Got this TV delivered 2 days before Christmas and installed in my basement, but have only streamed movies since then waiting to get cable down there. Great picture for movies and video games. First sports event I watched on this TV was the Super Bowl today. Had to finish the game on my 42” 15 year old LG. Picture on new Q80 is almost unwatchable for sports. Any high speed motion (like most of game) is blurry and jerky. Googled the problem and seems to be fairly common, but I had no idea. Super disappointing, especially for a $2200 TV with supposedly great ratings. Looks like I am outside return window, but will see what Best Buy can do - maybe an exchange?

TV is great if the quality control was good. Terrible dirty screen effect. Went through 2 of these before I got the q90t. Also had dirt in between the screen on the first one covering up a bunch of pixels. Not worth the hassle of rolling the dice on getting a good one. It's a shame because it's actually a great TV.

I am a Samsung fan but had to return tv due to picture jerking and blurry Went online and was suggested to turn off power saving options. Was done already by geek squad at install. Went to Best Buy to discuss issue with the magnolia rep and he informed me that to stay away from Samsung, that they are having mother board issues and he recommended I exchange for the LG nano. I am waiting for geek squad to swap out. Hopefully the LG is better and saved $1300

I would love to be able to tell you what a great tv this is however I don’t know. I purchased the tv on 7/3/2020. I requested that Bestbuy install due to wanting it installed on the wall. They originally set an install date for 7/7/2020 (perfect right). No that did not happen as Bestbuy cancelled that appointment saying that they did not have a technician in the area. The install was rescheduled for 7/13/2020. No one ever showed. Ridiculous! And I had to take off work. No one ever called or anything. I had to call Bestbuy. Move forward to the next appointment which has been set for 8/4/2020 (Let’s see if it happens). It’s a shame that I have to wait this long to get my tv. However I have received the bill as well as this review about the product but no tv yet. Absolutely ridiculous!!! My personal opinion is that this is ridiculous as Bestbuy is a major company and has been around for years. Ridiculous!!!!

    Underwhelmed

    Posted .

The 75" TV creates an amazing immersive environment for watching TV shows or movies. However, I think the same could be said of any 75 inch TV, and it's not necessarily because of this particular Samsung. I have owned a Samsung TV for close to 10-years, and when it came time to upgrade televisions I became unfortunately underwhelmed by this TV. Pros: The size is great. Like I said it creates an amazing cinematic experience having such a large television. I also have a Samsung Q80R Soundbar, and the ease of connectivity between the two was nice. I also think Samsung's smart TV features are intuitive and easy to use. The TV stand is also a nice height. I am in an apartment and don't want to mount my TV. I also have a soundbar with upward firing speakers so I don't want to put it on the bottom shelf of my stand. The TV stand height is perfect for the bar to sit directly in front of and not block the picture. The picture is also plenty bright in most situations. Cons: The TV will NOT support passthrough audio formatting while using the native apps. This is important if you have a soundbar or sound system that can support surround sound or Dolby Atmos. You NEED Passthrough to do this since the TV itself cannot support Atmos. After countless hours on the phone with Samsung (who were 100% not helpful and seem to know little about audio/video tech) I came to the conclusion that you CANNOT passthrough audio from the native apps to the soundbar in the audio expert settings. The option is literally greyed out while using the native apps. The only way to enable passthrough audio on the TV so that your soundbar can play Atmos audio (assuming your bar can) is to buy an external device (i.e., Apple 4K TV). Only then can you enable passthrough audio for Dolby Atmos or uncompressed 5.1+ surround. Another con is that the TV only has one 2.1 HDMI port. Not the biggest deal, but LG's CX for example has 4. This TV also does not support Dolby Vision. Samsung will swear up and down it doesn't matter, but there is a difference. Additionally, and maybe most importantly, the TV has noticeable vertical banding, dirty screen effect, and motion blur. I have tried countless different video configurations to help with all of this and it doesn't really seem to. Finally, glare is pretty bad. Everyone says Samsung is supposed to be the best with fighting glare, but the light from my window (to the left of the TV) makes it almost unwatchable in the daylight. Currently debating switching to the 65" LG CX or getting the Q90T.

I do not know why people think this is a great TV. For me, it was a big dissapointment because I found out all advanced settings were hidden to the user; instead being "automatic" through the "intelligent" mode. I for one like to be able to manually adjust and fine tune the picture and sound settings. The thing is heavier than it needs to be too. Also, it is misleading to call it a Q80 when that suggests it is a QLED which it is not. The features were limited, and I did not like that it could not output 5.1 surround through HDMI because it was "too smart" and did not recognize my reciever. Maybe mine was defective. Beware though if you like advanced settings. This TV is a robot that has been programmed to be automatic everything. Great for old people.

I hate this tv. Sports are unwatchable in HD. Action is jumpy and glitchy. The motion, which I believed would be a highlight of this tv, is the absolute worst. I regret paying so much for this tv as I had such high hopes. Unfortunately I kept it beyond the return period, spending my nights trying to adjust the picture instead of enjoying the most expensive tv I've ever purchased. Now I'm stuck.

Bought it and had installed my Best Buy Greek Squad. Had a vertical line in the panel in 6 months. Then under SAMSUNG’s manufacture warranty, Geek Squad has come out to my home 4x. The replacement panel damaged at the factory or in transit. Then they replace the control board and power supply because now the TV has flicker and powering off issues. Then it’s registered as a Q70T on all the menus. Samsung has still not replaced my TV after a month of issues. Avoid this tv, avoid Samsung and avoid Best Buy. Unbelievable why they can’t just provide a decent product.
