This TV was great in the beginning. Fast forward 1 year later and I have two HDMI ports that no longer work. Samsung has denied the claim to replace the One Connect unit since I am just outside of 12 months since purchased. NOTE: I have TWO of these TV's and both have the same issue!! Therefore I now have 15k in TV's with only 2 of the 4 HDMI ports working on each TV. I find this disappointing to say the least.

Bought this TV open box so I got a fairly good deal. Unfortunately I think it has software issues and does not always have a very smooth picture. The q80 and Q90 displays at the store seem to look better for far less money. By the time I realized the TV had issues my 15 days for return was up. Very disappointing for Samsung.

I bought this less than 2 years ago, and not it stopped working. Not sure how. Called tech, estimated repair cost was close to $3000. Unfortunately, it was out of warranty. From now on, will buy extended warranty. I had Sony before that lasted more than 8 years without any issues.

One of the most advanced TVs on the market, but...

Got this TV a few weeks ago. I have used it to play cable TV, Blurays, 4K sources and even a handful of 8K videos from youtube. This TV almost has it all. It's very large (82") but with slim bezels and a narrow profile doesn't feel overwhelmingly so, it has all the functionality you can expect from a modern TV, it sounds good, and, more importantly, the picture quality most times is extremely impressive. I had doubts about the benefits of 8K and they're definitely subtle, but they're there if you look for them, and make everything look as sharp as possible. However this leads to my one big issue about this TV (at least the model I bought): the contrast is very hit or miss. On bright shots or even dark but contrasty shots, the blacks will be very good and the contrast very high, delivering a picture with a lot of impact. But when dealing with low contrast shots, or shots that are not that well lit, the backlight of the TV struggles a lot to display the appropriate black levels, outputting either extremely washed out blacks or images that are so darkened you can barely see what's going on on screen. It almost feels like the (very powerful) brains of the TV have trouble deciding how to treat those kinds of images and get confused from one shot to the next. It's distracting and what's more, it affects the colors too. While they're usually very good and punchy, again on certain shots the TV looses all saturation and looks washed out. The fact that for most content this TV performs so well makes these problematic moments all the more frustrating. The TV's One Connect Box, which is the size of a small computer, clearly has power to spare, so it's weird how some simple movie scenes can make the solid blacks and beautiful colors break down so easily. Again, it's possible that just my specific sample has this issue, and i might be reaching out to Samsung to see if there's something wrong with it. If this is the case i will update this review. It's just that as of now, given the high price of this set I cannot give it a higher score, since flagships models such as this shouldn't have such important issues, especially a few months after release and a few firmware updates later. Hopefully this is just my unit, or maybe Samsung will fix this by firmware. If that happens this will be the best, most complete TV to own this year.

      tdx4,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the 82" Q900. I am very sorry to see that you were not happy with the picture performance in low contrast scenes.

Is your Q900 updated with the latest firmware Version 1065.0?
If not, please run a quick update for optimal performance by following these instructions:
Go to Settings > Support> Software Update> Update Now
Note that updating from the Internet requires an active Internet connection.

Or you can opt to update the firmware via a USB device.
To update using a USB device, download the update package from Samsung.com to your computer. Please go to this link: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/2018-qled-8k-tv-q900rb-series
Click “DOWNLOAD” next to “Firmware APR 29,2019, ver 1065.0”
After downloading the update file from the Samsung website and storing it on a USB device, connect the USB device to the TV to update.
Please make sure that you save the update package in the USB device's top-level folder so that the TV can locate it.

I have also included a link to the eManual, where you can find advanced picture setting configuration on page 97:

The TV is once again so fun to watch. The service from BEST Buy was excellent. The guys from Best buy delivered new TV and moved our old 62" curved Samsung TV to bed room and installed the new 8k - 82 inchTV in living room. Over all, the whole transaction of buying from Best Buy to installing, connecting to sound system, adjusting TV for best picture were all smooth. We are glad we bought 8K QLED. Of course, the source of the program should be telecasting in 8K to fully appreciate the vivid picture and the detail view of 8k.

Future proof sales pitch were a lie

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this TV around late 2019 to early 2020. Before I purchased this, the Samsung sales rep and the Best Buy sales rep mentioned that the TV was meant to be future proof because of the One Connect Box feature. The truth is far from the reality. Barely any key updates were given to this expensive product. Since it is an 8K capable TV, this should have the HDMI 2.1 standard. If they followed the standard correctly and not mess it up, there should be more than enough bandwidth for eARC to work. During that time, I wanted to purchase the Q80R sound bar but there was no promise of eARC updates for it. So I had swapped to a Sony receiver that had eARC. I approached both Best Buy sales rep and the Samsung Sales rep about the implementation of eARC. They said that it will be implemented. Just like the European region, eARC was promised to be delivered. 2021 is almost over and no mention of eARC at all. In fact, this TV has not received any proper firmware updates for a long time. I am getting flickering issues with my PS5 when I try to play on this TV. For those interested about the eARC issue, I oblige you google will show you how bad their support is for this TV. Samsung themselves are even going out of their way to delete threads from their community forums that pertain to eARC. It's sad that it has come to this. The TV was nice overall. Not having proper eARC support killed it. It's an important feature when gaming on these TVs or even watching movies. eARC is needed in order to be able to pass uncompressed multi-channel audio to your receivers. If you only have ARC, you can only send multi-channel through compressed formats like Dolby Digital+. Not everything has that. If this is on sale, DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD HOME THEATER SETUP. If they do still sell this for some reason, they're selling you an End of Life product.

Very disappointed in this TV and Magnolia

I purchased this TV for $6,999 over a month ago. It has not worked properly since day one. The installer blamed it on that the TV must be updating itself so give it time. Some video on the screen is blurry, still images are blurry and the sound/sync is WAY off. Sonos blames Samsung, Magnolia blames Sonos. Geeksquad was useless in their troubleshooting. Now I have a massive 82 inch screen installed in my media room and I am waiting on Magnolia to take it down and return it. Very disappointing as I have 5 other Samsung TVs in my home and have never had an issue. Waste of time and alot of money.
