Standard boot drive for servers

I had never has to replace one yet. I use the 1TB version for my personal workstations boot drives and the 2TB version for data storage.

My computer is just shy of being able to utilize Gen 4 NVMe, so this Gen 3 one gets the job done. These have been very reliable for me, however I’d recommend getting a heatsink if your motherboard doesn’t have one, these drives tend to run hot.

For me there was never going to be an option other than the Samsung 970 Evo. These things are quick and reliable. Plus I'd seen the benefits of having installed these into two desktop systems over the past year. The price to performance is definitely worth it. I'll mention here as I always do, make sure your system has an NVMe M.2 slot. It will work flawlessly in a SATA M.2, but at SATA speeds, which negates the reason you'd pay the slight premium for this drive.
