Unlocked version missing basic feature in calls
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the unlocked version because it was on sale for significantly cheaper than the carrier locked version. I have Verizon and used Verizon's HD Voice feature for years on the Galaxy S6 to make video calls with my family and it was easy to switch between voice chat and video call without having to hang up and re-dial with a 3rd party app. The Carrier locked version is capable of doing this using the native phone app, but unlocked version is somehow incapable of doing this. Funny enough, it is the exact same app as the one the Verizon store support person showed me. A simple check in the phone app to determine what carrier you are using should be sufficient to get this working. Otherwise this is a decent phone. This review would change to 5 star if Samsung updates the phone app to be able to support this very simple feature that it should be able to support out of the box. Since this is a feature I use several times per week, I am forced to give this a low rating. Had I known that feature would be missing, I would have gladly spent the extra money on the locked version.

Has been a horrid experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's start with some facts: 1) I am a VERY happy Samsung galaxy user. 2) I worked in IT and know my way around phones. In August, i got this phone for my mother as she was looking to upgrade from her mid-level Motorola. The A50 had just come out and the reviews I could find online seemed good...especially for the price. Reality is, this is by far, the worst phone experience I've ever been around. Software issues, microphone issues, speakerphone issues, the camera force closes 50% of the time, location issues. I have tried everything I can think of to improve it's function, to no avail. My mother is sick of it and ready to move on to a phone her novice-level can handle more appropriately. I contacted Samsung and they told me it didn't sound like anything a warranty would cover and we'd be on the hook for a repairman if there was nothing to fix under warranty. Best Buy told me to contact Samsung. Verizon told me I'd have to pay off the balance (18 months of payments left) to upgrade the line again. Basically...I am stuck with a total piece of crap phone. The only thing this phone does well is utilize its web browsing quickly. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. Spend the extra from a Galaxy or look at Motorola for mid-level pricing.

Great phone for the money! $199
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i just got it yesterday but works great with everything, it doesn't work with my wireless costco flat charger, and is not water resistant, but still OK for me.

Reviews said it has glitches; they were right.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within 30 minutes of using a chat-app on this phone, it froze. An occurance which never once happened on any other (much cheaper) phone I've used. Secondly, when comparing the camera, continuously the FLASH on this camera did not get captured by the camera. The flash would go off, but the camera did not capture the flash; so the flash went off for nothing. Again and again and again this happened. That was it for me so I'll be paying the $45 restocking fee and returning it.

Not compatible with Verizon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also was unable to connect this phone to the Verizon voice network. With a Verizon sim card, you will be able to use data all day but no phone call and no text messages. The phone itself is nice but unfortunately if you're a customer of Verizon prepaid, look elsewhere. It would have 5 stars if I could use it.

Great phone horrible finger scannee
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Your finger has to be cleaner than mr. Clean's finger for it to read your finger. I had a 50 dollar lg phone with a better finger print scanner than this phone. Other than that the phone is awesome.

Only needed 3 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.coming from a pixel owner going to this was a mistake. Nice light phone, weight wise. Decided to return this coming weekend. Everything else was not good. Not worth the money.

Incompatible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unlocked phone was not compatible with Verizon. This is apparently a known issue, according to the Best Buy rep, but we spent over two hours attempting to establish a connection nonetheless. Neither the sim card that came with it nor the Verizon sim card from my existing phone would work. Thid should not ve advertised as being compatible with Verizon. Looking forward to updating my review once my Verizon locked version of this phone arrives.

Not compatible with Verizon & other issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone is not compatible with Verizon, although they use a sim card. I confirmed this. The phone was not able to make and receive calls, although I was was able to get online and receive texts. Also, when using the phone, the battery drains very fast, faster than normal. It also had problems with the camera where it would constantly warp due to the auto focus feature. This happened for both photos and videos. You won't receive gmail notifications in time with this phone, if at all. You have to use the stock email app and add your gmail account to it. Finally, it comes with 4GB of RAM but the OS system and bloatware take up 2.2GB of RAM right off the bat so you're only left with 1.8GB of RAM for your other apps. Overall, I wasn't satisfied with this phone and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Great Phone NO AT&T or Cricket Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone will not be supported by AT&T or Cricket. Talked to two Samsung reps and read up on what others had to say, it may have ONE band but if you get out of that ONE bands your out of luck. https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/phones/galaxy-a/buy/ Good phone NO AT&T or Cricket.

Waste if money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this phone because it said it would work with Boost but it turns out Boost couldn't even activate it. (Do not buy this if you have Boost.) So I figure no biggie, I'll switch to Verizon. I got my sim card, plugged it in and surprise surprise, there was no service. After over an hour with tech support from Verizon service could not be fully activated so I said screw it and returned it to Best buy for a different device. Of course since the sale wasn't on any more I wound up owing another $25, so thanks for nothing Samsung. I won't buy another one of your devices again.
