We mounted it the first time, super quick and easy with a lot of care and when we put on a dark movie or show, you can see that the black is a grey mix due to the light. We called immediately to let them know and asking us multiple questions, (note that the customer service calls aren’t the same reps in store and they are outsourced to another third party, you can imagine the frustration with this process.) They rescheduled a crew to come out with a new TV and had their mounting service. The crew this time mounted the TV and told us to wait an hour to allow the TV to power up before going through the steps. They couldn’t stay so we waited an hour and did the steps, yet this TV also has a backlighting issue. Not sure what we can do here but not worth the price to get a “high quality QLED” TV that doesn’t work properly. I’m writing this review for awareness because we couldn’t find anyone else who had any of these comments to figure out what the issue was here.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Q80A TV and for sharing details of your image quality. To optimize your picture quality, please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1805.4 which includes picture quality updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
In addition to the several picture modes on your TV, you may also want to try adjusting additional picture settings if the picture you are seeing is not to your liking.
You can go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings and configure the TV settings to your taste with functions such as Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Color, Tint (G/R), Picture Clarity Settings, Local Dimming, Contrast Enhancer, and many more.

Both have very large issues with the backlighting and light leaks. So bad that it was distracting to watch. On busy bright scenes it was ok but as soon as a dark scene was in it failed to deliver. I would recommend you spend the hard earned money on a different unit.

Quit working second day. Just went black. Second 85” Samsung was an upgrade to Q80. Defective screen made all sunny days look like dreary, cloudy, rainy days.

Second one because I thought it was faulty. There is a big white glare constantly in dark scenes at the top of the scene. Hard to focus on movies. Don’t recommend this tv at all

Bought this while my wife and I were on our honeymoon and had noticed prior to leaving our current TV had a cluster of white pixels on the top left of the screen. It was hard to watch anything without that being in the center of someone’s forehead or looking like you had the sun reflecting on the tv. So fast forward, we’ve now had this tv for almost a year and it’s been amazing. It’s fantastic for movies and tv shows, not to mention my series x looks beautiful on it as well.

TV works great, Stay connected to the internet. Only complaint, the apps sometimes stop working. Need to unplug and plug tv in again or reinstall app to get them workinhg properly.
