    Great Smart Fridge!

I had just bought a new place and needed a new fridge. I'm a tech geek and early adopter of technology, so this fridge was an obvious choice for me. I did wonder if this fridge would fit in my Apple-only ecosystem, and it really is fine. I did have to create a Samsung online account to use many features, but that's fine. I'm still learning about some of the features, but first I'll review what it is mainly supposed to be: a fridge. As with any fridge that has 2 side-by-side doors, make sure you have enough room to open the doors wide. If you can't open the doors completely it can make things difficult trying to remove some of the drawers. The separate drawer spaces are ideal. Being able to set the deli drawer at its own temperature is great. I really like that feature. I like the water and ice in the door, as I did not have that before in my previous fridge. I don't know if it's my water or the way it's designed, but the ice that is produced is "soft" ice, which I really like. Again, it may not be designed that way, but for me that's what I get. The adjustable shelves are ok. Thankfully one upper shelf will slide away half of itself to allow for taller items like gallon milk jugs and such, but it does not really make a lot of room. That kind of forces you to use the door bins (also adjustable) for those kinds of items, but that's not a good place to store items, where they will constantly be subjected to the temperature change caused by opening the door. But it's all manageable. Now for the tech features. The one thing I can't get the fridge to do well is display my television on its screen. It will connect with the TV (and it's not a Samsung), but the image won't display. I have not figured out how to get my shopping list created on the fridge, to display on my phone -- yet. The feature that displays what's inside the fridge can be invaluable. The fridge takes a picture every time you close the door. So next time you're at the store, if you can't remember if you have something in your fridge you can view it on your phone. You can't, however, see what is in the door bins. I've already synced my Outlook calendar, so I can see what's coming up each week or day without going to my phone. You can enter expiration dates of items in the fridge, and the fridge will alert you when those things are about to expire. I wish there was a way to do that automatically, like scanning the item rather than manually entering it. It will answer to voice commands with the Samsung assistant Bixby. You can tell Bixby to do things like set a timer, tell you the time, tell you your schedule, etc. I'm still learning.

    Fridge of the Future!

If it wasn't for the delivery and return of two (2) damaged refrigerators (which happened during the drive to our home, as they went on the truck just fine), to finally get it right on the 3rd delivery, I would have given five (5) stars. The fridge deserves that, but the delivery problem, impacted the overall purchase. The refrigerator itself is fabulous! It takes some 'trial and error' getting the maximum space out of the interior, as it's not exceptionally large, but we eventually came up with the combination of shelves; fully-opened, or partially opened, to allow for the various items we keep in the fridge on a regular basis. It would also had been helpful if the door held two (2) gallons of milk, rather than only one (1), but all of these elements pale in comparison to having a fridge with the Family Hub! This too, requires ongoing use to find the best ways to use it for your family, but we're still learning new things all the time and have mastered some of many of the overall things it will do. The entire family now has the Family Hub on each of our phones, which makes it so easy for any of us to swing by the grocery store and know what's on the current Shopping List, crossing each out as each item is found. People from home, can also add items to the list while someone is at the store and not bother them with a text or phone call. We use this application for Grocery Shopping, RX pick-up at the Pharmacy, non-RX purchases at the Pharmacy, and other items that need to be picked up, or purchased, from a variety of places. Notes are also easily left on the Hub from one family member to others, and so much more, that we've barely scratched the service for all that this Family Hub can do. While the Family Hub of course added some expense to the refrigerator, we all believe it was worth every cent and we actually got a great deal overall from Best Buy on it - and furthermore, to compensate us with the delivery issues and delays for receiving the final fridge. We would highly recommend this great fridge for anyone considering paying a little more to have access to the digital applications for the Family Hub. It will even play your favorite music while you cook!

Overall, I love this fridge much better than my side by side. I honestly did not think I would use the touchscreen that much, but we use it for a few things. We've hooked up the RING doorbell to it, so we can see who is at the door. The Samsung Apps is what is holding this back. The shopping list WAS great, until it topped out at 50 items...that was lame. Don't really use the Pandora built in, but it works. We use our Bluetooth speakers in the kitchen instead over a fridge. Space wise, the interior is really nice. Lots of room and flexibility with the shelves. We like the shelves that fold up and the ones that slide back. The bottom drawer on the fridge is nice also (the top section). The freezer part is nice also. Like the sliding shelf in that. The only odd thing about the freezer is the handle. Not sure why they all like pull up when you pull on them, seems to be a new feature on these French Door fridges, but it just feels loose. In addition, the gap at the top of the door is slightly larger than the bottom, like .5" vs 3/8", which is annoying, but not noticeable. I've adjusted the doors myself since the installers were horrible. Overall, the fridge works great, the tech portion could be improved. Please note, the installation of the fridge was AWFUL from Best Buy. 0 stars for that. They dented the fridge (luckily on the side of the freezer), scratched my walls, got mud all over the carpets. Still waiting for some resolution from Best Buy. They are NOT fair in what they offer. I'm sure every install is different, but mine was not good at all.

I got this on an open box deal (awesome price with minimal defects) and have had it for 9 months at this point so I feel I can provide a good review. The tech on this refrigerator is awesome and I don't even use half of it. It is always a topic of conversation when people come to my house. I love the Pandora feature so I can listen to music while I'm cooking or cleaning. Overall this is a good refrigerator. The only 2 cons are the ice maker and the lack of space for tall objects. The ice maker doesn't produce the correct ice all of the time. For instance when I press the cubed ice, I get cubed and crushed. The crushed ice is more like slush than cubed ice. That is not a big deal for me, but it may be for other. The space capacity on the inside for all objects is minimal. The shelves in the unit and on the doors have to be removed or not used if you have a 2 liter soda. I find myself laying drinks down flat rather than standing them up. Other than those 2 things I really enjoy this refrigerator.

I love this fridge as well! The technology and apps that are available right at your fingertips is amazing. Here is a link that you might find helpful with the slushy ice. https://bit.ly/2s7hPlo. Thank you for choosing Samsung. ^SuSu Samsung

No one "needs" this refrigerator, its definitely a "want". I wished i could have bought the 4 door, flex zone, but it was to tall for my built ins. Love that i can send my pictures to the screen, no more magnets. The screen is bright and clear and shows off my pictures (kids) in great color. I can synch my calendar to it, so my kids know if i have a meeting after work. Keeps the family in the know. Every family member can make their own "app/page" and write memos. I like the internet browser on it, so i can look up recipes. The recipe app built in will read you the recipe out loud. Ive only used the inside camera at my work once, which worked great. I can take a picture of the food in the fridge and record a voice nemo that shows up on the screen. Dad no longer eats our left overs. The fridge did not synch to my phone right away, i had to delete app and try again. Then freezers door is easy to open and does not feel like you are trying to pull the fridge over. However, the inside sliding drawer drags and does not open easy. The water thing in the door leaks water (couple of drops) long after you remove your cup.i gave it a 4 star, because I can't upload apps that i want like my phone. And the dribbling water is a little annoying.

The ability of this refrigerator is great. I love that you can get recipes right on the front, you can compose your shopping list and you can sync your phone to it so can get the list no matter where you are. You can get alerts on your phone whenever someone leaves the door open. The cameras that are built in the door view could be better. You can only see what is basically right up front. No visual for freezer or the vegetable bins. The top shelf does fold up on one side if you need room for something tall, however in my opinion the shelf space is not what I expected. My old icebox had more shelf space than this. So now everything looks junked in there. I'm glad I kept my old fridge for overflow space for taller items that needs to be on a shelf. The ice maker takes up entirely too much space. It would be better if it was in the door instead of taking up shelf space. My family love the capability just not so much the space availability inside. Not so sure that I could recommend this to anyone just because of the interior issues.

Have had this fridge for a month now. It's loaded with nice touches: The doors seal completely but are easy to open. The chilled water comes out of the spigot angled away from you, so you have less chance of getting splashed. Cooling uniformity all around the fridge is superb. Crispers have wide range of flexibility, and love that tray beneath them which will accept some large platters to keep foods ready and presentable. Now, the only reason I wouldn't give this a 5 is the big iPad. Does it do what it is supposed to? Yes for the most part. But the reason I got this model is that the BB sales staff assured me the calendar function was compatible with iCal on the Mac. Well, it is in a way, but you have to export the file to Google calendar and from there, you upload to the Samsung. This is fraught with delays, misalignments, duplications, slow replication. This one feature was a big selling point for me, and I've been disappointed. Everything else about the fridge would rate a 5 or 5+. Just be aware of the technical gap, and don't depend on sales people who don't have one of the fridges at home to be conversant.

This is a must have for the tech enthusiast or even the tech savvy parent. Some of the extra bells and whistles are very cool although unnecessary (i.e. camera in fridge, neat to show your friends, but provides no true value) but the Shopping List, Calender and Cooking Aps are easy to use and integrate with your phone. The Ring doorbell came with it and the software is loaded so it shows up on the door panel if someone rings the bell. Only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because like anything else with software, not everything runs smoothly as Samsung pushes updates. Eventually they fix themselves, but in the meantime some functionality may be loss (i.e. Screen Mirror currently doesn't work since their last update) Would definitely recommend to spend the extra money if you're already looking for something close to this price point.

Cool concept - yes. Worth the money? No. As an actual fridge it is amazing, but the tablet feature is outdated and very limited without rooting (like i want to root my fridge). Back to the good: the fridge works very well and it is very spacious. The setup is functional and the fridge itself looks very sleek and modern. I must admit i do like the camera feature to view the fridge's contents, but it's annoying that i have to tell it what everything is and when it expires every single time. Overall i give this unit a 3.5 because of all the above. Oh, and be VERY CAREFUL not to scratch it! It's way too expensive but if you're a geek you're gonna want it.

Purchased this fridge as a gift for the wife for Christmas. It is the lower end of the Family Hub-equipped refrigerators, but has most of the features of any mid-priced French door model. Very well illuminated inside, the in-door water dispenser fills all our water bottles very quickly, and despite the issues that some have said about the lack of ice it produces - we have two very involved athletes in our family who take water/ice to every practice, and no issues whatsoever. Beware, though - as nice as the black stainless looks, it scratches VERY easily. Forget putting magnets (which do actually work on all surfaces of the unit) on the doors unless they're the uber weak ones that are flat and used as advertisements. I'm hoping that Samsung has some sort of material owners can purchase that will fill in scratches.

I was not originally in the market for a techie fridge, but this one won me over. Plenty of fun features in the family hub to feed my techie side, plenty of space and organized storage to feed my foodie side. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the lack of door storage on the left side because of the ice maker, the shelves there are awkwardly shaped making it difficult to have them be useful for much. But this is a small issue compared to the handy features this fridge boasts. I utilize the camera and app more that I would have thought...very handy when you are at the store and can't remember if you have milk left or bought eggs last time. All and all, I recommend this fridge for anyone with a family or techie side!

If you have kids under 12 they will love the feature of Playing with the fridge tablet. It is also cool to answer your door bell from the fridge screen. I personally like being alerted when a fridge door is open. If you have smart things and Samsung to smart wise you can also control your lights from the fridge. If you try listening music with Pandora app don't expect great sound quality. Keep in mind that the fridge itself has very few space for bottles, or large milk size. However some of the shell sac convertible and you may be able to work around that.

I enjoy the family hub but I wish that the storage on the inside was built differently. My old LG was thought out better in regards to the inside spacing. The 2 are exactly the same cubic feet too. I love the family hub. Is it necessary, no, but I really like the convenience of the apps and calendar. We have 2 kids who have tons of extra curricular activities as well as Dad's work and Mom's PTO and volunteering.

After some issues with delivery that was 100% the stores fault, we received our refrigerator. Connecting to our WiFi was easy. Changing shelf height is easy, uploading photos easy, using Allrecipes and shopping lists as well as the ability to see inside is great. Only complaint we would have is that the calendar is not compatible with Apple’s calendar program. It’s obviously an android based Samsung platform and of course wants to use google or Microsoft for its calendar sync. We however have enjoyed the memos and whiteboard and the size of the fridge. We were glad to find this.

I have had good luck with the fridge so far. It does what it is supposed to keeps my food cold and ice coming when I want it. the touch screen is great there are features on it I can not use because the services are not available in my area yet like the shopping app. I do love to play music on it and the to do list is pretty sweet. I do however wish that it could be paired with amazons alexa instead of the Samsung Bixby. also there need to be a way to add apps to this thing you cant tell me the hardware cant handle this stuff we just need Samsung to open up the software some.

This is truly a fantastic refrigerator! Incredible that you can access TV shows, internet, music...all while hanging out in the kitchen. The only downfall I find is if you have tall items that belong in the refrigerator, not too many fit. This refrigerator has narrow spaces & not too tall spaces. So your tall bottle of teriyaki sauce or aloe Vera just may not fit at all in the door storage. The regular part of the fridge has very tiny spaces to put things as well. Maybe it's intended for cultures that use smaller items? Us Americans have huge food items probably, lol.

I am very pleased with this fridge. PROS: It has a good amount of room in both the top and freezer. The tablet works well and is very handy. Good speakers and camera. CONS: It can be a little difficult to fit items in the door slots. The left side door space is pretty narrow in places because the ice machine takes up most of the room. The ice machine tends to “spit out” ice when using the crushed option, and is very loud.

I would give this a 5, but I've had issues with the filter. I haven't had any luck getting it replaced without me paying for it, which isn't cool being that you spend almost 3k on a fridge and want everything to work properly. The fridge itself is awesome. Sometimes the camera doesn't get everything all in one shot but it's def an eye grabber when you want to host. I would buy again. I would make this 5 if it weren't for the filter.

It's a conversational piece for our visitors. We literally have an iPad on our fridge. Love how we can play music, watch the news, etc while working in the kitchen. Would have hoped for more space inside the fridge for an appliance this big. Got a ring doorbell for free with this kitchen package. It's so cool to view the people knocking by our door on this fridge. According to ring doorbell customer service, the fridge isn't compatible to their device. Hopefully, the last changes my husband made would have sorted the bug fixes.

Overall we love the fridge. Kids especially. The camera inside the fridge doesn't cover all of the fridge so. You know only what you see in one location. And what in front not the whole inside. The tray below the water dispenser could be designed differently. If just a little of water over flowed there is a puddle on the floor that if not caught could mess up someone hard wood or laminate floor. The inside could use a better material. And the ability to download apps from app store would be better
