Nice Laptop, Meh Content Creation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a sleek, simple, light laptop. The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro really dazzles with the AMOLED screen. As expected Samsung has a great bright display. It's a little weird that the screen is rounded. All my other laptops are squared off. I haven't found an issue, just different. I love that Samsung is efficient with the space even with a giant track pad. This is the same size as my 15” Alienware that doesn't have a full keyboard like this one. It's nice that it's equipped with a finger print reader however I'd prefer facial recognition to log in. I'm extremely surprised that the camera is not high enough quality to use that feature. At least according to Windows when I tried to set it up. I haven't had any issues with the track pad activating while I'm typing so it looks like Samsung has done a great job with palm recognition. I'm a little disappointed in Samsung's push that this laptop is good for creators. I was able to do creating and editing with Adobe Photoshop and Premier, however when I went to export my video it took twice as long as my older laptop. It also took twice as long to transfer videos over the USB-C to be edited. What was a pleasant surprise though was the battery and heat distribution. I was able to do video editing on battery power only far longer than my other laptop and the Book5 wasn't even hot. This is a major improvement from what I have been working with. It also charged extremely fast once I did plug it in while I was working. So just know that you are sacrificing some video rendering time with the other benefits. Even though this doesn't really have the specs of a gaming laptop without a powerful NVIDIA, I tried it out anyways. I played Diablo III and it was smooth. Paired with the great display it was really enjoyable. So for some light gaming I think this gets the job done. The sound is also impressive for how small everything is. You notice the subwoofer added to this model when you play music. I was surprised this doesn't come with a big power supply. It just has a fast charging wall wart which helps with it's portability. It feels durable with it's aluminum casing. I didn't really notice any of the AI features outside of having a dedicated Copilot key. Overall this is a pretty good laptop. It does a good enough job at content creating but I would of expected it to excel at it with all the advertising. I think the connectivity with other Samsung devices is pretty cool but I haven't found a need for it yet. The battery life is very impressive. I would recommend this if the short comings are acceptable.

New Tech
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While unboxing the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro I was immediately impressed by the low profile, polished aluminum casing and the 16-inch AMOLED touchscreen. 16GB of memory and 1 TB SSD provides plenty of RAM to run multiple applications simultaneously and plenty of storage for photos and gaming. The touchscreen is made of Corning Gorilla Glass that’s antireflective, automatically adjusts the screen to allow the best picture in different lighting, has full HD screen resolution, and amazing screen responsiveness. This laptop also offers the option of connecting your Galaxy Tab S Series as a second screen to provide additional workspace. There is a very large track pad, but I don’t believe the screen or touchpad are compatible with any type of stylus (like Samsung’s S pen) that would allow you to draw on the screen or write notes. There is another version of this laptop, the 360, that is compatible with the S pen. This capability would have been a great addition to this version also. Surprisingly there is no IR camera to allow the use of biometric security features like facial recognition. I also wish the keyboard were backlit for use in less than optimal lighting. The lightweight and low profile make this laptop ideal for someone who travels for work or a student who is constantly on the run. It weighs in at just less than 3.5 lbs. and measures approximately 10’h x 12’w x 0.5’d. Included are a fast charging block and a charging cord that is USB C on both ends. The inputs on the computer are one USB Type-A, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, a headphone/microphone jack, and a MicroSD media card slot. Samsung advertises up to 25hour battery life with its lithium-ion battery and up to a 35% fast charge in 30 minutes using the included charger and cord. I found the initial charge to last over 20 hours and that a 30-minute fast charge produced a 30% charge. Both of which are impressive. The Galaxy Book5 Pro has 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound. I tested the sound by playing downloaded music and streaming an action movie. The speakers sounded great but did have slight distortion of the bass when the volume was maxed out. This computer generates almost no noise and after surfing the Internet for several hours I noticed that the cooling fan had clicked on but it was extremely quiet. This computer runs on the newest Windows11 Home operating system with state of the art Copilot+ PC artificial intelligence. It has the latest Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 processor which helps the computer operate quickly even with numerous processes running. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth provided amazing response time while working and almost immediate connections to both my home and outside networks. While my uses for this laptop are pretty generic I haven’t scratched the surface of some of the next generation tech that it offers. I hope to explore more of these features in the near future, including: • Phone Link which allows you to sync your smartphone and PC • AI Select lets you trace or circle an image on the screen and get search results • Photo Remaster retouches photos in the Samsung Gallery • Live Captions automatically generates captions in English during meetings and video streaming when it detects other languages being spoken • Bixby the built-in voice assistant While this is definitely not an entry-level laptop it is very easy to use and it will definitely appeal to those on the market for the most up to date technology.
