I would rate this phone a 5 for its battery life, clear display, stylus, and overall functionality, however, I can only give it a 4 because it is not compatible with all Verizon apps as the sales representative stated. I brought this as a gift, and we waited to activate for convenient reasons (i.e. work), but we should have activated automatically. First, the phone would not activate with the Verizon SIMs card in place so we had to take it to the store to get activated, and 2 weeks later (outside of the return/exchange date) we found out that there is a Verizon voicemail app that all new Samsung phones must download to receive notifications of voicemails. I was not told of this at the time of purchase, otherwise, I would have brought the locked phone. In general, this is a great phone, however, if you want to be stuck checking basic voicemail everyday because you won't be notified of incoming voicemails or finding another app to support your voicemails then I suggest you purchase the locked version of this phone.

This phone is a great upgrade from my Galaxy 5 Note! The stylus is more reactive. I like the side menu where I can have favorite apps slide out from the side for easy access.

    Purchased as unlocked for Sprint

I love my phone. The only thing I would do differently is to have it unlocked after I was a Sprint member. If you unlock it before the phone is activated then you will not be able to receive all of the Sprint applications. This was disappointing to me, especially because I'm not able to use the Sprint voicemail.

Crashes unexpectedly. Apps are not user friendly. Installing things are not user friendly. I hate it and now I'm stuck with it.

The Note 8 is by far the most useful multipurpose phone I have ever own.Despite the setback of $1,000+, it's truly shows it worth from the bezzleless screen to its high resolution color display. The intergrated useage of the S Pen is more capable than preivous note series. The battery is much better than credited and I run youtube ,snapchat, and a lot of gaming apps thats 8 AM to 1 AM. From 100% to 41% without power saver on. You are honestly getting your moneys worth. Only downside is clean the screen since it glass and all. but Still worth it.

I purchased this phone as a result of my old Note3 being on it's final trip. I am still learning how to use all the features. The PROS. It's fast, I can run all my apps. It has enough memory to do what I need at the moment. The screen is sharp and there is plenty of room to occasionally use the split screen option. Love the pen. CONS :there are still a lot of apps that come with this phone that I don't want or even an explanation of what will they do for me.

Upgraded from the Note 4 -- yes I was holding out for a phone with an external/removable battery, clearly that isn't going to be happening anytime soon. So, I upgraded to the Note 8. Love this phone. The pictures are cleaner and the transfer over is very easy. The only down side I've experienced is that you can not cycle through your apps (you have to go from start to end, and then back... before you could be at the end and swipe to the next screen and it would take you to the beginning). Also, I've been having issues with the wireless charging - both on the pad and the stand. I got the rugged samsung case and at first it charged wirelessly just fine, then it started to have issues and now it is very hit or miss. But overall I'm very happy with this upgrade, sure beats getting an iPhone.

My first Samsung phone, and after reading the reviews on GSMArena decided to take the plunge. The dual camera setup takes incredible pics, which was one of the main reasons I wanted this phone. Not a fan of a dedicated button on the side just for Bixby, it's quite annoying because I always seem to hit it somehow. I wish there was a way to reassign the button to something more useful. Impressed by being able to block calls natively, but unfortunately blocking texts won't happen without replacing the standard texting app...which are crap. Battery life is amazing...if you keep it powered off. . otherwise one slow day at work and you'll drain it to nothing before the end of the day. Aside from all that it's still an amazing product and I don't regret it, looking forward to using it to it's full potential.

In terms of functionality, this phone is great. It has all the bells and whistles one could want on a phone and then some. Personally, I prefer these larger screen phones and this one was just right for me. Main issue I had with this phone was all the Samsung bloatware on it. Some of it was useful however the majority of it was just junk. Sifting through all the settings menu to disable apps or uninstall them was a pain. Camera takes great photos and crisp video. Fingerprint sensor is on the back which seems a bit odd for me however it works pretty well. The iris and facial recognition is okay as well. Speed of the phone was great and never had any issue with booting up apps or anything like that.

    A titan arrives

This new Galaxy Note from Samsung is a real titan of a smartphone. So many things in it that are great. Customization options are through the roof, build quality is phenomenal, and the overall item is worth the high price in my experiences so far. To start, I was getting quite grouchy with my old Note 3 because of the app permissions that were being heaped into updates. And it was an accept them all, or no update/no app. On the Note 8, Samsung (or maybe it was Android) gave us the ability to select which individual permissions for each app are enabled or disabled. Yahoo! The other surprising customization options was icons, themes, and wallpapers. Astounding level of customization there. Icons can have their own theme, independent of wallpaper and other elements. Or, the Samsung themes can have a unified theme for all parts of the device (call screen, contacts, menus, icons, sounds effects, etc). I've snooped around and combined a basic facsimile to a Star Trek theme with custom sounds from the NSTEnterprises and the Red Alert wallpaper to make my perfect "tricorder/Star Trek" look and sounds for my device. The lack of a hard home button and the softkeys was a bit of a transition for me, yet Samsung put in a nice option of having the screen buttons locked on all the time, appearing at a swipe from screen bottom, or having a button to toggle between lock and hidden (much like Windows pop up bar). And the speed of the hardware in astonishing. I've done so much already that my old Note 3 barely did or did only ok on. I run the Knights of the Old Republic for Android game on it and there is not one hiccup. And the S Pen makes playing so many games that much easier. S Pen functions I've still to delve into a lot, yet it seems to have been massively expanded on from my Note 3 era. Very smooth. I've just had such a great time with the freedoms Samsung built in that I can't find much to complain about. Only qualm is moving my Note 3 S Notes over to the new Samsung Notes turned them from editable notes into notes with pictures of my old notes in them. So I essentially have to retype all my notes, though since the originals are there in picture form not too bad. Fingerprint sensor is a bit oddly placed, not too bad for me since I've big hands and a case that helps me find the sensor over the camera lens. Bixby is all but useless for me, as is the dedicated button for it. I've hit it more than I like going for the volume keys. The stock Gallery app is also pretty bad after my Galaxy Note 3. Very, very few options for display and organization. Another small annoyance is the constant reminders from the camera to clean it because "camera works better when clean". Yeah, well, I work outdoors so a smudge is almost assured each and every day. Camera picture quality is not degraded except by the most obvious of smudges. Quality of the camera is top notch too. Still testing how far it can go. So overall, hard to be disappointed with this device. USB-C, wireless fast charging, astonishingly efficient battery, all the great things they advertised plus a number of other things less talked about.
