Even after multiple attempts. Trying to use this as a replacement for a mechanical drive will likely be problematic as I have yet to be able to complete a data tranfer using this device.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Samsung 870 EVO SSD. Your 1TB drive was engineered to deliver speeds of up to 560MB/s Seq. Read and 530MB/s Seq. Write. I'm sorry that your experience fell short of expectations.
If you haven't done so already, you may want to use Samsung Magician to run Performance Optimization, ensure that your motherboard supports SATA III interface, check that all performance related settings are set correctly (cached enabled, AHCI enabled), and be sure you have the latest version of the driver.
As there are various factors that could affect speed, I would encourage you to call Samsung Customer Support to assist and troubleshoot your issue.

If doing same, don’t used Apple Disk Utility, use Apple Migration Assistant instead. Disk Utility fails with a “Failed to Invert Volume-Code 22”. Not the EVO’s fault. Drive is fast and reliable.
