Love my phone with a few caveats

I have had this phone since the Day 1 launch in the US. Its a very good phone with some difficulties. The phone is difficult to hold in one hand because its so big and you will need a good case if you want to save it from cracks. Trust me, that'll happen. The phone flew for the first few months but trust Samsung's bloatware to weigh things down after 6 months or so. Even with 6 GB ram, the phone shows the occasional stutters now and then. I am surprised. I like to keep my phone streamlined in terms of apps downloaded vs used on a daily basis ratio so I am surprised. I keep telling myself that I wont buy a Samsung but I keep returning to them because of their awesome hardware. The battery is a real letdown though. It usually lasts for half a day before I have to plug it in. I keep my location on so that Google can keep an eerie track on my whereabouts but still this is unacceptable from a phone as powerful as this. They played it safe after the Note 7 fiasco but it really handicapped the phone. I don't use the Pen which comes with the phone anymore. At this point its just a novelty item used to bump up the price of the phone. I had a Note 5 before this and the S Pen was much sturdier before. Lastly, with the way the prices are going sky-high and mid-tier phones becoming so good, its hard to justify the price I paid for this phone. Over a 1000 dollars after taxes.

Good phone in general, but not with Verizon vm

I would rate this phone a 5 for its battery life, clear display, stylus, and overall functionality, however, I can only give it a 4 because it is not compatible with all Verizon apps as the sales representative stated. I brought this as a gift, and we waited to activate for convenient reasons (i.e. work), but we should have activated automatically. First, the phone would not activate with the Verizon SIMs card in place so we had to take it to the store to get activated, and 2 weeks later (outside of the return/exchange date) we found out that there is a Verizon voicemail app that all new Samsung phones must download to receive notifications of voicemails. I was not told of this at the time of purchase, otherwise, I would have brought the locked phone. In general, this is a great phone, however, if you want to be stuck checking basic voicemail everyday because you won't be notified of incoming voicemails or finding another app to support your voicemails then I suggest you purchase the locked version of this phone.

Got my Unlocked Note 8. Big phone, but does so much for me. I bought my phone and was told I'd get electronic instructions to claim my free gift. Either a Fast wireless charging dock + 128 GB MicroSD card, or the new Gear 360 camera. I registered my product with Samsung within a few days. Never got an email from Best Buy or Samsung about how to claim my offer. Since it's been a few weeks, I went ahead and tried to find some kind of info. I had to call BB support, and was told how to do it...finally! BUT I was too late to register for it by 2 days! They told me they couldn't do anything and to call Samsung. Called Samsung, apparently there's a resubmission deadline, but I can't take advantage of that b/c I never registered during the initial promo period. Bottom line, is that I'm SUPER upset that I am now missing out on an offer that was promised to me, and was told by the Best Buy employee that I would receive all my info via email. Which, I never did, and now I'm SOL. Hoping Best Buy will reach out and make this right.

Good phone, some things not fixed from prior model

The Note 8 is a good phone, however they still have not fixed the setting of the default apps. It still always asks if you want to always use a certain app to open or just once, regardless of how many times you choose always. The charging plugs are different but thankfully they give you an adapter so you can use all your old cords. One thing that's problematic enough for me that I bought a second att locked phone. This unlocked version does not allow Wi-Fi calling. It's ridiculous, I specifically bought unlocked so I would have all the features, but now some are locked away and are carrier specific. Also Bixby is annoying, but now we have Samsung pay and a fingerprint reader which are extremely awesome. If you like your built in stylus, this will be the last one made, so you have no choice to but to buy and covet this wonderful phone. Don't forget the built in heart rate, oxygen rate and stress monitor. Awesome.

I admit that I go hard on my phones because I see no gain in throwing away an outdated phone in perfect conditions. So, no bulky protective cases (and no beaded seat rests either). While the technical and operational merits of the Note8 are unquestionable, the curved all glass design has some drawback - it is not as sturdy as the previous models with a sturdier (uglier) metal frame. My Note 5 is completely banged up but no damage at all to the screen. I dropped the Note8 twice - one time a hairline crack across the front screen, and a second time, crushed corner on the glass back. None of the blemishes so far impede functionality, but I did not test whether water proofing got impaired. Using an ugly cover on the elegant phone seems a heresy, but dropping is definitely carries more risk than on the older models.

I have had iPhone since 3. I'm not a super Apple fan. I don't get a new one every year or anything. But the interface does what I need it to do. I was however getting really tired of the data storage issues, battery life, and the camera not being as great as I think it should be in this age. So I made the switch for my upcoming trip to Europe where my phone will be my camera and I don't want to miss a minute at the Arch D' Triumph. And this phone is...well ok...it is a phone. It does some cool things but it just is not as intuitive as an iPhone. I'm missing calls because this phone doesn't make it easy to answer them. I don't know what the is up with Bixby...she is useless so far. But my pictures are awesome and I put a 256gb card in it so that is what I said I was after.

My first Samsung phone, and after reading the reviews on GSMArena decided to take the plunge. The dual camera setup takes incredible pics, which was one of the main reasons I wanted this phone. Not a fan of a dedicated button on the side just for Bixby, it's quite annoying because I always seem to hit it somehow. I wish there was a way to reassign the button to something more useful. Impressed by being able to block calls natively, but unfortunately blocking texts won't happen without replacing the standard texting app...which are crap. Battery life is amazing...if you keep it powered off..otherwise one slow day at work and you'll drain it to nothing before the end of the day. Aside from all that it's still an amazing product and I don't regret it, looking forward to using it to it's full potential.

Design aspect: 3/5 Aesthetically the phone is not lacking. It grips you with its delicate design. However, in terms of functionality, the placement of the fingerprint sensor is quite impractical. it is a real struggle for people with relatively smaller hands. My mother needs a 2 move maneuver to be able to unlock the device. Value for money:3.5/5 At 950$ price tag, the phone does offer a lot of premium features. The S-Pen and the rear-view camera almost makes it worth it. However, if you one does not feel the need for the S-Pen, S8+ (Going for around 800$ now) provides a similar gamut of high-end features, obviously excluding the S-Pen and the extra rear-view camera.

I had my Samsung Note 2 for five years and was really happy with it, but it was time to upgrade, I really liked the features that the old phone had, but with the new technology it was time to up date, I really happy with the Note 8, especially with the camera and more storage space, the only thing that I miss is the driving mode feature on the note 2. I have added at hands free car kit to over come this issue. I would also like to thank the folks at the Peachtree City location for all their help.

I like this phone in general, but I miss my galaxy note 3. I do not like the curved edge screen, and I find myself missing the sunken in screen from my old phone. I don't like the improvements in the built in apps verses the galaxy note 3, but that is just a personal preference. The phone runs fast, the display is nice. Best feature of this phone is having two cameras. I love being able to take a picture while I am video taping. I do like being able to use the stylus to get work done.

I like the Note 8. Larger and heavier than I would have preferred, but the long battery life (seriously long), and great camera were perks I wanted. Still adjusting to having a stylus, and forget sometimes to try to use it more often. Def like the note writing options, and smooth response. It looks clean, and like I wrote with a pen right on my screen. Makes for some fun .gif features too. Cool phone. Most I've ever spent on a phone though. Price is the biggest downside.

The Samsung Note 8 is a great phone. I have had a few of the different models of the note. And I have really enjoyed all of them. This one however has beveled edges and I really dont like that. This is the ONLY reason I am not giving it a 5 star. And yes it is enough for me to drop it one star. If you are thinking about upgrading to the Note 8, I would wait till 9 comes out. Maybe they have gone back to the more flat screen instead of the beveled one.

Coming from Note 5, I liked how note 8 was able fo pack almost half inch more screen keeping overall small form factor. however, while curved display looks beautiful, Ofr me, it is wastage of precious screen. I like flat screen with very thin bazels like note 5. The camera on note is very good but i wish main camera could pack 16 or 20 megapixels, it helps when you look at details or zoom out image. overall a great phone with great features.

I purchased this phone as a result of my old Note3 being on it's final trip. I am still learning how to use all the features. The PROS. It's fast, I can run all my apps. It has enough memory to do what I need at the moment. The screen is sharp and there is plenty of room to occasionally use the split screen option. Love the pen. CONS :there are still a lot of apps that come with this phone that I don't want or even an explanation of what will they do for me.

I had the 7. Thankfully the recall went global and Verizon had to accept it back in any condition. A pocket drop shattered it the night before turn in. I went for an unlocked 8 just as 9 was being released. After reading the reviews , the biggest advancement was in the pen. Not worth the extra 100's for me. Like my 8. Big screen. Very satisfied. Will upgrade when there is a significant advancement

This is a good overall phone upgraded camera from the 7 good screen size and screen quality... but what doesn't make this phone great is how sensitive the screen is... don't drop this phone or even buy ta case that is too snug the lcd will crack ... need insurance coverage if you buying this phone but this holdd true for all the Samsung phones from the 7 edge and up ...

Bought this for my wife, since she needed a new phone, and she hasn't been disappointed, except with the Live Messaging feature, which she was hoping to use to send me handwritten notes/drawings on my Samsung S7 Edge. No go...the feature ONLY works between Note 8 phones. and of course, she doesn't know anyone else with the same phone.

the note 8 does some great stuff over the note 5 and the note 7. Great for anyone really looking to be productive with their device with the pen. I think my favorite feature is if you buy the Samsung DeX, you can get the "full feature" experience of a samsung smartphone. It's a good take on Android with all of its hardware design features compared to the google.

    Purchased as unlocked for Sprint

I love my phone. The only thing I would do differently is to have it unlocked after I was a Sprint member. If you unlock it before the phone is activated then you will not be able to receive all of the Sprint applications. This was disappointing to me, especially because I'm not able to use the Sprint voicemail.
