The optimal solution for Sony would have been to incorporate additional storage capacity into the PlayStation 5, thereby eliminating the necessity to delete existing games in order to accommodate new acquisitions.

Did not achieve anywhere near the advertised operating speeds after properly installed in my PS5. Its advertised up to 7450mbs, yet my unit only achieved 6690mbs.

I’ve been using the Samsung 990 PRO 4TB for a few months now and it has been excellent. I installed it on my motherboard to add extra storage, and the large capacity has been really helpful. I use it to record my gameplay through OBS, and it handles everything smoothly with no skips or errors. File transfers are extremely fast, which makes moving large video files quick and easy. I also like that Samsung provides regular updates through the Samsung Magician software to keep the drive running at its best. Overall, this SSD has been very reliable and performs great.

The Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSD w/ Heat Sink is incredibly easy to install while providing abubdent storage at blazing speeds for gaming on my PS5. Arguably, the best SDD for the PS5. For those wondering, I neither have nor will I install any of the competitors' SSDs. Is my review biased? Yes. Regardless, I purchased the Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSD w/ Heat Sink, and it's functioning GREAT! Over the years, I've purchased 5 other Samsung SSDs to replace the conventional HDDs in my desktops and laptops I use at home. NONE of them have failed me! Thus, why would I venture away from what I know works? I highly recommend this 4TB SSD and any of Samsung's SSDs!

Very fast. Plenty of space! Reliable. Currently replacing two other Samsung drives, both NVME: 1tb 970 Evo+ and 980 Pro 2tb. Runs a little cooler than either of those, but they're all good - I just don't need the others right now, Installed on AM4 x570 MSI Ace Max. I bought this model with the heatsink for simplicity's sake, and to see how it compared to using the motherboards heatsinks. More than satisfied with Samsung's drives, Highly recommend this one.
Also have a Gen 5, 2tb 9100 Pro with heatsink in a SFF AM5 machine and this drive is comparable in speed to that, in typical, non-specialized use.

Can anyone confirm if these a screw inside the ssd panel to secure the ssd dive itself? Just both this and saw a review stating that you need a screw, im away from the ps5 currently.
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung 990 PRO SSD. Please know that these drives are not delivered with mounting screws since motherboard manufacturers typically provide the specific screws and spacers that fit the proprietary needs of each motherboard.

I bought the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSD from Best Buy, and it’s been amazing. The installation was super easy, and the performance boost is immediately noticeable. My PC boots up in seconds, and games load incredibly fast—no more waiting around.
The read and write speeds are just as advertised, making it perfect for gaming and productivity tasks. It also runs cool, thanks to the built-in heatsink. Samsung’s reputation for quality shows here.
Overall, I’m really happy with this SSD. If you’re looking to upgrade your system, this is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

Best 4tb ssd that i purchased by far for my Ps5. my games load up a lot quicker then my old one and i can download more from the Ps store as well with the game updates with extra room to spare. Note this ssd comes with its own warranty by the company once you buy it.

I often use up the system storage wuick on gaming consoles but this was do easy to install (first time ever doing anything like this to a console) and it took maybe 3 minutes. Blazing transfer speeds, lots of storage room so I’ll probably be good until the next gen console comes out and i can honestly tell my games load faster and run better as the memory outperforms the standard ps5 memory capabilities. 110% would recommend to any ps5 gamer

As an avid tech enthusiast, I recently upgraded my storage solution with the Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSD, and I must say, it’s nothing short of impressive. Here’s why I’m singing its praises:
The 990 PRO steps up to the arena with more than 55% improvement in random performance compared to its predecessor, the 980 PRO. With read and write speeds reaching up to 7450/6900 MB/s, this SSD delivers near-maximum performance, whether you’re gaming, editing videos, or handling large datasets.
The 4TB variant of the 990 PRO has got you covered. Say goodbye to juggling files and applications across multiple drives. Whether you’re a content creator or a data hoarder (like me), this SSD provides ample room for all your digital treasures.
The pre-installed heatsink ensures that the drive remains cool even during intense workloads. Plus, it’s single-sided, making installation a breeze.
The 990 PRO takes the crown as the fastest SSD on our list of Best SSDs for the PS5. Load times? Practically nonexistent.
The 990 PRO is built to last, backed by a solid 5-year warranty.
The Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSD is a powerhouse that combines speed, capacity, and durability. Whether you’re a gamer, content creator, or professional, this drive won’t disappoint. Highly recommended!

My PS5 disc version ran out of space pretty quick. I am not mechanically inclined at all but was able to easily install this myself. The hardest part was the nerve wracking part was popping the the top of the case off. Ive had this installed for about a month and everything has been good with no difference in performance from standard hdd.

Bought the 4TB one to increase my PS5 Pro's stirage capacity. Works flawlessly and has no issues. If you're unsure how to install it, Sony has a DIY page and it does not void the warranty either.
