The best for the money
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loving my hard drive, gets about 95 percent of the advertised specs for read and rewrite capabilities. Installs easy enough. Def is easier with a external hard rice rather than usb. I’d reccomend another Samsung drive to use Samsung data migration.

All of These are great.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own several of these NVMe drives and they are fabulous. Speed is amazing and now that the price has gone down so much it's even better. the only con of these Samsung NVMe drives is they get hot. Plan on putting them in a Motherboard with a good heat sink.

Posted .Matt:
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVME M.2 SSD. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing heat issues with your SSD.
The operating temperatures for this SSD range from 0°C - 70°C. Samsung NVMe SSDs rarely require a heat sink, yet maintain optimal performance thanks to Samsung’s advanced design and manufacturing capabilities coupled with an integrated, heat dissipating thermal label. In rare instances of extreme workloads (transfer of several hundreds of GB), performance may be throttled through Samsung’s dynamic thermal throttling algorithm to protect the SSDs integrity.
Please be aware, however, that an external heat source such as a high-powered graphics card, or CPU placed in close proximity to a Samsung NVMe SSD, can adversely affect airflow around a Samsung NVMe SSD which may lead to performance degradation. Therefore, please ensure there is appropriate airflow around your Samsung NVMe SSD.
To better address your heat concerns, please contact Samsung Customer Support and a representative will gladly help you.

Works well with Alienware 17 r3
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well with Alienware 17 r3. I replaced my old primary m2 ssd with it (128gb to 500gb upgrade). And I used a HDD cloning software to migrate the data. note to self: it didn't include screw so I had to fully remove the old drive even though the laptop has 2 m2 slots.

Zippy Storage
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This m.2 storage is zippy quick! I am familiar with SSD already, but not in this capacity. I picked this up because I had a slot for it on my motherboard and I needed the extra storage. Easy to install. Does what I needed it for. Thanks!

Excellent SSD drive
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to use the 970 Evo Plus in the desktop I had assembled 5 years ago. The 2015 ASUS A88X-Pro motherboard is first rate, but does not have a slot for this kind of SSD drive. So I first had to install the drive in an RIITOP NVMe PCIe Adapter M.2 M Key SSD to PCI Express 16x Converter Card with Heatsink. The ASUS, however, did not detect the Evo Plus, but Windows OS instantly did. I updated the bios from the ASUS website, but the new bios also did not recognize the EVO. In the meantime I continue to use the EVO for saving data files. It is incredibly fast writing and retrieving files of any size. Excellent. ASUS is a great company. I have their excellent laptops. And I hope that when ASUS engineers eventually find the time to update the bios for ASUS A88X-Pro I might be able to use the SSD as the main drive in my desktop.

Wow - not just benchmark good, but really GOOD!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All I can say is wow! I returned an ADATA XPG SX8200 PRO 500GB for this one and am so glad I did. All PCIE NVME drives are not created equal and benchmark's don't mean anything because they are synthetic and the drives are built to show the "best" performance on the benchmarks, which can be a far cry from how they actually perform. First the XPG SX8200 Pro website only gives you the best specs from the 1TB drive and it's nearly impossible to find the slower performance information of the 512GB and 256GB drive on their website (should be a big hint to performance since they don't easily publish it, or list the smaller drive specs on the main page). Second, the bench marks were pretty close on cyrstal diskmark, but when I was actually testing 9GB file copies to and from the XPG, it was often below 600MB/s (even as low as 150MB/s steadily). It did perform better at times, but it was so spotty and nowhere near the benchmarks on a regular basis, I either got a dud or it's just not as good as the specs are in real world performance. Yeah, it was about $30 cheaper than the the new Samsung EVO PLUS 970, but in the end, the price difference was waaaaay overshadowed by the real world performance. So, when I got the 500GB Samsung EVO PLUS 970, I popped it in the same slot that the ADATA was just in and not only did it surpass the specs of the CrystalDisk Mark bench, but the real world file copies (using the same file as before), were steadily around 2000MB/s. Not as fast as the benchmark, but leaps and bounds better than the ADATA and the other PCIE NVME drives I've had the ability to test with. Also, those speeds stayed constant for the entire file copy, where most other drives fluctuate up and down. I know that even larger file copies will eventually slow down when the cache runs out, but that's the same for all PCIe NVME drives that are using TLC (or anything other than MLC flash). And, Samsung is upfront with not just the benchmark read/write performance of the drives when using TurboBoost with the cache, but also the performance speeds you can expect when the cache runs out. No other manufacturer is showing that and that shows Samsung's confidence int their drives. This drive blew me away, so much, I just ordered another one. I honestly don't think other "similar" drives are even in the ballpark on performance (The WD N750 might be the closest, but it's still not on the level of this drive in REAL-WORLD performance for file copies). If you're considering saving a few bucks on a cheaper PCIe NVME drive, I'd highly suggest you do your own large file copies and see if your "cheaper" drive really handles how it says it will based off of the superficial benchmark tests. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment and just get the Samsung EVO PLUS to begin with and you'll be happy that you did.

Crazy fast SSD
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is amazing and crazy fast. I'm running an I7-9700k and RTX 2070 S, 32 Gb ram, and with windows installed on this thing, it boots up in about 5-10 seconds. Games load up extremely fast as well. I'll probably be buying another with more storage in the future.

Put the pedal to the metal without buying an apple
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 500 GB NMVEM . too is the best in that to solid-state drive in existence. Well maybe not in existence because there are things like Sabor rent and stuff like that. But it gets the job done it makes games play fast it’s Apple secret behind how fast everything moves in our reliable everything is on a Mac. M.2 were hard drives that’s been apples secret from the beginning of the MacBook Pro. And now that we got him at all Windows machines all of our games are better all of our operating system runs smoother and you know what that’s all because of these hard drives I mean a whopping 3000 MB per second benchmark for write speed and a 2800 read!!!

Amazing Performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I put this in an Aorus Master Z390 motherboard and have been absolutely amazed by its performance. I use it as my boot drive and windows loads in about 3 seconds, if that. Will more than likely put another one in my MB at a later date when the 1TB prices come down a bit.
