||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a dedicated gamer, I'm always searching for ways to enhance my gaming experience, and the Samsung 980 PRO 2TB Internal Gaming SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe has truly elevated my setup to the next level. First and foremost, the speed of this SSD is absolutely phenomenal. With PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe technology, loading times have been slashed to a fraction of what they once were. Games that used to take ages to load now boot up in seconds, allowing me to jump straight into the action without any unnecessary delays. Whether I'm exploring vast open worlds or engaging in fast-paced multiplayer matches, the 980 PRO ensures that I'm never left waiting around for my games to load. The 2TB capacity of this SSD is also a game-changer. With ample storage space, I no longer have to agonize over which games to uninstall to make room for new ones. I can keep my entire library installed and ready to play at a moment's notice, without having to worry about running out of space. Another standout feature of the 980 PRO is its reliability. Samsung is known for producing high-quality hardware, and this SSD is no exception. It's built to withstand the rigors of gaming, with advanced thermal management technology keeping temperatures in check even during extended gaming sessions. Plus, with Samsung's robust data protection features, I can trust that my game saves and progress are always safe and secure. In terms of design, the 980 PRO ticks all the boxes. Its sleek and compact form factor makes it easy to install in any gaming rig, and its understated aesthetics complement the look of my setup perfectly. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my decision to upgrade to the Samsung 980 PRO 2TB Internal Gaming SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe. Its lightning-fast speed, generous storage capacity, and rock-solid reliability have transformed my gaming experience for the better. If you're a gamer looking to take your setup to the next level, I highly recommend giving the 980 PRO a try. You won't be disappointed!

Must Have for Gamers
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Speed and size! If you're reading this, then clearly you're interested in this 2TB NVMe drive. For gaming, 2TBs in my experience, is the minimum you need if you intend to save more than 10 games with room for updates. And the speed on this seems quick enough. I haven't performed any benchmark tests so I can't say much more. I've had no heat issues either. Great price too!

Excellent, speedy, stylish!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I got this drive for $210 and it was a steal at that price for a drive like this. Fast, easy to install, and the design is even good to look at. I moved almost 400GB of games in less than five minutes. You get pretty much the full 2TB of storage too and the included heatsink is absolutely necessary for PS5. Definitely a must buy especially on sale.

Top Tier NVME Drive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for an ultra fast and durable NVME drive, this is the one to get. Get the capacity that fits in your budget, but if you can I highly recommend springing for the 2TB model. I replaced a 500GB PCIe 3.0 drive with the 980 Pro. Utilizing Samsung's data migration, I transferred the old drive to the 980 without a hiccup. With the 980 installed in the PCIe 4.0 slot and the old drive mounted in the PCIe 3.0 slot, I was able to clone the old drive (about 210gbs) in around 22 minutes. This process was completely smooth and error free, the hardest part was remembering where I stashed the mobo hardware so I could install both drives at once. I successfully transferred BF1, BFV, GTA5 from a SATA SSD to the 980 in under 3 minutes each. That's nearly 270GB of data files, in under 10 minutes. Maybe my old NVME boot drive was slow (it was comparatively) but that's insanely quick in my book. You will not be disappointed with this drive. The price is high, but you get what you pay for. Samsung's top tier NAND chips combined with their best in house controller and the 980 Pro is easily the best choice for a consumer NVME boot drive (budget allowed of course). I personally would try and get at a minimum the 1TB model, as with 500GB capacity a few games can put you near capacity, especially if it is your shared boot drive. The benchmarks speak for themselves, with the 980Pro having nearly double the same read/write speeds as the NVME drive it replaced. Hands down, buy this, you will not be disappointed.

The Samsung 980 2TB SSD is fast and reliable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD is fast and reliable. This is my second 980 pro. The first one is the boot drive for my Puget Systems Lightroom Solutions Tower PC, and this one is installed in an OWC Envoy Express external SSD drive enclosure. I manage both with Samsung's Magician SSD software. I followed the Puget System's recommendation to assure that both SSDs have the latest firmware in order to avoid the failure problems encountered with Samsung's 990 Pro SSD.

fast, reliable, easy to install, price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.second year in a row i got the 980 pro essentially $100 off at black friday. great product. and great price at this time of year. product works exceptionally well. have had no failures so far. installed two 2 tb in my pc and a 1tb in my server. replaced 1 year old 1tb in my pc with 2 x 2tb for $120 each. cloning was seamless and took 5-10 minutes to clone .7 tb in data and transferred to the new 2tb without problems. programming, high resolution photo/video editing, design, all work flawlessly. the 990 is somewhat faster but not enough to justify $320 for 4tb. looking forward to the 4 tb 990 pro being on sale next year.

What more could you want
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect for my ps5! Installation was easy and the drive itself works perfectly. Maybe even better than the in-built one. Feels great to keep any game I want on my console and not have to worry about storage anymore. Also, if you’re getting this for your ps5, be sure to get a heat sink. They’re inexpensive, and these things can get HOT.

Easy, Excellent Update.

ASUS REPUBLIC OF GAMERS MOTERBOARD FORMULA X, EVGA 1080TI VIDEO CARD, 32 GB MEMORY, ASUS PREDATOR XB1 MONITOR, INTEL i7 770K CPU 4.20 GHZ. Okay I am replacing my Samsung 960 EVO 1TB SSD with the new Samsung 980 2TB PRO. Very easy downloaded Samsung migration software from Samsung website. Installed the new 980 pro in my second M.2 slot very easy no tools needed. Powered up desktop started migration software very easy point and click on screen guide. The whole hardware and software completion 30 minutes up and running. The 980 pro a little faster startup, big improvement over gaming smoothness and latency highly recommend lots of improvement over my 4 year old Samsung 960 to the 980 pro.

True blazing speed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Samsung - 980 PRO 2TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe Gen4 Internal Gaming SSD M.2 is a replacement for my old WD BLACK 500GB SN750 NVMe SSD. First foremost, The PCIe 4.0 is designed to provide faster data transfer and decrease load time which is very obvious when first installed. My Alienware Aurora R7 was blazing fast with my old WD SSD during boot time, loading games, running software, etc. But, this Samsung is noticeably faster, and my PC boot time has reduced from 12 to 8 seconds, as well as my games load time is at lighting speed and other programs load almost instantly compared to what I had before. Pros: Easy installation with Samsung Magician Software True speed as advertised Big storage. In my case, I jumped from 500GB to 2TB Pros: This SSD drive is costly unless it gets picked up when on sale. Great product!

Great drive for great price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super fast and reliable. Despite issues others have had I have been using for a while without an issue. With the current pricing this is the drive to get. Until PCIE 5 has issues ironed out and doesn't require massive cooling I recommend skipping the 990 pro and sticking with this. Works great for PS5 as well.

The fastest PCIe 4 SSD in the market
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have the hardware capable of supporting PCIe Gen 4, or plan to upgrade to it in the near future, the 980 Pro is one of the best top-performing SSD's available in the market. All that performance doesn't come cheap, but you also get peace of mind from the top-notch quality Samsung is known for. Comparing it to the 970 Evo Plus 2TB I currently have on my laptop benchmark numbers are very similar since my laptop PCEi interface is Gen 3x4. So far Samsung has not released an NVMe driver for the 980 Pro. As of right now, my 970 Evo Plus is running on Samsung NVMe driver and the 980 Pro on Microsoft drivers. There is potential for a bump in performance, whenever Samsung does release a driver for the 980 Pro. FYI If Samsung Magician is having issues recognizing the drive, most likely your system is running on Raid mode and not AHCI mode. Make sure to reach out to the manufacturer of your system for assistance on switching Windows from Raid to AHCI. Do not attempt this process without first consulting the manufacturer since it can end damaging important Windows OS files. Overall The 980 Pro is one of the best performing SSD’s out there, but if you don’t have the PCIe Gen 4 interface to take advantage of it, performance-wise will be very similar to something like a 970 Evo Plus. If you absolutely want the best for your system the 980 Pro is a good start. Now, if you’re not planning to upgrade your hardware anytime soon to support PCIe Gen 4, you might want to save some money by going with a previous generation like the 970 Evo Plus that is still considered one of the fastest PCIe Gen 3 SSD’s out there. “Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews.

Great NVME for a PCLE 3.0 or 4.0 slot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received the 2TB 980 PRO PCLe 4.0 NVMe from Samsung and it’s a beast. I did an upgrade from a 500GB SSD which was still doing me justice but being able to store games on the NVMe and start them, has really cut the load time. The one downside is that my mother board only has a PCLe 3.0 slot, so I am not getting the read/write times that I could get with a PCLe 4.0, but the numbers are still huge. I am averaging 3,300 MB/s read and write times, if I had a PCLe 4.0 it would be getting around 7,000 MB/s on read and write times. Samsung has monitoring program called Magician. Magician monitors drive health, optimize performance, can encrypt the drive, and update your firmware. One of my favorite aspects of the magician software is the heat monitoring that it does. You can run it at full throttle and be able to actively manage the heat buildup. The 980 PRO PCLe 4.0 NVMe will be a great drive for many years to come.

Samsung is great when it comes to SSDs.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speed is amazing and if you are looking for a reliable SSD that will improve your experience this may be a good one. Loading times will be improved and the smoothness of games may be improved if your storage is less of a bottleneck. The magician software is great and I was able to transfer my data over. I also recommend using over-provisioning at least 10 or even 20% to extend the life of the SSD and improve performance. The only problem with this SSD is that Samsung does not provide the firmware for this SSD unlike the 970 which does have Samsung firmware. Microsoft provides the firmware for this one. This probably will not affect performance but this could be a disadvantage.

||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the 2gb version and I have no complaints. Premium M.2 Drive at a good price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was purchased on black friday for between 120 and 130. Very worth the cost, super good value. The 980 pro is definitely a premium, espeically compared to Samsungs SSD lineup, but when on sale it becomes a great addition to a PC. Will be picking up more next black friday. I bought the Samsung 980 PRO 2TB Internal Gaming SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe on Black Friday for between $120 and $130. It is absolutely worth it, and a great value. Of course, the 980 PRO is an especially premium SSD, especially when compared to the other drives in Samsung's lineup, but when on sale it is a great addition to a PC. I plan to buy more on Black Friday next year.
