Gen4 is by far the fastest I have ever tried. I was previously using Samsung 850 Pro and 860 Pro and this new NVME 980 Pro is the current best. If it wasn't for the high price I would have purchased the 1TB version but this is great for OS Boot. I will wait for prices to drop in the future.

Needed to upgrade and increase the storage capacity on my 2018 Dell XPS 8930. Also wanted to do a fresh installation of Windows. This item works great. It seems faster than the original SSD with twice the space. Installation was very easy, as was reinstalling all the software.

Very fast drive. It's a little small to be used as main storage, but works well for the system drive. Would recommend using a 1 or 2 TB drive in conjunction with this.

This PCIE 4.0 NVME driver is running as well as I could expect. I am using this as my OS drive and my PC boots in seconds. Manipulating very large files is hilariously fast.

I had no clue a SSD could be so fast. Recently upgraded to a new build. Paired this with a Ryzen 5 5600X cpu and MSI MPG B550 Gaming plus motherboard. I was able to transfer 85 GB's of files between this and my Samsung EVO SSD in minutes. If I remember correctly it stayed at a constant rate of aroun 360 mbps according to windows 10. Most usb 3.0 flash drives, or any other SSD, HDD I've used tends to get up to 100 mbps max but fluctuates hard eventually getting stuck at some low transfer speed around 30

    980 EVO vs. 960 EVO

I'm currently running this on a Gigabyte Vision D Z490 board, which means it's only running at PCIe 3.0 speeds while on 10th Gen. I'll eventually upgrade to Rocket Lake which will support PCIe 4.0, but in the interim... I cloned my Samsung 960 EVO 250gb drive and moved it to be a game drive, with this 500GB 980 as my primary/boot. The free Samsung Data Migration software cloned the drives without issue. One quick pass with Magician showed the following: 980 EVO 500GB vs. 960 EVO 250GB: Used Space: 95GB / 100GB Written: 578 GB / 14.3 TB Temp: 38C / 34C Read Seq (MB/s): 3584 / 3274 Write Seq (MB/s): 3362 / 1563 IOPS/Random: 344726 / 257324 IOPS/Write: 279052 / 274902 On paper, it's definitely faster and runs a little warmer. I don't necessarily "see" a difference, as my 4yr old 960 EVO was/is fast. I had some gift cards to burn and treated myself to an upgrade while separating my game drive from my primary/boot drive. Would have liked 1TB, but didn't need it in my specific case. If I had a 970 PRO or 970 PLUS, I probably wouldn't have upgraded. As of this post, still no Samsung 980 PRO drivers.

Purchased on Sale, great price, awesome performance. Please note that this is used specifically for Gen4 PCIe supported motherboards. If you are not sure, please check your motherboard specifications. While it will work with a Gen 3 PCIe, you are spending money on a drive that was intended for Gen4 and you will only get speeds rated @ Gen3.

storage is getting CHEAP! I paid 3 times this for my last m.2 and it offered less storage. This new computer boots up fast! Computer recognized the drive right out of the gate with no problems.
