No Dolby Atmos from TV (Q70A) to Soundbar (Q700A)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to connect my Apple TV 4K directly to the soundbar in order to get the Dolby Atmos sound and get the confirmation on the soundbar display. Played movies with Atmos Dolby sound using HBOMax app on the TV but no Dolby Atmos confirmation on the soundbar display. You either get Q-Symphony or Dolby Atmos mode at one at a time but not both at the same time. With Dolby Atmos playing from my Apple TV 4K (connected directly on the soundbar), the Q-Symphony option is not available on the TV. At this time, I'm not sure which is better between Samsung Q-Symphony or Dolby Atmos.

Thank you for your review of Samsung's Q70A TV. We appreciate your feedback regarding your audio experience when pairing your TV to your Q700A Soundbar. Your Apple TV 4K device and Q700A will both need to be connected directly to your TV’s HDMI inputs to allow Q-Symphony to simultaneously work with Dolby Atmos content. Make sure your soundbar is connected to “HDMI In 3”, as this port supports eARC. The ports are labeled on the back of the TV.
Once your devices are directly connected to your TV, there are a few settings you will need to adjust:
- CEC must be turned on for eARC to work.
- Select Dolby Digital from the Digital Output Audio Format menu. Now the connected soundbar should automatically activate Dolby Atmos whenever it detects Dolby-compatible media coming from the TV.
- Set the TV to allow Dolby Digital+ with Atmos streams that are input from external devices. Set to ON if the audio device connected via HDMI (eARC) supports Dolby Atmos. eARC will allow uncompressed Atmos. As long as your external device supports Atmos, you can pass-through Atmos via eARC without issue.
We also recommend replacing your HDMI cables with High-Speed cables with Ethernet Channel, labeled as HEC or HEAC on the cable.
After adjusting your TV’s settings and the HDMI source is set, “TV+Soundbar” will appear under the Sound Output menu of the TV. Select the corresponding option. Now Q-Symphony will activate, and you’ll hear amazing surround sound.
