Upgraded my 5 yr old HP laptop with a 1tb sata spin drive to this ssd drive. I bought a Sabrent usb 3 to sata housing to connect the evo drive to the laptop via usb so I could clone the existing drive to the new evo. Super simple and fast using Samsung’s software. Swapped drives after cloning and it booted right up. Went from a minimum of 5 minutes to boot and open web browser to under 30 seconds. Everything runs so fast now! Highly recommend going to a ssd for old computers.

It's fast and reliable. Boot up time is very quick. The transfer process from old drive to this one was also very simple with no OS login issues. Needed the additional space so that gaming files could be kept on the main drive containing the OS. Sloppy programming on some games prohibited installing then on alternate drive locations.

Great purchase. Very easy to install as long as you have a data transfer cable - which I also purchased from Best Buy. Desktop now boots up in less than 5 seconds and all activities on the desktop are very fast. Inexpensive investment to improve the performance of your PC.

This drive is fast and the install was really easy. Transferring my OS over to this drive using Samsung tools was also a breeze and worked perfectly. I am very happy with the performance and have not had any issues so far. I recommend this drive to anyone who is looking to increase space and performance.

I know we are comparing Lamborghinis to Ferraris and Porches here, but Samsung is still the GOAT of SSDs. Upgraded my computer with some EVO870s, pulled my old 850s and used them in a case for spares. I found them so useful I bought a couple more 1TB 870s and two more cases for cloning my OS and backing up files. It's more expensive than a portable HDD, but if you're tossing it in your briefcase, it's immune to the abuse that would destroy a portable HDD, and it's faster and higher capacity than a thumb-drive. Highly recommend for upgrades and portable storage.

I have been slowly changing older SSD to all Samsung SSD. This one is replacing a failed 500GB Crucial. The one issue with SSD I guess there is no warning. The crash was about at 5 years on 75% max filled drive and my first SSD that created pain. The Crucial would not repair so I did not clone as I usually do. Not having a cloned drive caused much pain. One just does not realized all the little apps that get accumulated even on a PC. I hope this Samsung gives some notice when it decides to fail but I am trying to stay under 50% to hopefully prolong life. I give it 5 starts not because anything special about this particular one but that my 2 other 870 EVO all seem to be doing well and 1 getting close to 5 year mark. Final note: Best Buy did do a price match with Amazon and there was a significant difference at the time which was a surprise. Usually they are pretty close, with Best Buy winning due to instant gratification. The match was an easier process than I expected.

I use this drive to replace a bad drive in my wife's laptop computer I choose this drive becase of the name Needed a reliable drive It was recognized right away All screw holes lined up And the speed was incredible Was able to reinstall the os and backed up data in no time

Works great and as expected. Currently using this SDD to dualboot Linux along with windows with no issyes. Good value for the disk space and speed of the drive. Easy to install and format.

Great drive! Easy migration from old drive to new. VERY fast - really breathed new life into an over four year old laptop. And you cannot beat the specs regarding the reliability. Looking at buying at least one other for another laptop we have. And Best Buy's price was the same as that big online retailer so I bought it at Best Buy! And the BB online experience was excellent with same day pickup. Definitely 5 stars!!!

So much better than a hdd and faster. Don't know why I didn't upgrade earlier. Makes a huge difference in laptops using Sata. It is always important to upgrade the storage inorder to save and transfer files quickly even when your cpu/gpu is an older version. I had installed windows 10 and it runs smoothly..If I knew this before I probably wouldn't have bought a new laptop. I am glad I bought this product. I have more storage space to play with and applications run so smoothly. And to think I thought my computer was having an attitude problem. I guess it was my fault the whole time. You will need to know how to run the bios to get things started ..just a heads up. My pc has cooler temperature and less fan usage now. That's a plus!

The speed and reliability of this drive is excellent, for the price. I had purchased this 1tb drive to be my new OS drive, as my old one was beginning to show early signs of failure. After making a Windows 11 boot/install thumb drive, I installed the new Samsung 1tb SSD, got the install finished and registered my OS. Everything wwnt smoothly and is running better. Excellent drive, easy to use, very reliable and efficient.

At first, I was hesitant to purchase it because I didn't know if it had enough storage or if it was faster than my HDD. I can say without a doubt this definitely changed the way my build boosts and runs programs 10/10

Purchased for my desktop as I was running low on storage. Very fast and reliable, and will fit all standard sized drive bays. Uses the standard SATA cable and power connector. There are faster SSDs than this one, but for the price, this will fit the bill for most people. Prices for SSDs have dropped quite a bit while the storage amount has greatly increased.

Samsung is the best SSD for any device where reliability and speed are needed. You get what you pay for....

This is amazingly quiet compared to my older hard drive. It is a smaller laptop size but did fit into the space where the full size original hard drive was located. Screws didn't line up, so I used zip ties. I am very pleased with the speed and easy installation.

The unit is fast, quiet and holds a lot of data. It is new hard drive what else can you say. It works like any other hard drive.
