Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Dell XPS 8900 where I wanted to replace my external USB 2.0 and 3.0 hard drives that were unreliable/failing with a component that would not have an external power supply or moving parts. After doing some research, I found the Samsung 970 EVO Plus had high reviews and seemed to have come down in price to what is going in the market for this type of storage. The installation was fast, the hard drive copied over (internal, not the aforementioned external USBs), and I was back-up-and-going. The wiz-bang-wow speed difference and blow-my-mind performance match to some other users I had researched didn't happen, but that may be due to my motherboard being five years old. I have ordered a PCIe 3.0 add-in card for around $20 to see if the PCI bus significantly improves the performance benchmarks as opposed to the M.2 slot directly integrated on the motherboard. If it doesn't, then I'll end up with two of these where I can perform backup from one to the other instead of relying on the external USB drives that seem to malfunction after a few years and leave me angry that I trusted them to be the long-term bet since they were mostly infrequently-used storage.

A fantastic SSD option

It also lets games update much faster than the hard drive they were housed on before!
