Bought this Samsung Galaxy A42 5G 128GB unlocked cell phone at Best Buy. The cell phone worked great the first 2 weeks. Took a short flight from Ft. Lauderdale Airport to BWI airport. Instead of setting Airplane Mode, I turned off the cell phone completely so as to save energy on my battery. Tried to turn it on again at arrival at BWI airport but the phone was completely dead. Could not restart it or even show any signs of recharging. The screen was completely black (dead). Excellent Best Buy Service for replacing this bad cell phone.

My A32 was stolen, went up one not to the A42 as a replacement, it has every feature you will need. more storage than the A32 better screen resolution ect. My only regret is that over Black Friday Amazon had the A52 for the same price I paid for the A42 guess I was too inpatient should have waited a couple of day. Good mid-level phone none the less.

Brought this a year ago, I liked the features. Now the battery dies like it's on a mission!!! can't even spend a day without charging it, almost charging it twice a day.

Phone has decent hardware specs, is fast enough for my needs. Not very good signal strength though - no 5G inside my home and non-5G signal only 1-2 bars (previous phone, same carrier, non-5G, had better). 5G outside home in same locations could be anywhere from 1-5 bars. Music streaming (outside and with several different apps) randomly and regularly stops. I'm guessing this is due to poor signal, have tried numerous potential fixes found online but no improvement. (Again, previous almost never did this.) Some of this may be carrier related but seems random. Not a fan of the Samsung add-ons to phones, not as bad as they used to be but still too much. Netflix came preinstalled and can't be uninstalled. This is just annoying, doesn't make me want to use the app.

I did not exactly what type of phone I wanted or needed. The sales team spent time with me to show and explain the different features of not only the top Samsung but a less expensive model. I only use the phone for talk and text so the choice was made simple

This phone is really disappointing if you want a dual sim phone. On the bestbuy website, it is one out of two phones that are listed as dual SIM ones. If you open the SIM slot, the phone actually has two SIM docks (called SIM1 and SIM2 or microSD, note that the second SIM will block the microSD slot). Likewise, the description on the back of the box says "This device hardware can support SIM + microSD or dual SIM, however dual SIM functionality will not be available at launch. A software upgrade will be required for dual SIM functionality". This is highly misleading. I've put two working SIM cards into the phone, but the phone only recognizes one sim card at a time (the one which is in the slot SIM1). This situation doesn't change even if you install the latest updates. I've spent several hours on the Samsung hotline to solve the problem. They finally sent me to an authorized service center, where the phone's software was flashed to the international version. None of this helped. It seems that the phone has a single-SIM motherboard and the information shown on the website, on the SIM card slot and on the package are simply wrong. In conclusion, don't buy this phone if you want to use its pretended dual SIM technology. If you just want to insert one SIM, it works fine (but there are clearly cheaper phones that work equally well with just one SIM).

Worth the value of it’s price nice quality camera ok

This phone could be but i bought it refurbished & regret it. The sales said the previous owner only had it for a week but aftwr owbing this phone for a month, the audio keeps shorting. I did a reset with the help of a samsung representative and the phone worked well for another 3 weeks. I contacted best buy about the issue and was told to send an email to a corporate address and i have yet to get a reponse. Terrible customer service as i keep getting the run around on getting this phone fixed.
