I bought the Galaxy A51 after my Galaxy S5 Active all of the sudden died (after at least 5 years). I did not want to pay $1K for one of the flagship Samsung phones, so I bought the Galaxy A51 outright (AT&T). I was back & forth between the Galaxy A51 and the Google Pixel 4a (same price $349). After looking at both, I went with the Samsung - the Pixel 4a doesn't allow for a MicroSD card, and per reviews doesn't have a dedicated "back" button. Also, there's an obvious size difference. Pros: - Supports a MicroSD card (the Pixel 4a does not) and the phone comes with a SIM/MicroSD card slot tool, for replacement. Which was a nice touch, not having to dig for a paper clip or thumb tack. - Battery life -- I've seen some reviews critical of the battery life, but to me the battery has been exceptional. I get at least 24 hours on my battery (screen brightness at 30% which is well enough for me & have the "dark theme/mode" enabled, I also am not utilizing Samsung apps: Bixby/Free/Edge). And I'm on Twitter/Email/Slack constantly. - Camera -- Great main camera... great resolution on regular pics & excellent zoom, great panoramic pics, decent resolution on videos. The front facing (selfie) camera is also good - good resolution & has easy selfie picture function. - It does have an earphone jack (as does the Pixel 4a), which is a must for me. More on that below. Cons: - No "hard" buttons at the bottom for: apps/home/back, like my previous Galaxy S5 Active had. For me personally, the soft/touch screen buttons will take some getting used to, but for others it's probably not a big deal. Just my personal preference. (To note: I've read reviews where the Pixel 4a does not have a back button, you have to swipe) - The default wallpaper and icons (phone/text/camera/pics) are quite "cartoonish" or childish looking (pictures attached). The app icons looked nothing like my 5 year old Galaxy S5 icons & wallpaper. There are free themes/wallpapers/icons you can download, but out of the box it's a disappointment. But, for a budget phone I can live with it. Other observations: - Obviously, it comes preloaded with all of the Google apps, some Microsoft Office apps, which I use. And of course some of the Samsung bloatware apps, but that hasn't been a problem for my usage or battery life. I had to set Chrome as the default browser, instead of Samsung's native browser. - On phone calls, unless you hold the phone close to your ear/face in "just the right way"... the touchscreen will re-engage - which could have the potential for your cheek to hang up on the call. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I've noticed it's very particular about how you hold the phone while on a call. - The earphone jack is located on the bottom (versus at the top for my previous Galaxy S5 & the Pixel 4a). First phone I've had that had it at the bottom... but after some usage, I'm getting used to it - if you have headphones wired in & put your phone in your pocket "top down" it makes sense. - I've already dropped the phone onto concrete from about 2 feet high, luckily no damage. I have the $20 UAG case from Best Buy, which is more firm rubber than the $30 UAG case. The $20 UAG case makes it a bit harder to press the volume & 'action' buttons on the side, so consider the $30 UAG case which is softer & should allow for easier pressing of the side buttons. All in all, this is an excellent phone for the money. I would definitely buy again, and recommend to anyone not wanting to drop $1K on a phone.

This phone has been very trustworthy and reliable for the three and a half years I've had it. It's been through six guinea pigs, quite a few accidental drops, a move across the country, two unforgettable concerts, and many, many memories taken on its camera in between. The battery is just now starting to give me issues, so sadly I am on the market for a new phone, but if I could give this one more than a 5-star rating, I would!

I bought this phone for my mom last week when her old Motorola suddenly stopped working. She did not need too many functions but likes to take pictures so I picked this phone. I was a bit hesitant to begin with since there's only 1 five-star review at the time but I'm glad I decided to take the risk. The phone is very slim, classy in appearance, and easy to setup and use. Also, the current sale price accompanied by 128GB is phenomenal. Overall, my mom loves her new phone. My only complaint is the dimension of the phone is longer than my current S7 and I worry it might drop out of my pocket since I have a habit of using it as a wallet instead of carrying a purse. It's a tough decision.

I was so delighted that this decidedly kicked my just broken glass Galaxy s8+ which I was using straight to the gutter. Well, yes, the price I paid for the S class versus Samsungs new midrange price A series makes this phone perfect for somone who needs a: Brand new phone with practically the newest features in regards to much better cameras twice the memory and much larger batteries Realized that at the time the S class had increased 300 dollars more from the 3 years prior version, making a phone that was 850 dollars to increase that much for the same line of phone (the best of the Samsungs you can get with the perks) was very unreasonable at the time. 5G phones had just started coming out and unless you're a 1% who maybe can get it at a location in new york city on a block now, you will be waiting awhile before we can have 5g as a function that is practical. This phone was 4g and if I wanted to buy something I can't use it would be outdated by the time I could which is pointless. That makes this a midrange phone by knocking off that for example, because it would need a processor that has minimum requirements and is expensive to use 5g. Need a phone that has the latest operating systems and as much storage as the high end phones...you can't go wrong there. Battery lasts long as the newest ones and has the same amount of charge. Haven't had any issues including errors crashes bugs or anything so I have never had to question anything review material or call support. Its perfect for someone who wants to be able to do everything basically the top end phones can without having just some of the things that shouldn't make you blink unless you're a junky who needs a bleeding edge product.

There’s so many negative reviews regarding this phone, mainly comparing it to the much more expensive flagship devices. I’m here to lay down an unbiased review, as someone who has used both flagship and budget. You can’t buy this phone and expect flagship qualities and features, there just won’t be any. But as for a midrange phone, it’s very well worth the money! Performance wise, it’s what you would expect for the price. It’s not the snappiest phone in the world but it gets the job done! The display is absolutely stunning, better than my previous $900 iPhone to be completely honest. For someone with bad eyesight, I very much appreciate the screen size, and how customizable the blue light filter is! The headphone jack and sd card slot is a major bonus for me as well! Considering how that isn’t available on the newest flagship phones anymore, it’s something to consider if it’s important to you! For the camera, it’s absolutely amazing considering the price! It very much reminds me of my Samsung galaxy s8 camera, which I adored. The 128 gb is more than enough for the average phone user, and the fact that you can expand that with the sd card slot is more than generous! All in all, this is the best Samsung budget phone you could get in my opinion! I hope this helps you :)

Bought this phone for my teenage son. We bought a GeekSquad recertified phone and it looks and works just like new. The camera set up is really nice and there are plenty of accessories on the market even though it is a new model. It would be nice to have wireless charging, but it is still a great phone for the price. Just plugged in the Verizon SIM card and it worked like a charm.

Very good phone. Good camera. Tons of memory, even more with add'l 32gb memory card purchased. Haven't even come close to filling it with tons of pix, etc. Long lasting battery, & with built in quick charge, charges very quickly. Bought an Otterbox Defender case/holster & screen protectors, for ultimate protection. Aft Over a year old & still going strong. After dropping phone numerous times, finally sustained damage. Cracked screen protector's glass sheet. But I bought 3! Just slap another one on, Ta daa! Got phone on sale at Best Buy for $290 out the door. Great deal, they're still selling for $100 more. Liked it enough, that I just ordered one for my wife, at Best Buy, with 2yr. Geek Squad warranty. Altogether w/ 2yr. warranty, cost $522 out the door, over a year after buying mine with a great deal! Unlocked means carrier can't mess with it.

I just upgraded from the LG Stylo series to this and I love it. I've previously owned the LG Stylo 2, 3+ and 4 and the Samsung A51 is a major upgrade. I admit I miss having a phablet (phone + tablet), dual tab some other features exclusive to LG phones but I feel like I get more with phone. It runs fast with virtually no lag between apps. I don't play mobile games so I can't tell it's frame rate specs. The display is very bright and detailed even though I have it on low settings. The battery life is longer than my prev phones. In an average 8 hour work day of minimal usage (checking Instagram and making phone calls) I only lose 10 to 15% battery life and fast charging is pretty fast. I get 70% to 100% in 20 minutes which ain't bad. I love the camera shot details. You can achieve focused shots, wide shots, panoramic shots and micro shots (very detailed) and the from camera is very sharp. Overall I love this phone and I would recommend this to my friends though they are all iPhone people.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a gorgeous display, good battery life, a high quality camera, great build quality, a balanced performance (not low or high in performance [right in the middle]), and is an affordable option for people who want a Samsung smartphone that is not in the $1,000 price range or close to the $1,000 price range... This phone definitely gives you a good amount of bang for your buck!

Honestly I believe this $300 (At the time of buying it) phone is comparable to a flagship phone. Haven't notice any slowness or hitching when using this phone. the 4000mAh battery is awesome and the skinny & tall design is nice for one handed use, much easier to reach across the screen with your thumb. I get about 36hrs before it hits 10%. 24hrs if I am moderately using it. Much better than my LG G6.

Got fed up being forced to buy a $1500+ smartphone with features that I didn't use. This phone has Samsung quality throughout. Great screen clarity, easy app rearrangement. It is easy to operate and only took about 30 minutes to get it set up to my liking. Costs 75% LESS than an iphone and has the same features, Highly recommend this phone.

For the first time I don't have to deal with all the bloatware that the major carriers install on the phones bought through them, this unlocked phone is awesome. My previous phone was an S7 Active which served me well but I wanted to upgrade to an unlocked phone to switch to Mint Mobile(which was an excellent choice) from AT&T. Since I had a Samsung account it was easy to transfer everything over through the cloud, same thing with Google transferring stuff over as well. I would recommend getting an ArmadilloTek case for it off of Amazon, it's a nicely designed case and the material has good grip so it stays in your hands. It does NOT come with a screen protector though so that will need to be purchased as well.

This was my second choice phone but, even though it isn't 5G (which you don't get everywhere yet anyways) i am very satisfied with it. The speed screen quality and the camera alone were worth the money. Though I wasn't happy with the service I received from Best Buy! The kid actually argued with me when I returned the Motorola On 5G Ace and I told him Verizon prepaid told me it wasn't compatible for their network. His arrogance and know it all attitude almost made me just leave the store and just buy my current phone straight from Samsung. I am very happy with this Samsung A51. My next purchase will be the Samsung Watch 3, though, I don't think I'll be going to Best Buy to.purchase it, that salesperson just left a bad taste in my mind, I mean leave the attitude at home when you're dealing with a customer service type job.

If you are looking for a flagship quality phone for around $500 less this is your phone. I would warn that it is thin, slippery, and somewhat fragile, so don't go crazy with it until you have a good quality case and a tempered glass screen protector installed. speakers are so-so but does sound great with headphones. so far as i can tell the only things a flagship phone will do that this won't is to wireless charge, or drop in 5 feet of water. if you can live with that, save your money and get this phone.
