My Dell laptop was so slow, I thought I'd have to replace it entirely. However, the good gents on the Geek Squad were able to copy my old info and install this SSD hard drive and it works better now than when it was brand new! I also recommend the upgrade to Best Buy Total annual subscription to cover most of you repair costs for tech support.

If you need a SATA SSD, you can not go wrong with Samsung. Of all the brands that I have installed over the years, the performance and reliability is best on Samsungs. Samsung even offers a free download migration program that will clone your current computer to a samsung SSD. Very easy to do and the boost in performance is unreal.

I've purchased two 860 EVO drives for different computers and have been very happy. The 870 EVO is even faster. Using the Samsung Data Migration tool is very easy - It took a couple of hours to clone my old HDD, swap the drives, and I was up and running. Make sure to install the Samsung Magician software and turn on the optimizations for best performance. This is an amazing drive at a very competitive price.

I don't know about longevity, but, here's what I observed after swapping in the 1TB version of this SSD to replace a 500GB WD mechanical drive on a Lenovo ThinkPad W530. The WD only had 228GB on it. The SSD read/write performance increased by 50%; start up increased by 3000%. What took 5 minutes to fully complete when using the mechanical drive now takes 20 seconds (from Win10/64 boot to all apps loaded). This performance gain ended my debate as to whether or not I should replace the W530 ThinkPad with a newer model. No need to now. For only $100, the 870 EVO 1TB SSD has proven to be among one of the better upgrades I've made to any PC in recent memory. If you have a laptop that is using a spinning HD, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that you swap it out for one of these. It's truly a performance upgrade that is immediately noticeable. Every app will snap and run faster than what you are used to. I didn't know what to expect but now that I've done it, I have to say that I am quite impressed. BTW, the Samsung migration software I used to copy the entire contents and OS from the spinning drive to the SSD worked without a hitch and in less than 15 minutes. Just be certain to run CHKDSK, disable your antivirus, and place your wireless on "Airplane mode" before the migration.

Bought this to replace a 1TB hard drive and the speed difference was amazing, I hadn’t realized until now the benefits of an SSD.

I use it for my virtual machines for coding and cybersecurity practice. It works perfectly and has a lot of space if I needed to move things from another drive. Just make sure you name the drive and partition it if you need to.

Used the Samsung disk imaging software with excellent results. Installed as an upgrade in an old HP PC. From start to finish, about 1 hour. After powering up for the first time, everything worked perfectly.

Another great Samsung SSD. This unit is a great price to performance and reliability offering. It pretty much maxes out a SATA III link on reads and writes nearly as well, so I couldn't ask for more.

I love the Samsung SSD drives. This drive will serve as a clone system backup. If my main boot NVME drive, also Samsung, should get attacked by some virus or fails (extremely unlikely), then all I have to do is install this clone drive, change the boot order in bios and get right back into the game. I just have to insure that my boot drive is cloned to this regularly.
