    Greatest chromebook ever

I've been using the Galaxy Chromebook since April 9th and I just love it. Everything about this Chromebook is unbelievable. The build quality is unparalleled. There is nothing about this Chromebook that I don't like. Oh, and the display. I view a lot of content on this machine and it never fails to impress. Just picking it up is a joy. Much has been made of battery life. For me this is not an issue, even though I'm on my Chromebook 7-8 hours, I'm always close to an outlet. And I'm sure Samsung and Google will come up with a software fix. The greatest Chromebook ever!!

Coming from a Windows platform desktop and laptop, I set my expectations kinda in the middle. The specs on this laptop rival some medium spec laptops. Opening this up I was impressed with the quality of the Samsung. Nice metal finish in red screams look at me yet subtle enough to be fashionable. I charged it up in about an hour and I really like the dual USB-C ports on either side, both can charge the laptop. I opened up the screen, prompting the laptop to turn on and walk me through setting it up. This was a breeze and I really liked the process. The screen was on medium brightness and the battery read about 5.5 hours of life remaining. I left it at this setting and starting downloading some apps I have on my Note 10+. Most downloaded with out a hitch, but Golf Clash would freeze every time at 93%. I found it difficult to adjust to finding the apps as they are not on the home screen and only a few at the bottom. The screen is beautiful and vibrant. I set it up to mimic my phone; slightly on the cool side, vivid colors and medium brightness. However, I noticed they turning it off and restarting caused the brightness to reduce to about 35% every time. Didn't bother me much, just a note. Movies streamed well and the touch screen and pen function flawlessly. However, a 1080p screen would have done well enough and saved much needed battery. After two uses, about hour each, battery remained about 60%. I am currently writing this with about 30% battery left after multiple uses throughout the 2 weeks. The keyboard is fantastic and the touch pad responds well and is large enough. Sound works great, I was never looking for more. Bluetooth speakers and headphones paired without a hitch. I have noticed that the WIFI always says medium strength no matter where I go in the house. I have an AX router and the speeds reflect that. Overall, this is a great laptop. Not sure it would be my first choice, however, for someone that would use it for light business work, medium entertainment and movies, maybe some music while travelling, this will work great. Movies and streams look great, but be ready to charge it after a movie or two. I would recommend it but the price tag is high.

In the beginning, I loved this Chromebook. It's less than three years old. I DO NOT use it daily. The screen hinges are loose. The track pad no longer functions and causes glitching even when using a mouse. I do like the fact that it's so lightweight and easy to use.

The performance in the screen resolution are the best I've seen. The battery not so much. I just replaced it for 90 bucks after I went to Best buy and the guy said it's better to buy a new one. Didn't get it fixed so I did it myself which did save me money. If I can get another 3 years out of the battery I'll be even more happy

I can't get over how beautiful this Samsung - Galaxy 13.3" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Chromebook in Fiesta Red looks! Its all metal construction reminds me of how Apple phones used to be. Super thin and light. Keyboard is pretty flush takes a little getting used to, but that is what keeps the Samsung Chromebook thin and portable. Fingerprint reader is on the top right of keyboard. AmoLED 4K screen is amazing clear. Words, graphics, and video are sharp without bleeding. Touch screen is fast and accurate. To use it in tablet mode only just fully fold screen over and it disables the keyboard. The speed of the processor is very nice and and 256gb is sufficient memory, With the option to add more via the SD slot. Audio is sufficient, not deafening loud. Battery life is not so great, I can get almost 4hrs out of it. However, that is what the portable charger is for. Not a deal breaker. Although it has two USB-C ports, it does not even have one standard USB port. I like to have browser options, but it doesn't support Edge Chromium. Overall, this is one the best looking laptop/chrome book hands down. Nice metal construction, thin, light weight, portable, and with a AmoLED screen that rivals home TV's or even better. PLUS the built in pen writing recognition is quite accurate. It is nice that it has a built in pop out slot for it. Makes it harder to lose or misplace.

Good device but comes up short

    Posted .

I upgraded to this from the Galaxy Chromebook Pro. The picture quality and use of the device is great, but there are two major issues 1.) the battery life when fully charged shows a 5 hour and 37 min usage compared to the pro which was 8 hours and 32. Yes this can fluctuate based off your usage, display settings and video usage. i mirrored all settings between the two devices 2.) This device, just like the Chromebook Pro does NOT do a good job a fast roaming between access points. If i am on a video chat and i walk around my house or office, i am constantly disconnected temporarily when roaming from access point to access point. This appears to be a Chrome OS issue as i have seen the issue on 2 samsung chromebooks and an hp chromebook. I have never seen this issue on my phone or a windows based pc. It is VERY frustrating. If you are in a home/office with one access point you will not need to worry about the roaming issue and this is a great option for you!

Touchpad Issue - Otherwise All Good

    Posted .

If i wrote this review 6 months ago i would have said great device. Unfortunately 14 months in (and after warranty end) touchpad is broken. It intermittantly (but frequently) stops responding. It either goes whacky and starts moving itself around, or stops responding, or works for scrolling but then doesn't move or doesn't click. Can remedy partially with a bluetooth mouse - but when it goes whacky it starts intefering with that. So basically wonderful device - great screen and snappy - but $1k and poor touchpad after a year. Search for this issue and you'll find it isn't just me - and that is the problem...one faulty device ok...but there appears to be a systemic problem with these touchpads. One review said maybe due to the heat -and i'll say, the device gets excessively warm on the lap. I wish Samsung would waive the warranty and make the necessary repairs - own the design defect!

    Too hot to handle!

Bought one this morning, returning it tomorrow. It's pretty (fiesta red), but has one glaring problem: heat. After only one hour on YouTube, the bottom was so hot I had to use a twin fan coolng mat. Yes, it has a lot to offer (fingerprint reader, amoled display -which is oversaturated, by the way - pen, etc), but if you can't use it on your lap, what good is a laptop? At $999, I didn't expect such a disappointing major flaw.
