I had an issue with the picture fluttering that ended up being my receiver. It was supposed to be 4K but couldn't keep up with this TV for some reason. I had to upgrade it and all is great now!

Nice resolution with bright screen. Great user interface and super easy to set up with the hub for connecting everything. Only issue I have is that the remote sometimes fails to connect and won't work.

The Samsung 75" Q9FN is a great TV. We previously had a 49" Full HD LCD TV. The large size of the Q9FN allows us to more comfortably accommodate friends when viewing movies. The 4k resolution combined with the large screen size allows you to sit up close to the screen for a very immersive gaming experience. The picture quality is significantly more vibrant than our old TV, even for watching SDR content. When streaming an anime episode, a friend had previously watched the same episode on her own TV and noted that it looked "more pretty" on our TV. HDR content is handled well on the TV. While watching Black Panther, we were realistically blinded by the sunsets and sunrises. The 10 bit panel also reproduces color more realistically; Okoye's gold armor was vibrant and more convincingly gold than anything I had ever seen on a TV. A few improvements Samsung needs to make for its QLED TV to really be the best would be with its local dimming algorithm and ambient mode. The TV's local dimming has some general instability. I noticed in a few dark scenes, the whole scene would brighten for a split secend, and go back to the correct brightness. It also has a bit of a delay between the scene changing and the local dimming adjusting to the new scene, causing the scene to be incorrectly bright or dark for a split second. Ambient mode does work for showing art and pictures when the TV is not in use. It needs to be improved to provide parity with the Samsung Frame TVs. The QLED TVs have to have ambient mode turned on via the ambient mode button on the remote, and after the screen turns off, ambient mode will not turn back on. The Frame TVs have art mode as their default off power mode, so when you press the power button, the TV switches to art mode automatically. Also, when the Frame TV will turn off art mode when the environment goes dark (night time) and turn it back on when the environment brightens again (day time), making it a more seamless experience. This review is based off of my experiences with a review unit that I have bought with a discount.

The picture is nice, but the software is so unpredictable. We’ve had the box go out once already and the motherboard changed in the back because the tv died after having it less than a year. If I’m gaming on it, it randomly opens the tvplus app. It’s definitely not worth this price or the headache that has come with it.

TV worked for 3 hours, then shut off and refused to turn back on. In researching the problem, I learned that is a common problem with this TV. So I returned it and bought an LG OLED, which got delivered today, So far so good with that one!

Great image - with other issues

A few things… I’ve had my 75” set about a month now – and really like the picture. Out of nowhere, a few days ago, it developed two (pixel wide) lines through the image, one horizontal, one vertical! I had purchased the 5 year Geek Squad protection so I called and set up a repair visit. After a day or so, I decided to call Samsung to let them check it out, and they remoted in. I had already conducted most of the troubleshooting which they wanted me to go through. The only additional step was a factory reset (and no dice fixing the issue). Samsung recommended a repair visit by their authorized tech group in our area. That happened to be Lakes Electronics. After I got off the phone with Samsung, I looked up that company, including their Yelp reviews. Let’s just say that they won’t be coming to touch this TV! Samsung must be aware of the reputation of their service provider – and must just stick with them due to … the bottom line. Thank goodness I had opted for the Geek Squad plan – I’d MUCH rather work through BestBuy than Lakes Electronics! Being an Elite Plus customer at BestBuy, rather than going forward with repairs on a faulty $6,000 TV, I elected to get a replacement set. It’s due here this coming weekend – YAY! Aside from the pixel issue, I’ve noted a couple other things:  Ambient Mode – Right out of the box, each time when set to this mode, it will totally shut the TV off after exactly 60 seconds. My son is the main "settings changer" in our family and made several tweaks to the video settings (nothing pertaining to ambient mode or timers, etc). Something which he did fixed the ambient mode issue the set shipped with. After Samsung remoted in a couple days ago, as I mentioned, they reset the TV. Just this morning, I realized that the ambient mode is back to its old “tricks”… basically only functioning as a 60 second timer! Is this a weird bug just in my set - or can anyone else replicate this in the 75" at factory default???  Audio (set to external/soundbar). I purchased a Samsung HW-N650 soundbar to go with the set. I’m not sure if this issue is with the set, or the soundbar, or is a function of how they don’t play nicely together. Either way, it’s frustrating. This only happens upon start up, and usually only if it's been off for hours, or overnight. Again, this has happened many times. When I turn the TV on and try to adjust the volume, it often indicates the audio source as TV speakers on screen (even though it's coming out of the sound bar) and hitting volume up/down on the remote has no effect. If I attempt to mute, also no effect. It's only after I grab the remote for the soundbar power it down and then power it on that finally then does the onscreen display correctly show that it's the soundbar, and I regain volume control. For a TV at this price point – I expect a nearly perfect picture and a lack of nusiances – like I’m experiencing with the ambient mode and sound issues. At least there’s a new one coming on Saturday – and hopefully these other issues will be gone with its arrival!
