels were superb, motion handling more than surpassed my expectations espeacially in game mode when playing Red Dead 2, color gamut is outstanding once I adjusted some settings, the native setting is some what inaccurate but once I changed it to auto it looked so much better. There were some things I didn't like so much, the stand was some what a pain to install and was a little wobbly, this thing is also somewhat heavy so keep that in mind, remote was really innovative using a rechargable solar panel which I thought was cool, Overall I still give this Tv a 4.5 out of 5, just becuase the price is still a bit high, but what you get is a fantastic picture that no other company can hold a candle to.

Hello Elliot,
Thank you for your review of the QN90A Neo QLED TV and for sharing your feedback regarding screen glare. Please know that your TV is engineered with Anti-Reflection Technology designed to minimize ambient light reflections. We understand that light conditions of each room environment are different. For optimal glare control, we recommend repositioning the TV to minimize incident light falling on the screen or consulting a professional installer.
Please know there are image adjustments you can make to optimize your picture to suit your preferences.
You may also want to try adjusting additional picture settings if the picture you are seeing is not to your liking. You can go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings and configure the TV settings to your taste with functions such as Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Color, Tint (G/R), Picture Clarity Settings, Local Dimming, Contrast Enhancer, and many more.
The quality of the picture is just perfect. After playing with some adjustments. The operating system is easy to use and easy to get used to it. The internal speakers are pretty good too, no regret for not getting a soundbar. Bestbuy installed the unit, and they were professional. Very clean and quick job, bravo! If you're swinging between Oled or Neo Qled, don't worry about stuff like "Oled's blacks are better". They are not. The picture is bright, even when the sun shines in our living room. Motions are smooth, no blurs, or any other problems. The dynamic range is awesome, dark parts in a movie do not turn into black. The TV easily mapped all of our smart equipment and connected to them. The TV's upconverting capability (1080p to 4k) is wonderful, I couldn't be happier. If you have a bright room, this TV will deliver perfect pictures effortlessly.

This tv is without a doubt the best thing that has come out in quite a while. I currently own a CX Oled and a C6 oled. I recently purchased the Q900TS 8k and returned it for this. I couldn’t be happier and it puts both my Oleds to shame. While you may not get perfect blacks all the time like you get with oled, the trade off is an extremely bright and colorful image and HDR that will blow your mind. The black levels are so close to oled that it doesn’t make me wish for better contrast. I use it mostly with my Xbox Series X and it’s the best gaming tv I have ever used. I have been searching for the “perfect” tv since 2016 owning so many different flagship sets along the way and going through the whole panel lottery. I can honestly say that this QN90A has exceeded all my expectations and more and is the best tv I have ever purchased. Until oled is safely able to hit 1500 to 2000 nits, this is the best tv on the market right now. It just does everything so well and then some. They hit it out of the park with this one, great job Samsung.

Great TV that has its place in a world of OLEDs

I wanted to upgrade our 55 inch TV to a 65 inch which fits our space better and did a lot of comparisons between OLEDs and Samsungs QLED technology. The conclusion I came to is that each type of TV has its place and that the Samsung QLED was the right choice for our situation due to the following advantages:
(1) Better picture in brighter room - I compared an OLED and QLED side by side at my company (we have both in a break room) and the QLED looked much better when there is ambient lighting in the room due to the higher brightness. Our viewing space has a window opposite of the TV so the QLED works much better.
(2) Less screen reflection - Again comparing the two technologies in a well lit space, the QLED had less reflection on the screen.
(3) Negligible Burn In - Since we do a lot of gaming, burn in was a concern with OLED. Samsung claims burn in is not an issue with QLED, and even provides a 10 year no burn in warranty.
In conclusion, the Samsung QN90A was the perfect choice for our viewing space. The picture looks amazing and is a big improvement over our previous TV (also a Samsung QLED but a smaller and older model). If we had a darker viewing space and primarily watched movies, a QLED TV may have been a better option due to the highest possible black levels. But for all around viewing of movies, TV and gaming in a well lit room, this TV was the best choice for us. Look forward to getting a color calibration done since this will improve the picture even more since TVs out of the box are generally calibrated for TV show rooms.

Enjoying this TV for a couple weeks now. Picked this over the LG OLED since I don't want to have the thought of burn-in being a constant issue. Super bright, contrast is amazing and HDR really makes the picture pop. Movies and especially gaming on this TV is awesome. I had no idea visuals could be this good since I was upgrading from a 5+ year old Samsung. The difference is amazing!

Amazing TV, especially for the price. I assumed sound would be terrible as TVs are thinner. Granted a sound system is always best, but until I decide on one, the TV speaker quality is impressive. The Picture quality matches my expectations. Glare is reduced. Has a standard and filmmaker mode that are great for movie lovers. Watched 4k version of Godzilla vs King Kong and no issues with image or blur. I have seen other comments for the larger 75 and 85 inch sizes having issues with Cable broadcasts running through them in regards to picture quality and motion. This does not appear to be an issue with the 65 inch. The remote is amazing, controls my cable box, recharge via solar or electric. No batteries needed. Screen is capable of multi view, sync and use your phone to broadcast a mirror image of yourself while you follow a youtube workout, etc. Can sync a bluetooth speaker to it. In short, tons of features, decent sound and great picture with an amazing simplified remote.
