Outstanding performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've already had experience with two 70"+ tv's (One of them a Samsung), so was not expecting any big surprises. I wasn't ready for the difference the OLED technology delivers. But right out of the box, this Class S89C 4K is a stunner. And speaking of out of the box, you won't only be getting a Smart TV, the box it comes in is smart! I cut the tie wraps, and started lifting the box off, and my wife, reading the setup guide says to me "Now put on the legs", and I'm saying "How? You need to turn this on its side first." But the genius of the package is there are styrofoam supports that easily pull out allowing you room to insert the legs. Very smart indeed. On to installation. Samsung provides a snap on panel in the rear that neatly guides all cabling to one exit. This provides a nice clean installation and also protects the inputs/outputs from dust & debris. I had prepared the installation space beforehand; knowing that this tv was on the order of 80lbs, so I made sure that all the cabling would reach down to the floor, so that I could lift it in place in one shot without worrying about cable hookup. Since I have other Samsung devices, I already had a Samsung account, so the setup went quick & easy. While I do have a soundbar, before plugging it in, I did notice that the audio from the built in speakers was actually pretty good - certainly the best I've ever heard from a flat panel tv. When I did turn on the soundbar, it was recognized immediately even though it wasn't a Samsung, no setup required. That was another pleasant surprise, I've had nightmares before trying to get a soundbar working right, but the Samsung took it in stride. On to the picture - without taking a deep dive into the settings, you can choose from Standard, Dynamic, and Film Maker mode (basically for movies, tv dramas.) I've had this in my other tv's, and for the most part, kept the setting at Dynamic. After a day or two of watching, I noticed that my wife had changed the setting to Film Maker. She said that the picture was "too bright" and was straining her eyes. That's just a small indication of how "different" this screen is. For me, the Dynamic picture is just stunning, especially for sports. However, the feature of this set that just blew me away was how it handled the blacks. Finally, I own a tv that can correctly distinguish between dark gray and black. You know all those complaints about the Game of Thrones finale, and how you couldn't make out what was going on? Well, what you need is an OLED tv to correct all the mush. I read up on it, and on a standard LED screen, the picture is "backlit", so that you'll never really get a true black on it. With OLED, there's no backlight, and the individual pixels have the ability to turn off completely, and that's how you get a true black. I'm not an electronics engineer, but all I can say is, it gets the job done. As for voice control, you're given a choice to use Bixby or Alexa, since we're an Android family, we chose the Bixby. The remote is actually rechargeable via a USB C input, but on the backside of it there's a solar panel. The instructions tell you to place the remote face down so it can charge itself when not in use. It says that it charges off regular room light, which I found surprising, so we'll see how that goes. Tried the streaming services, Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Paramount; all worked well, most of the top ones are built in, think I only had to download Peacock. Used Bixby voice command to switch between services, no problems encountered. All in all, found setting up and using this set to be a very pleasant experience.

OLED For The Win
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing TV. We upgraded from a 58 inch LCD that was 7 years old, but also 4K. This is a huge improvement. Contrast and color are amazing with incredible black levels. The refresh rate is awesome for watching anything you can think of and great for video games on the latest generation systems. We have it in a room that gets some sunlight during the day, but the picture does not wash out. At night, it lights up the room and looks ridiculously good and sharp and bright. Being an OLED, it has incredible viewing angles. We used to argue who sat where because the old LCD TV picture washed out when not looking at it straight. Now we can sit wherever we want and this TV still looks amazing. We also have a 65" LG OLED C1 and when we need a TV for this room, looked at this and comparatively, are not disappointed. Both great TV's. I give this TV 5 stars, but in full disclosure, have a surround sound system and do not have enough data to review the speakers/sound of the TV. GO OLED!

Beautiful QD-OLED at an incredible price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.he sale price for this set was just too hard to pass up. Other than a small plate for the stand, this 77" S89C is the same as the S90C. It is super bright! After calibration, SDR brightness was turned down some and HDR content looks amazing, especially HDR10+ content from 4K discs. There are a few free calibration settings you can use online, please take the time to set this QD-OLED up if you get it. Tizen is a 7/10 for me. Its ok, kinda like google OS but not as easy as Roku. The remote does everything, however it is too thin to me and the rocker buttons are a bit clumsy. That being said, get one while you can, the 2024 models for Samsung aren't really adding much, nor are the C series LG screens. I am super happy with mine. The built in speakers I can't comment on as I have a fairly serious surround setup.

So far the best tv I’ve had.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this tv is great. Every now and then has a few hiccups but every digital tech has them so it’s nothing to discourage me. The picture quality is SUPERB! I came from an 2019 LG 4K LCD tv that was good which I had no problems with and liked the picture quality but once this tv got hooked up and turned on, WOW. The color is crazy and the black shadows is what I’ve always complained about on other tvs where it’s never black black, if that makes sense, but with this tv I don’t think I’ll ever complain on that again. Also what I like that I’ve never seen any reviews of is this tv doesn’t give out much heat if any. My room would be semi warm due to the tv and I would need the fan on but I don’t sense to have that issue for the time being. Maybe it’s still cool weather for me but when I placed my had where the vents are I didn’t feel any heat come out nor the screen, was cool to the touch after being on for about 2+ hours. A slight downfall would be the internal memory it has which honestly there really isn’t any and of course the internal speakers (which a soundbar should fix). Also the legs of the tv are not my preferred placement since it comes in the way of my soundbar so a wall mount would probably be where I’ll be leaning too in the future for this. The remote control is also cool and different from the traditional infinite buttons on other TVs and the mic is very sensitive as it picks up things by mistake and also believes my coughing is an command for something which could be annoying from time to time. Overall besides the small complaints I would definitely recommend this model to anyone else. If you have a standard lcd or led definitely upgrade to an OLED, you will not be disappointed.

Just buy it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best purchase I have ever made for a TV. The picture is so bright and clear. The price point can not be beat for an OLED. My only complaint is that the stand seems cheap but thats not a big deal to me. If you are looking for a new TV it is worth spending a little more for an OLED. I have an LG 4k UHD television as well and it doesn’t even compare to this TV.

Sharp and clear picture! Superior sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung 77" Class S89C OLED 4K Smart TV- This smart TV is the most advanced TV that I've ever owned. Every picture is very sharp, bright, and clear. The sound is amazing! This Samsung 77" Smart TV was delivered in a VERY large box. The Unpacking and Installation Guide recommends a two-person set-up, however I managed to unbox and set it on it's stand without any help. The Unpacking and Installation Guide is pretty straight forward. I had the Samsung smart TV set-up and connected in about an hour. When set-up was complete, I connected and signed into all of my apps. The Samsung TV menu has all of the most popular apps. If you have an app that is not included, it can be easily added. This Samsung Smart TV has the sharpest picture that I've ever seen on a TV! The contrast was perfect so I didn't have to adjust it. There are several options in Picture Mode-Standard, Dynamic, Eco, and Film Maker Mode. Personally, I prefer the Standard mode. When connected to the Roku app and watching a movie it automatically switched to Film Maker Mode. In sound mode there's two options-Amplify or Standard. I use Amplify. I would highly recommend this Samsung 77" Smart TV.

TV that disrupts the OLED scene, read the summary
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has created a big uproar in the OLED TV scene. Let me just summarize the debates and save you great amount of time to decide why this tv is for you: 1. Is it a WOLED TV or a QD OLED? In north America, at least the model number sold by Bestbuy, it’s a QD OLED. 2. Why does it matter if it were QD OLED? It’s the current technology that provides better and brighter picture, last year’s model uses WOLED. The same model number sold in other regions may use WOLED instead of QD OLED. 3. Should I buy this TV or the S90C, higher model means better TV, right? Well, if you really want to spend more money for what basically is the same quality of TV, yeah you can do that because you can. 4. What? If S89C is actually the same quality of TV as S90C, why does it have different model number? This TV is Bestbuy’s exclusive. This is just my opinion and analysis but consider this: big retailer does this all the time because they have the ability to sell many many of the products. Manufacturer agrees to produce specific model number for a particular big retailer thus driving the price lower for the consumer because the MSRP is tailored to the big retailer’s need. 5. Is there a significant difference between S89C and S90C? Well, they use the same QD OLED technology and both of them has the filmmaker mode, uses the same remote, etc. S90C’s Even if there is a difference, it’s probably insignificant, which I have not discovered in almost 2 weeks of ownership. So, my final take on the TV: this is a great TV that performs really well not just for watching TV. I use it for gaming as my gaming machine is capable to make use of the 144hz frame rate for gaming and the result is excellent. I also use the gaming mode and play games directly from TV through cloud gaming. Nvidia Geforce Now is supported by the TV and the experience of playing AAA games through cloud gaming is just great. Typical to OLED TV, the design is attractive and yes the anti-glare coating on this TV performs well. This TV is also future proof as it supports Dolby Atmos. I use high end sound bar so I don't use the TV's built-in speakers. It has built-in Bluetooth connectivity and also has E-Arc port. Content upscaling also works well and the picture quality is miles ahead from LED TV. Finally, the price when Bestbuy has them for sale for this much of tech and capabilities, it’s just a no brainer in the OLED TV category.

Splendid Value
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent TV. Hooked up to Apple TV 4K 64M Wireless version. Didn't notice any dead pixels. Watched Super-bowl on YTTV 4K. Splendid picture! Didn't realize what we were missing.Watched YT selection of 4K nature videos, equally splendid. Samsung UI is essentially the same as my prior seven year old 65 inch 8K series TV. A bit clunky. Unless you have a lot of spare time and knowledge of color, contrast and brightness settings suggest you simply set intelligent mode and have the TV start with last loaded mode (apple TV in my case). Basically avoid Samsung UI and customization hooks. One gripe is the manner in which the TV feet protrude. A sound bar has to be 6 inches in front of the TV, forcing you to see cable clutter. The older 65" feet were space sufficient apart so that the sound bar was nicely tucked below the TV and no cables to see. Connected TV eARC to soundbar ARC, The sound bar was recognized but no sound.May need a new HDMI 2.1 cable But in light of the aforementioned cable clutter issue, doing Bluetooth audio. Which is stable and better than the built-in TV speakers. Based on what others say, it appears to be a QD-OLED panel. I got the GS 5-year warrany (May 23 version) - where section 5.1.a.vi explicitly covers Screen Burn in. At $1800, there isn't better value than a 77" OLED TV.

Best value QD-OLED 2023/24
|Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv is fantastic. Coming from an LG C2, there is a night and day difference when it comes to color and brightness. For those who are unaware, if you are in North America, this is 100% a QD-OLED screen. This tv is also capable of outputting 144hz when connected to a PC, although the specs list it as 120hz. Something else to mention is that it includes a filmmaker mode as well, even though samsung themselves state it does not. The only discernable difference between this TV and the s90c is that the stand is slightly different. Thats it. This is 1000% a second gen qd-oled panel. A benefit of this TV over the s95c even, is that it does not have the one connect box, which is limited to 40gbps, making this tv better for PC use. If you dont mind voiding your warranty, you can access the TV service menu and turn the panel into what is effectively, an s95c (higher brightness) but without the one connect box.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd OLED TV I've owned so I have something to compare it with. Overall this TV is great at certain things. Very smooth tv and outstanding picture quality at this price point. Only thing I'd say is on the downside is upscaling. My LG OLED is much better at upscaling tv quality (720p). This TV is great at HDR movies. This is where this tv shines the most.

Highly recommended, for the right price.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited a while to give the tv a solid chance before writing this review and Im very happy with it overall. The picture quality is everything you would expect from a QD Oled display, I enjoy the rechargeable remote that charges via USB-C or the small solar panel on the back rather than needing batteries and the software is very responsive when the tv has been properly powered down, we'll get to that. There are a couple of negatives though, starting with the sound. Mind you, the sound quality is conventionally good but the downward firing speakers do leave something to be desired so I would recommend a soundbar, which is pretty upsetting at this price range. The 2nd issue is the software within the tv for 2 different reasons, lagging and bluetooth connection. When the tv has not been powered down completely it will eventually start to lag which can be fixed with a cold boot by holding the power button on the remote until the tv power cycles itself. The issue is that simply turning off the power doesnt turn the tv off, it merely puts it into a sleep mode which means the tv runs constantly. I fixed this issue by plugging the tv into a smart plug that I can simply cut the power from my phone and Ive had no issues since. The next issue is bluetooth and its inability to stay connected to my soundbar. I have connected 2 soundbars to this tv and both times the soundbar would work for a few days to a week and then I would get no sound despite them still being connected. The simple fix was to plug in the soundbar directly to the tv with an hdmi cable I had laying around, no issues since and the tv remote still controls the soundbar volume whether on bluetooth or wired connection. My final concern is the remote, mostly its longevity, as it has a rechargeable battery it will eventually die and need to be replaced. Not a huge concern but still something to be aware of. Overall, I would give this tv a 7/10 and highly recommend it if you can find it on sale. It seems this model is only continuing to get cheaper so I say go for it.

Best high end TV deal by far!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, this is definitely a QD-OLED (and likely a 2nd generation panel as they didn’t make a first generation 77” QD-OLED). I can tell it’s a QD-OLED cause it is blindingly bright and vibrant compared to my LG CX OLED. Like with most WOLED’s you spend hours checking all the settings to make sure you are getting the brightest picture possible, and you still wish it was a touch brighter… with the S89C you will undoubtedly have to turn down the brightness at night in a darker room at least if you value your vision. It’s that bright! Also the Holiday deal of $1,999 (which is $500 cheaper than the S90C with no meaningful difference that I can tell), $1,500 cheaper than the S95C, and $3,000 cheaper than the Sony A95L (which all use the exact same panel!) this is by far the best high end TV bargain of the year. Picture quality is amazing. The only negatives is sometimes the colors are oversaturated (which you can fix with calibration) and the Tizen operating system is a little cluttery until you get used to it. Get this if you want the latest high end picture technology while saving a ton versus other options.

Very expensive mistake.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality was good but nothing to write home about. HDR content was very bright. After less than 2 years I had a large half circle shaped area at the bottom of the screen burn out. It flashed so hot it blistered the outside of the panel. I suppose these things randomly happen sometimes and if I hadn't had a Geek Squad Protection plan I'm sure I would be muchore upset about it. Replaced with an LG C5 and couldn't be happier

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has an amazing picture. It has depth as if it was almost 3D. Several viewing-picture modes to chose from. The simple remote takes a bit of time to get used to. I wish it would have come with at least a quick set-up guide, but in this day of reduced paper, I get it. Sound is great for a TV, but I use an external system. This is almost the same as the Samsung S90C. Price was great.

QD OLED, there's nothing better!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic TV for the money. The Sony a95l is the best you can get but that 5% better picture quality isn't worth the extra money over this TV. The s89c is the qd OLED panel as the s90c by the way and it's cheaper. I have 2 LG OLED TV's and the s89c is better and brighter. Qd OLED is the way to go. Also, LG for example has a problem with dead pixels especially on their 77 and 83 inch models. I have NO dead pixels or dead sub pixels on this TV. I don't know if I just got lucky or if qd OLED is better for that as well. Samsung bit having Dolby vision is not a deal breaker either, nobody can even do Dolby vision right anyways and besides most HDR content out there is just HDR 10 anyways. If you're TV shopping get this TV if it's available. Nothing beats a QD OLED TV.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a Mini LED before this, but due to a pixel issue decided to return and spend a bit more for this. Definitely not disappointed that i did! Out of the box the picture was solid, but even more so after a bit of calibration (check YouTube, check Reddit). It is confirmed as QD OLED so disregard what the description says. This is pretty much the exact same TV as the more expensive S90C. You cannot lose here for the price! Bright picture with excellent contrast! Motion is great in comparison the Mini LED as there is no blooming or crushing blacks. It is virtually lag free for gaming. Positive after positive. The inly downside is the Tizen OS is a bit more disorganized than I'd like, but the apps are indeed powerful enough to run quickly with no issues. I still went with a streaming device as that's just what om used to, but there really is no need. I also get that it doesnt do Dolby Vision, but it didnt really wow me on the Mini LED all that much anyway. The picture in HDR10 and 10+ is still absolutely stunning regardless. Im sure you have read a lot of reviews saying just buy it before getting to mine....so what are you waiting for?

Amazing TV but not identical to SC90C
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV for a good price. I picked this up bc reviewers claimed this was identical to the S90C OLED but $600 less. The TV does look amazing compared to my Q70, like night and day difference from a QLED. It's really unbelievable how crystal clear the picture is. A couple things that I should point out: 1) the TV is super thin and flimsy. Me being an idiot, we removed the TV before reading the manual and placed it face down on a sheet. DO NOT do this with this TV. Holding the edge and tilting it down may bend the corners, etc bc of how thin it is. The corners, especially, cannot hold the weight of the TV. The manual specifically says to assemble everything while in the box. Thankfully, the TV was fine w/o any damages. 2) the legs and wall mounting holes are different than the S90C. I was ready with my wall mount but couldn't find the rear screw holes. I ended up buying a TV stand and just using the legs which worked out better, IMO. I did discover there are 2 rear screw holes but they're lower on the TV. Just something to keep in mind if that's your plan. Other than that, the TV is amazing.
