I have always enjoyed the Note series phones and was crushed when I had to give my Note 7 up. Thankfully, the Note 9 addresses almost all the issues: 1) The RAM and Removable Storage are improved. 2) Video recording improved (smoother). 3) The fingerprint sensor is FINALLY where it should be and feels right with easy access when grabbing the phone for use. 4) Perfect size for larger hands (my glove size is usually XL). The Note 9 marries these with longstanding Pros: 1) Camera is away from the corners where my big fingers don't get in the shot (which is my biggest issue with other phones). That, for me, is a BIG DEAL. 2) And I love, love, love the SPen and use it for important stuff. Not all the time, but when I do use it, you can bet I am glad to have it and think it is such an important part of the phone that I can't believe others don't do this. 3) No notch, hole punch or cut-out for the selfie camera (which would be an obstruction for sketching, drawing, painting and creativity). There are still cons, but they aren't as the cons in other phones: 1) The curved edge surface is not a reliable surface, it's more of an obstacle for drawing and sketching, which I love to do on it. 2) The Bixby button is pretty much useless, I do not like or use assistants. Unfortunately, I understand that it cannot be remapped to be useful for some other functionality, which is lame. I have submitted this review before, and that one was even more detailed, it was deleted probably because I did a lot of comparisons on other brands and models. So, suffice it to say that I think this is still the very best phone available under all brands, models and versions. Do get a scratch protective film for the display, do get a protective case that will meet your needs, it is worth it. I also had a Samsung fast wireless charger from my old Note 7 that works well.

    Beautiful photos and phone calls!

    Posted .

I upgraded from a galaxy S4, so the jump in technology was a pretty big one from my perspective! The camera was my main reason for buying this, and it does not disappoint! The Youtube videos extolling the virtues of the camera capabilities are better at describing the color and clarity than I can attempt to do here. The Best Buy sales associate was able to transfer everything from my old S4 right to the Note 9 with no bugs; I did have to re-start my Google voice number, but that was easy as receiving a text and following a prompt, My biggest surprise was the quality of the phone calls- it sounds like the person is right in the room with me, and the noise cancelling is very subtle, yet effective. I have rather large hands, so the size of the phone is a great "fit" for me. I'm very happy with this phone, and look forward to many years of great picture-taking and clear phone calls! (I don't even mind the ubiquitous robo-sales calls now!)

My first Note and I love it

I'll keep it short and simple. I'm a tech head and I've been on team android since the beginning ( I had the first android smartphone - T-mobile G1). I got with Samsung beginning with the S3. I upgraded from the S7 Edge and I love this phone. Battery lasts me about a day and a half on moderate use, I love the S Pen and the unique features it has. The display is gorgeous and the camera is amazing. If you are contemplating on getting this phone, don't. JUST GET IT. You won't be disappointed.

Samsung did it again with another amazing Note. I just can get over the camera, screen, battery life and s pen! Yes I use it and works the best yet. I love using to take quick Notes and they are saved seemingly to S note. Sadly had to turn in my note 7, but this one sure is a step up.

Very pleased with my new Galaxy Note 9 workhorse

    |
    Posted .

After having my Galaxy Note 4 for almost 4 years, it was starting to slow down, and rather than wipe it and start fresh, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I skipped the Note 5, 7 and 8 and am very pleased with my Note 9. The screen is quite large but also quite wonderful. The colors are excellent and the quality is superb. The CPU is much faster than my Note 4 and I have really enjoyed using it for a number of tasks ranging from email, to Youtube, to Facebook, to watching movies, reading PDF attachments and listening to audio books. Splitting the screen and having two windows running is similar to my dual monitor arrangement at home. The Note 9 comes with 128 GB of internal memory and 6 GB of RAM. I added a 128 GB Micro SD card so 256 GB is a lot of room to hold a ton of music, books, movies, pictures, etc. I haven't done a lot with the camera yet but vacation is coming up shortly and it will get used. From what I have seen, the camera with the dual aperture lenses makes for wonderful daylight or low light pictures. I do make use of the S Pen pretty often and find it helpful. The 4000 MA battery frequently lasts almost two full days, a very pleasant surprise. I am delighted and highly recommend it. You will be amazed.

    Absolutely blown away

    Posted .

Having had my Iphone 6 for almost five years, I knew it was about time to purchase a new phone. I had been doing research on the new lines of phones that had come out recently, and had my eye on both the Iphone XR and the Samsung Note 9. After scouring reviews on multiple websites, I decided to stop browsing and just go into the store and try them out for myself. As an Iphone user for much of my life, I started out in the Apple section and tried out the newest models. The navigation and apps were already known to me and part of me wanted to just go with an Iphone because it would be less of a hassle to transfer things from my old phone. I was also worried about having to learn the ropes all over again on a completely new operating system, which again further pushed me toward settling for an Iphone. This all changed as soon as I had the Samsung Note 9 in my hand. The phone is gorgeous, and the screen plus camera quality were breathtaking. As I played around with the pre-loaded apps and the stylus, I noticed that the price was discounted due to the newer Samsung phones that had just come out. This was a deal that I couldn't turn down. The amount of phone you get for the price you get it at is unbeatable. The phone is incredibly fast and customizable to a point that the Iphone could never match. Sure, there was a learning curve on how to maneuver around the phone and learn the new apps and such, but it is completely worth it. I find new features and customizable options in this phone almost everyday and it continually makes it a better experience overall when compared to the Iphone. The battery life is incredible. After using it almost nonstop for the first two days, I was still left with 40% battery, which absolutely blew my mind. The stylus is great for quickly jotting down notes and even allows you to snap pictures from your phone without touching the screen. Overall, I am incredibly satisfied with my purchase and am so glad that I made the decision to switch to the Note series. If you are in any way thinking of switching to the Note 9 from an Iphone, I would highly advise you to do so, you won't be disappointed!

    Best Phone I've EVER owned

    Posted .

I'm a huge fan of the note line-up. I had a galaxy note 5 and then a note 8. I just traded in my note 8 for this new note 9 and I couldn't be happier with my upgrade. Compared to the note 8, the note 9 has a slightly bigger screen and seems less curved at the edges, which i think is an improvement. The processor is snappier and there is absolutely no lag. I love the new features on the S-pen. For those who do not know, the S-pen now has a separate bluetooth connection (which does not interfere with the standard bluetooth connector). This bluetooth connection allows you to use the pen as a remote control for the phone. Press the button on the pen to take photos, or advance through pictures in your gallery. There are many possible uses you can customize. Also the S-pen is powered by a supercapacitor. Its a new fancy kind of small battery. It charges from 0-100% in 30-40 seconds and the charge will last about 40 minutes when the pen is outside of the phone. All you have to do is put the pen back into the phone to charge it. I'm getting about 48 hours of battery life with typical usage (not playing games). Speaking of games, I loaded Fortnite onto the phone and it plays flawlessly with no lag or stutter. Its unbelievable. I've yet to see this phone slow down, stutter, or have difficulty with any of the tasks i throw at it. The screen is gorgeous. I mean gorgeous. Its an absolutely pleasure to look at photos or watch a movie on this thing. The camera is the best I've ever seen in a phone, The new improvements, particularly in low-light shots are amazing. Seriously people. Go buy this phone. You won't regret it.

Water Detected in Power Port Warning

Bought the Note 9 tonight. Before even setting it up, I plugged it in to charge and immediately got a warning message that water was detected in the power port. A little Googling show this is a known issue with work arounds but no solutions.

    Better than expected

I've been using iPhone since it came out, 10 years ago. I enjoy it but feel it's somewhat stagnated with every new edition just getting slightly bigger. I'm in real estate & find the S-Pen very helpful for signing documents, taking quick notes when on the phone or talking with someone, taking pictures and making notations on them for inspectors and home owners among many other things. Split screen to receive emails and use the calculator below it without having to switch back between apps is amazingly useful. Scheduling text messages in advance to clients is very helpful. Taking photos and documents from the phone to my iMac is easy via AirDroid, (I don't see where Dex will work with an iMac, I may be wrong and SideSync doesn't seem available) & I can type text messages on the iMac. The things I miss: iMessage. That's it. I can video chat via Facebook so FaceTime isn't missed but iMessage is better than text messages if you want to send a video, E-mail can be used or I have found Samsung link sharing to be very helpful. I do like iPhone, but I am preferring the Samsung. Battery life and wireless charging is fantastic!
