    this taught me not to buy samsung appliances. It broke down within 6 months and samsung seems unable to get a technician to show up for over a month. They appear to have one 'registered service agent' company for the Bay Area and act like its not their problem that they dont have availability. They refused to pay for a general appliance repair person who could show up same day. Their goal, I believe, is to make contacting and working with their customer support group so hard that you just get frustrated and give up.

    Great stacking dryer

    I bought this dryer to replace a Samsung dryer that died after 8 years of use. I was not thrilled with the previous dryer, but my Samsung washer was still doing great and I had to stack a dryer on top of it. I took a chance on this dryer and couldn't be happier! It dries better than my old dryer ever did. It has a really great lint trap that catches everything!!!! We used to have to clean out the dryer vent in our wall because the lint didn't get caught properly in the dryer and started to clog up the whole venting system. That was dangerous! We don't have that problem anymore. This dryer functions well, looks nice, and stacks perfectly on top of my Samsung dryer. I couldn't be happier!

    We've had this for not even 1.5 years and starting right over the year mark (literally the day after our warranty ended!) this thing has been nothing but trouble. It had belt issues, we got that fixed, then the drum began cracking. There is now a giant crack in the drum for no apparent reason and our clothes keep catching on it and tearing, so we are forced to buy a new dryer. Because our warranty is expired, neither Samsung nor Best Buy will do anything, despite this dryer being so new. We haven't overloaded it and have treated it carefully, yet it's falling apart. Absolutely awful quality and a huge headache.

    I personally did not need a higher end model with more bells and whistles. I have owned this for over a month now and feel like it it works well for my needs. I did have this and the matching washer delivered. The deliver guys removed my old machines and patiently waited for me to clean the floor before bringing the new machines in. They hooked everything and showed me how to use the machines. They were very professional and polite. They also hauled all the packaging material away for me. So I am satisfied with the machine, the performance, and the service I received!

    Dryer Heating Element Died

    I purchased this unit on September 5th. It was delivered on the 11th. I have had this dryer for just over 3 months and the heating element has gone out. I will be contacting Samsung this evening to get this repaired. This just does not give me piece of mind if this unit already has an issue this soon from purchase. My last Maytag dryer lasted for 15+ years without any major issues other than a dryer belt. I will update my rating as long as Samsung makes right on this.

    I am very happy with my dryer! Depending on the load, it dries my clothes so quick! The screen where the lint gets stuck to is very easy to clean! I am now finding out that the slot that screen goes into also accumulates lint so that will be more to clean as well. Maybe it's my laundry, but I have had the dryer for a month and I had to just clean it due to the thin layer of lint that has been accumulated on the dryer. No big deal though. It's very quiet, and it even reminds you to get off your butt and go get the laundry that's ready in the dryer so it doesn't get wrinkled (the little reminder song is that long). Overall, I love it! :)

    broken after a year and a half

    I bought 2 of the same dryers. The first one worked fine for 2 years. We left it when we moved. So we bought the same one again. This time it broken after a year and a half. And Samsung kept BS about sending someone over to fix it. Plus parts would not be cover by manufacture! Best Buy sale man told me that parts would be covered within 2 years. So we called BestBuy! Same problem. They said someone came to our house, but no one answer the door. This was BS. Because someone was home waiting all day and they knew our address because they delivered the washer and dryer before. So Stay away from this dryer!

    Great dryer. I like the lint filter because it is doubled up and provides better filtering. It also has a door that opens and closes when you pull filter out so that nothing can fall in case you forget to put it back. Like the LED light inside. The only thing is that I have mine double stacked with washer and the display is angled up and display is around 6.5 to 7 ft. high and it is hard to see what your settings are set too. I am 5'11" and have trouble my wife is 4'5" lol hunny come set dryer. every time. Great if they are side by side though because the angle would help see like the washer because it is on bottom.

    I had the dryer 2 months and I am already have problems. It turns off prematurely after running for about three minutes. I have been waiting over 3 weeks to get a repair tech to my house from Samsung. Don't try to take it back to Best Buy after. 15 days it will not be accepted. If you need a dryer or company that is reliable these are not them. I'm very disappointed that I even have this dryer in my house. Talk about a poor life decision. Take a gamble if you want too, I did and look where I am.

      I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your DV42H5000EW. Please note that there are several factors that could be causing the Dryer to shut off early. In particular, it's very important to make sure the lint filter and vent ducts are free of clogs that could inhibit air flow. If the Dryer can't exhaust safely, it needs to turn off to prevent overheating. Other factors that could be causing this and tips for resolving the issue can be found on pages 33-34 of the User Manual.

    Nice, but not as good as the washer

    This dryer is good, but not great. It dries the clothes. But, I expect more from it. Compared to my 15 year old lowest model Maytag that it replaced, I really didn't notice any improvement. In fact sometimes it is a bit frustrating. There are many cycles to choose from and most of them have some kind of auto-sense that shuts off the dryer when it thinks the clothes are dry irregardless of how much time is left in the cycle. This doesn't always work and sometimes shuts off when the clothes are wet. You can set it for timed dry which works like the old machines do and runs for a fixed time without sensing. I usually just use this setting.

    Needed Repair After 1.5 Years of Use

    They don't make them like they use too. I remember my grandma's appliances working for 20 years or more. I've had my Samsung Dryer for 1.5 years and today it started to make screeching sounds as the drum was turning. I called Samsung and they said that can happen when there are heavy items in the dryer. I was drying bedding (sheets, blanket), those things you expect to be able to dry. The price was good when I bought it but now I'm paying $100's for repair. Buy with caution.

    Worst appliance I have ever owned

    This dryer has blown thermal fuses over and over again. My family has replaced dozens of small parts on this dryer over the past 4 years. I have all Samsung appliances in my home and will be moving on from the company and best buy because of the terrible ongoing ordeal we have had with this dryer. Great for the first year but be prepared to pay out to get it repaired over and over. Customer service is out of country and useless.

    Spent a long time researching dryers and the companies that make them, and finally decided on this one because it was on a good sale. The available presets are intuitive and customizable, I can save my favorite settings for the usual loads that I do, and the installation was really painless. Most importantly, though are the sensor dry and mixed load features, which both help save electricity and protect clothes that are more sensitive to heat. These are great when you're doing loads that include cotton, sportswear, and things with garters or zippers. Oh, and it sings to you when it's done. So cute!

    I bought this online to stack on top of the matching washer so I did not see it ahead of time. I have no opinion yet on it's operation since I just got it, but BEWARE, the control panel is slanted so that when it is stacked and you are standing on the floor, you cannot see the settings very well unless you are REALLY tall or use a step stool/ladder. It would not be a problem when used side by side. Not a deal breaker, but kind of a dumb design.

    Was a bit skeptical about how well priced this machine was but I absolutely love it. It drys even our bulkiest items thoroughly and the cycle options are really useful. The only thing that I don't love is the shape of the filter. It's a little difficult to get the lint out because of the way it's shaped. Other than that, it's a fantastic machine and I would highly recommend it. We'll definitely get a lot of use out of them.

    Clothes Burritos

    Soooo no one else pulls out clothes burritos after this dryer does its thing? Big loads, small loads, it doesn't matter. Most times, because the geniuses at Samsung didn't design this dryer to reverse every now and again, I get laundry that has rolled itself into a ball that is dry on the outside and damp/wet on the inside. Of course this is frustrating because time, electricity and water are being wasted. My Samsung dishwasher is terrible too (the redeposit is ridiculous). I will NEVER buy another Samsung product.

    Efficient Dryer

    Have had this dryer for a couple weeks. We have a stacked washer and dryer in a laundry closet. The controls for the dryer are up high so we have added a stool to our laundry, no big deal. The dryer has a good tumbling action and dries clothing and towels in pretty short amount of time. Installation was done by Geek Squad who were experience at adding all the parts needed to stack the units. So far no problems. We are happy with the Samsung washer and dryer units and Geek Squads expert installation.

    Mine lasted 2.5 years - warranty is for 2 years

    My dryer broke after 2.5 years. Estimate to repair was over $500. Samsung wouldn't do anything about it because the warranty was for two years. THe repairman said the machine was faulty but the customer service representative said it was probably "user error" - despite the fact that my wife and I have never had an issue with any other dryer we have previously used. Dot buy if you are looking for a quality machine to last a decade.

    This is my second Samsung Dryer that completely lost heat. This one didn’t have any heat right after it was delivered and installed, the first lost heat after 4 years. I was on the phone for —-40 minutes—to schedule BB to pick it up and start my refund process. I have always liked Samsung, but I am now switching to a Whirlpool. We also replaced the heating element and thermostat on our first Samsung dryer with neither working. I expected the dryer to last longer than 4 years; I am not making the same mistake this this dryer.

    This unit replaced an inexpensive dryer that was approximately eight years old. I appreciate the modern lights and buttons of this unit, but in the end it still takes about 30% longer to dry a load of laundry compared to my old unit. When I go to dry my comforter, using maximum heat and the maximum time, I still have to go and run the dryer for another 30 minutes or so to get it dry. I haven't used any other newer dryers to compare their ability to generate heat so It's very hard to say if I would recommend this unit over another.
