This is a must pickup for PlayStation users! I myself play all the time and these days with games getting bigger (and not better) getting a ssd with more storage is a non negotiable. It’s fast and you can choose what games and data you want to download to the ssd. You just need to open it and screw it in and boom, never need to worry about it again and download all the games u want

Purchased this for my PS5 to store additional games and saved clips. So far so good, runs fast, no need to worry about uninstalling a game to make room. Installation was a breeze following online guides, nice having heatsink already built in.

Super easy to install in PS5. Heat sink included. Fair price. I don’t notice any difference in speed when compared to using the internal PS5 SSD. Both are really fast.

If you are a PS5 owner from day one like myself then you surely have filled your console SSD with games that have taken all your storage. This SSD is one of the best choices for the money. Sony and Samsung have made it simple and painless when it comes to the installation of this unit into the PS5. I suggest getting the SSD with included heatsink as well for peace of mind.The transfer speeds are phenomenal and make downloads a breeze. If your space is low and you dont want to constantly delete and download then this is the SSD for you.

This drive came right around the time I was building my new Gen4 PC. I am using an ASUS Rog Strix Z690 and yes it does support the PCIe Gen 4.0 standard. Installing this drive was as easy as anything since the ASUS Z690 has eliminated the horrible, horrible, horrible m2 screw. After five minutes or so I was booting up for the first time. Installing Windows 11 from my USB onto the 980 was quick and easy. Once I got into Windows 11 I used Crystalmark to bench the drive and it came in right around 6700-6750 write speed, which is just what I was hoping it would. My other drives are Gen 3 and thus all are about twice as slow at about 3000 write speed. Using this now for about a week and wow, its very fast, boot time is pretty non-existent and so far no heating issues whatsoever (which you definitely want to avoid due to throttling means decreased speeds). All in all I am so happy with this drive I will likely buy another, this time a 2Tb one! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Super easy to install and has had zero issues in ober a year or two of use. Performs just as well as, if not better than the stock SSD. Not much else to say, Best Buy rules (shrug-emoji)

Incredibly fast. And i love that it gave me more storage on my PS5. Helpful for those extra games that wont fit with the 825GB SSD storage that the PS5 comes with. I highly recommended it. Easy to intall and comes with a heatsink. When i load games from the SSD, its very fast and up to par with PS5 SSD speeds too.

Perfect for the PS5 to add much needed storage. Easy install and the PS5 recognized it immediately and formatted with no problems. Hopefully being Samsung, it will last a long time with no issues. Much better than an external hard drive even though not as much storage capacity for the $$. Best part is you can store PS5 games on it and play them immediately instead of using an external hard drive where you have to transfer the PS5 game from the external drive to the PS5 to play.

PURCHASE IT. It's alot of space, good price ESPICIALLY now if its still 70, and its realllly easy to apply if you're adding it to a PS5. A baby could do it. Just look up the tutorial. But yea worth every penny. It has some cool features on it's own too.

Great for increasing storage in PS5. Must have a heatsink on the SSD for PS5 install. If buying one without a heatsink already attached then just purchase a heat sink separate and install yourself. Just peel and stick. Easy

I'm no stranger to PC components, installing, etc. been building PCs for almost 30 years. When I first installed the SSD and booted the PS5 it hung on the PS logo screen then eventually went to a black. I booted into safe mode, tried several of the options and ultimately had to choose to reinstall the PS software via USB drive. That fixed it. No big deal but it did happen and I don't know why. Just a tip in case it happens to you. Anyway, onto this drive. I had read that many(all?) people have had to update the firmware to get the proper speed. I'm one of them. It had read around 5500MB/s when first installed. After the firmware update it measured over 6500MB/s. Very acceptable considering it's claimed UP TO 7000MB/s. One IMPORTANT thing about updating the SSD, which by the way you must use a PC to do, you can't use a SSD USB adapter to connect it to the PC. The Samsung software will not give you the option to update unless it's directly interfaced with your PC. Bottom line: you'll most likely need to update the firmware if you purchase this anytime soon, but once it's taken care of it's a great drive, loads just as fast/faster than the SSD in the PS5(which is super fast itself), and has a competitive price.

Got this SSD to increase the internal space on my PS5. NGL, it was crazy easy to install (DIY) and the write speeds are even faster than the original SSD. A must have especially with the heatsink already included. Highly recommend vs. the WD 850 Black and others out there..........

I have a new gaming pc that supports PCIe 4.0 but it unfortunately came equipped with a 3.0 drive. Recognizing the large performance advantage awaiting me I was eager to upgrade to a PCIe 4.0 SSD. I’ve used Samsung SSDs for years so the new Samsung 980 PRO Heatsink seemed like a perfect choice. I was excited to learn that Samsung had a heatsink SSD. SSDs can run very hot at temperatures reaching over 80° C. Overheating negatively impacts drive performance and drive lifespan. Samsung’s heatsink should effectively control these temperatures. Installing an NVMe drive is a breeze and is about as easy as upgrading RAM so don’t be intimidated. I’d say the most difficult aspect is dealing with the miniature post screw that holds the SSD in place. I would suggest purchasing a magnetic NVMe screwdriver which makes dealing with this screw much easier. The hardware install takes minutes. Once installed you need to format this drive in Windows using Disk Management utility. Once formatted I next installed the Samsung Magician program which is a great optimization and monitoring tool for your new drive. My first step was to check for a firmware update within Magician. The update downloaded and installed after a reboot. My next step was to clone my existing SSD to the 980 Pro Heatsink so I could make it my boot drive and realize the full speed advantages of this PCIe 4.0 drive. After cloning I was up and running. First noticeable improvement was a perkier boot speed which is almost instantaneous. Next I wanted to run a few benchmarks on the 980 Pro Heatsink. Using CrystalDiskMark and Samsung Magician I was blown away by read speeds of about 6,800 MB/sec and write speeds of 5,000 MB/sec. Amazing! Twice the speeds of my previous PCIe 3.0 drive. After hours of gaming temps were in the ballpark of 50° C. Make sure to explore the Samsung Magician for an array of settings and info. Highly recommended.

Fantastic quality, and speed! And with a heat-sync? can't lose. These drives are awesome. if you need a small slim drive with no thickness, this might not work for you. check your tolerances!

The Samsung solid-state drive is perfect for the PS five and for any gamers that need additional storage. Having the built-in heat sink makes installation easy and because the speed to access the drive rates hi you will have no problems running games directly from this drive.

While the Samsung 980 Pro is not the fastest Gen4 NVMe Solid State Drive (SSD), it is still an elite performer, leading the pack in random read performance -- where we want it most, though it does lag behind most SSDs in random writes. Perhaps more importantly, this new model comes with a heat sink that is quite effective and beautifully designed and is perfect for PC, and especially a PS5 as it meets Sony's stated requirements and still cools the SSD effectively. For PC applications, the 980 Pro is unique in that Samsung provides software that allows you to me firmware level changes which allows you to change between performance and cooling modes. If there was a 4.5 Star rating, the Samsung 980 Pro solidly rates there, with top marks for quality and features. Performance would rank a solid 4.5, with value the lowest mark of 4. It certainly isn't the cheapest Gen4 SSD around, but then again you often get what you pay for.
