Went in to buy an oura ring and left with the galaxy ring, performs as expected, comfortable and stylish

I had 2 generations of Oura ring over 3 years till I lost it. Decided to give a chance to Samsung to avoid subscription. A day after BestBuy return window, the ring is dead, not charging anymore. Contacted samsung for a warranty "support". They asked me if i plugged charger to the wall, if I put ring on charger, if I have power at home, and much more dementia troubleshooting steps, and finally they offered me to mail in my ring for 2 weeks period so technician will repair unrepairable sealed one time use device. This is not reliable product that cost $399. Almost positive that same Temu ring for $39.99 will outperform this garbage.

The ring's color began to fade after three weeks of use, concerning me about its long-term appearance. Additionally, the battery life looks like short of the advertised seven days, particularly for individuals who engage in physical activity or frequent movement.

Nice fit and technology and features are on point with the Samsung galaxy watch.

1st and foremost, I would like to say to some people that the ring is NOT a watch replacement but more of a companion to it. They work together in an ecosystem to better your daily life with tracking and suggestions on how to improve. While I do like my ring, some tracking features are excellent while some leave much to be desired. Getting the perfect ring for you is a process. It is HIGHLY recommended you use their sizing kit to find the best match for your finger instead of the industry standard of ring sizing. This is because the tracking sensors will make it a little tighter on the finger if you do not size properly. I wore a mock size 10 and 11 on 2 hands before settling on 10 and it was perfect. The box itself is nice and simplistic. Inside is the beautiful clear case/charger (wireless compatible), Galaxy Ring itself, a USB C cable and some literature. Setup was a breeze since I am already part of the Samsung/Galaxy ecosystem. Samsung Wearable app found the ring and paired it instantly. Along side the app is another that is for your tracking and wellness called Health. While wearing the ring, I used the app to enter my vitals as in weight and height. The app did the rest as in heartrate, stress lvls etc. Now it is important to note that you should give the ring at least a week before thinking all your numbers are crazy high or low so that it gets to know you and your routine better. I love the sleep and water tracking the most. Stress tracking I just cannot understand for the life of me. It is always saying I have HIGH stress when I know I don't. For example I could be laying on the couch super comfy, AC running while watching a great movie and the entire time my ring says my stress lvls are HIGH and I should try breathing techniques....what?? Also look at the pics as when I manually test for stress, I am green and low, but the tracker will record and log that I am highly stressed. Samsung needs to fix this ASAP. Other than that, my numbers started to settle for sleep (I am slightly low because I have a habit of sleeping at 2am and waking up at 7am), heartrate and blood oxygen are good. My energy score is showing areas for improvement and recommends what I should do to improve. Battery life is excellent. Lasts about a full week before needing to charge. Once in the charger, 30 mins provided more than half the juice to 100 and fully charged takes about 50 minutes. Another thing to consider is price to performance ratio. I know the ring market is fairly new and in it's infancy but since the Ring only tracks via app and does not give any other benefits like NFC or any type of display, it's hard to justify a $400 price tag with what you are getting. Sure quality is amazing. The Galaxy Ring itself is solidly built and feels premium. Lightweight yet strong enough to withstand the elements. Never had an issue with daily showers, hand washings, sweating and normal everyday behavior effecting it at all. As Samsung's first attempt in the ring market, there were a lot of things done right and wrong. I hope in the future more QoL benefits are put into the rings as I do like mine a lot.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is a great addition to the Samsung lineup. It has an attractive design, cool health tracking features, and long battery life. As someone who has used several competitor smart rings over the years, I am really excited to see Samsung enter the smart ring space. • Packaging – The ring comes in an appropriately sized box which is easy to open and without excessive packaging. Included is the ring, charging cradle, charging cord, and quick start guide. • Design – The ring comes in 3 different colors: titanium silver, titanium gold, and titanium black. I received the titanium black and it looks fantastic with a matte finish. My only concern is how well the finish will hold up with long-term usage during weightlifting and outdoor activities like hiking/rock climbing. It is only 2.6 mm thick and is quite lightweight, weighing only 2.3 grams. This is very close to the thickness of my wedding band and surprisingly “much” lighter which is pretty amazing given the several sensors and battery that are built into the ring. In the next iteration, I would like to see some online only Samsung exclusive colors like they do with their phones as well as the option to have it engraved. • Charger and battery life – The charging cradle is significantly ahead of the competition. It has a modern premium design with a LED light that lets you know how far along the ring is in its charging cycle. One of my favorite things about the charging cradle is that it can be completely closed over the ring during charging and does not need to be connected to an outlet. This allows for convenient on the go charging where I can put the ring in the charger and throw it in my backpack without having to worry about losing it. It takes about 80 minutes to fully charge the ring with the ring battery reportedly lasting up to 7 days. My ring came fully charged and lasted about 6 days before needing to be put in the charging cradle; although, it still had remaining battery left and likely would have made it close to another day before completely running out of battery. Despite the charging cradle being 361 mAh, it only has enough battery to fully charge the ring one time bringing the total usage time up to 14 days before needing to plug the cradle into an outlet. Overall, for Samsung’s first attempt at a smart ring I am impressed with its battery life. • Fit – Request a ring sizing kit (currently free on the Samsung store website) or be fitted in select stores (my local Best Buy had a full sizing kit available on display). Samsung recommends wearing the device on the index finger for optimal sensor performance and accuracy, but I opted for my ring finger as I found it to be more comfortable. The sizing kit sample ring size matched the size of my wedding band, so I felt confident going ahead and ordering the ring immediately instead of wearing it for the recommended 24 hours. Samsung does specifically state that their sizing differs from regular ring sizes, but I didn’t find that to be the case. When I put on the actual ring, it fits perfectly and is comfortable. It is snug enough to stay on but not too tight that I can’t get it off. It is important to note that the ring has a mark on it for which side should face the palm of your hand for the most accurate sensor readings. • App/Data – The ring easily paired with my Samsung Z Fold 6 and showed up in the Samsung Health/Wearable apps. It tracks various health data and provides daily insights such as energy score, sleep score, and heart rate. This information can be found in the health app. For example, my most recent sleep time average was reported as excellent. If I want additional information regarding this insight I can click on the arrow and it will take me to a new page within the app with more in-depth information. I have had a few erroneous readings like a heart rate of 210 in the middle of the night but overall the data has been consistent with other fitness devices I use. • Subscription – THERE IS NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION WHICH IS A HUGE SELLING POINT! While this ring may be slightly more expensive than several of its competitors, there is no ongoing monthly fee to be able to see/access your own data. I would never consider purchasing a ring that required me to pay to access my own data so A+ to Samsung for not locking features behind a paywall. I think Samsung did a great job designing its first smart ring. I have enjoyed using it and find the health information/insights it provides to be beneficial in my fitness and overall health goals. Recommend!

First things first…FITMENT. The Galaxy Ring is concave in design and the edges to me feel flat. There might be a slight bevel to it, but that may just be because of it being a polymer material. My wedding band is a Comfort Fit, so that and a Domed Fit are more my style. So I would have preferred one of those designs over the Concave Flat. I’m sure trying to fit the tech inside a very small space is quite tricky so the decrease in the side volume of a dome would make the ring thicker overall? Actually wearing it doesn’t cause discomfort, sizing will be key here. In the documentation I received with the sizing kit, no where did it say it must be worn on the pointer finger, but the illustrations in the guide showed it being worn on the pointer finger. Ultimately I chose to wear it on my left hand in place of my wedding band, as that hasn’t fit in the last 10 years anyway (something no one tells you when you marry at a young age!). Also, the ring size kit only goes up to 13. My pointer fingers on either hand could fit the 13, but a 13.5 would be nicer, however, even in that scenario it feels foreign to have a ring on that finger; at least now that I am no longer a teenager! Both ring fingers for me sized at a 10. The left hand the 10 requires only a minimal shift/rock to slide it off the finger, on the right hand however a 10.5 would have been better as it sticks more. The 11 was just a bit too big for the left hand and the right hand it did fit a bit better than the 10, but then my fingers felt like they were being crushed together (this is where the comfort/dome fit would be better). It only took a couple days to adjust to the band design. It’s summer now, so it will be interesting to see how it fairs in the cooler months when it isn’t so humid. Samsung could have a lot of fun in the advertising and marketing department for this device being used in place of a traditional wedding ring! Does it actually do what it is designed to do? YES! I have worn a Galaxy Smartwatch for quite a few years. I went back to wearing a watch just for the time, but I really wanted the ability to interact with messages and not being accessing my phone all the time. I really like that about a Smartwatch. The step counter and activity logger has been as accurate as my Galaxy Watch 4. There is always a margin of error in these devices. I have been impressed with the sleep tracking. I never wear my watch to bed as it is too bulky and causes my wrist to swell. The ring doesn’t have that effect on my finger and tracks my sleeping hours quite well. If I have laid in bed watching tv, it doesn’t start to count that on the sleep timer, so there is a bit of untruth. And the same if I read in bed in the morning before actually getting up and moving around. Battery Life After 5 full days of use it used 65% battery, so 35% remaining. I didn’t have auto-detect for workouts (running/walking) turned on and I didn’t have Blood Oxygen levels while sleeping turned on. Samsung states the 11 and under sizes get 6 days battery life and the 12/13 get 7 days. With all features turned on I would say that should be pretty accurate. Having the ones I had turned off shows you can squeeze out a few more days of use, so an increase of around 50% of estimated battery life. Charging is supposed to take 80 minutes from 0-100, so I can only assume those to be true as I have not needed to charge it this first week of use, besides unboxing and starting at 100%. I think this device is definitely going to be niche as a watch can do more and because of ring size limitations, but if you are not a watch person and really want to be able to track your activity better there it can definitely provide that.

The accuracy of the measurements is questionable and should not be relied upon as an indicator of sleep apnea. It may be suitable for tracking activities such as running or walking. The Garmin watch provides more accurate measurements and the next version of this device may offer improved accuracy and the ability to be worn on any finger.

Couldn't even survive one 40 minute workout. Its completely scratched up and looks terrible now. I expected it to look like this eventually but not after one short lift. Also, the fitness metrics are very inaccurate. Was barely active one day and the app showed i had 9ver 10,000 steps and burnt 2,000 calories. Pretty disappointed in this.

I got this ring as an addition to my Samsung ecosystem (phone and watch). I wanted something that I could wear while sleeping. I don't wear my watch to bed. It's just too bulky. First things first. Get the Galaxy Ring Sizing Kit to find your perfect size. Something that I did not do that you should is that when you find a size that works, wear the sizing ring for a while doing your normal activities. I only wore it for about 10 minutes to get my size. What I didn't take into account is how much my fingers swell while I'm working. Out of the box, the ring is in a clear charging case. It's sturdy and comes with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. The case is also compatible for wireless charging. Syncing the ring to the Wear app is simple. Just open the app on your phone and open the charging case and your phone will find and pair the ring. Pros: Battery life. The battery life on the Galaxy ring is incredible. I got five and a half days out of the initial charge. I decided to charge it when the battery level got to 39% so I wouldn't take a chance of it dying while I was at work. Health tracking. When wearing the ring consistently it gives you a daily energy score. This score is based on several factors. Average sleep time, bed/wake time consistency, sleeping heart rate, sleeping skin temperature, etc. Under the sleep tab you can find how long you slept, physical recovery, sleep cycles, etc. It tracks the different levels of sleep. Awake time, REM sleep, light sleep and deep sleep and gives you a graph of each type. It also tracks your blood oxygen level during sleep. It also tracks and records your snoring. The first night it showed that I snored for 31 minutes. The next night it said that I snored for 7 minutes. Although, I will say that my wife said that it must have missed some because according to her, I snored much longer than that. So maybe take that with a grain of salt. It also has a find my ring feature. There are two green and one red lights on the sensors. They are of course tiny, but using the find my ring feature the red and green lights flash in an alternating pattern. You would need to have a completely dark room and have the lights facing you to notice them. Another feature of the lights is that they are a (limited) battery level indicator. They can't tell you exactly what the battery level is, but if you take the ring off and the green lights flash you have more than 15% battery left. If the red light flashes the battery level is below 15%. The sensors must be positioned on the bottom of your finger to work properly. There is a little ridge on the outside of the ring to indicate where the sensors are. They are not noticeable when wearing the ring. Durability. I make hydraulic hoses and sell adapters. All day long I'm working with metal. I have intentionally been extremely rough with this ring. While I do wear nitrile gloves when making hoses, I have to put a lot of force on some fittings to get them onto the hoses. I have had 1,000s of metal fittings and adapters banging against the ring day after day. I have yet to see a single scratch or blemish on the ring. The only thing I could do to be harder on this ring is hit it with a hammer. I've seen that other people are saying that it scratches easily. I can't imagine what they are doing to get that to happen. It may be different colors that do not hold up so well. For me, the black has been great. Cons. There aren't many, and my situation may be unique because of what I do, but this ring can hurt. I initially sized the ring (13) to wear on my index finger of my right (dominate) hand. However, after a couple of hours at work my fingers swelled so much that I couldn't get it off. I had to run my hand under cold water to get the swelling to go down and get it off. I have since switched to wearing it on my middle finger. The fit is much better. I've been wearing a silicone wedding band for years. Being silicone, it is soft and flexible, I don't notice that I'm wearing it. With this ring, if I'm not working I don't notice it. However, at work I feel it all day long. When I'm squeezing something tight and my fingers are pinched together, I feel the ring in my adjacent fingers. It gets to the point to where it's quite painful and the points where the ring pushes against the other fingers stays sore. As I said, that is probably unique to the type of work that I do, but it's something to think about if you do something similar, like a mechanic who is holding wrenches all day. I know that it has to be a solid ring due to what's inside it, but it's making me second guess wearing it all of the time. I might just resort to wearing it when I sleep and on the weekends. With that said, I do recommend it if you're already in the Samsung ecosystem. It has a lot of great features and for most people, they will never experience the cons that I feel with it.

TLDR: Samsung has introduced a formidable competitor in the smart ring space; one of the great distinguishing features is that there is no subscription required to utilize all the sensor features of the ring. Using an Android phone app (no compatibility with iphones) the user has a multitude of wellness tracker that measures activity, sleep and other health measurements. The app records many useful data points for the user. The app offers up routines, stories and other health related information. Battery charge is touted as lasting a full week to 9 days; it is fully waterproof for use while swimming, hot tubbing and rainy bike riding. Available in silver, black or gold titanium metal and in sizes from 5 -13. Samsung has a ring sizing device that is used first before ordering the actual ring. Samsung’s sizing kit allows the buyer to select the correct size for their intended finger. It is advantageous to use the sizing kit first to avoid having a ring that is too large and prone to being lost or having to return a too small ring which wont fit either the index, middle or ring fingers. I got the titanium black metal version in size 11. It is available in ring sizes five through 13 and weighs about 3 grams. Notably the larger sizes have slightly bigger batteries which might give longer charge life. Samsung supplies a transparent, glowing clear plastic block charging case for recharging the ring when away from an AC outlet, similar to those used for tiny wireless earphones. The charging block uses a supplied USB-C cable that plugs into any USB-C 5 volt charger. The ring charges first and then the block. Titanium is a durable metal and should be resistant to most scratches for regular use. Samsung Health App: A Sleep Score is part of the health app, which grades the quality of nighttime sleep times on factors such as length, restfulness, physical and mental recovery and your sleep cycles. Energy Score is another reported factor. It tries to analyze your prior day activity mixed with sleep indicators to suggest how active a user could expect to be for the current day. It includes a Step Counter which keeps track of all walking and total minutes of walking and approximate calories burned. It includes a Running time tracker. A Workout History will summarize the latest sessions. It shows heart Beats Per Minute as well as the BPM range. It also shows calories burned since we input our age, sex and weight. It has a finding function in that by tapping a app control, the red and green lights (the sensors) inside the ring flash alternately at brightest levels. This is obviouslymore useful if lost indoors than if it is lost outside in the sunshine. When setting up the health app the user needs to tag their 3 favorite exercise activities. I chose Lap Swimming, Weight Machines, and Indoor Biking since I am a regular gym member where those 3 activities are always available. (I would have liked to also include Hiking, Treadmill and Elliptical trainer but only 3 can be chosen. Maybe later updates will allow that) I feel this competitor to Oura is very formidable and will povid eusers a great health advantage if the readings are followed and the user adjusts their sleep, their activity and thor caloric intake to obtain better results there fore improving their health in the process. I expect that as the app is improved, more function could be added using the same sensors in the ring. The app also has a Fitness section which has many videos demonstrating exercise. If a user takes them to heart and participates one can see improvements in personal health. The app also has a Together section where, using your phone number, it allows you to contact other friends to invite them to fitness challenges.

purchased this one as a refurb, there was a battery issue. however, when i got one with a normal battery life (about 4-5 days a charge) it was great. feels super light and sturdy. also looks more like a regular ring than many of the others. i hated to always have my watch to track health stuff but even without my phone near it does a good job of steps and activity. oh, also, only take 1 hour to charge and case holds about 2.5 charges.

As someone who owns and likes their phone and also has a nice analog watch that I don't want to replace with another screen... the Galaxy Ring has been a really great way to not miss out on the health tracking party. Even better, it's really only meant for that very thing. You put it on your finger, pair it with your phone, and basically forget that it's there. It's not vying for your attention or trying to distract you from what you're doing. It's just a ring! If you want something more, then this is not the device for you. But if this sounds like you, then Samsung has made a pretty compelling option here. For starters, it's comfortable to wear. Yes, it's a good bit chunkier than your average wedding ring, but it's light and it stays in place. I like the look of the black finish and it doesn't tend to get completely smudged with fingerprints because once again it's not something you're going to pawing and fiddling with all day long. Speaking of, I'm getting five full days of battery life. Charging is fast and done in the snazzy case, which supports both wireless charging or USB-C. Bluetooth pairing is simple and consistent. So what's it like to use? This is where the Samsung Health app comes in for all your data tracking. It'll ask you to opt in for collecting the metrics, but if you don't want to do that then you probably aren't buying one of these in the first place. Step tracking is as accurate as my counting was over a short distance. It was off a little initially for whatever reason (probably placement), but that seems to have only been a temporary hiccup. Sleep tracking has been pretty interesting. Measures your skin temp, sleep cycle, etc. and has also been pretty close to what I expect. There was a night where there was about a 20 minute discrepancy in my total sleep, but so far that has only happened once. Furthermore, there's a coaching feature where it will make suggestions for better sleep. It tracks your sleep for a week before making the suggestions, too. It also measures sleeping blood oxygenation and... well, I have no other way of knowing what this should be so will assume it's giving me at least a good ballpark number. Heart rate seems right on the money, while the "Stress" measurement is the one area where I can't quite pin down how it's computing things. There are times when I'm not feeling any stress at all and it tells me I am. Ha! Maybe it knows me better than I know myself? I don't know. Hopefully this will be refined as time goes on. There is also an automatic workout detection, which has picked up on walking and basic fitness exercising. There's an overall Energy Score, too, which uses all of the metrics and does some magic to estimate how your body is coping with all those activities, workouts, and sleep habits. Again, it's one of those things that I think will be more useful to me over time as it collects more data and I can see trends from month to month. So overall I'm enjoying having this and one again will reiterate that it's a nice option for those of us with analog watches. One little thing I have to get used to: drying my finger better after washing my hands. Unlike the wedding ring I notice this guy stays wet longer, or just traps a bit more water under it than I'm used to. Also, just wearing a ring on my index finger is a bit of a change, but one I'm quickly adjusting to. And last but not least, I'll point out that Samsung's health app could use a little more polish here and there. It's nice having links to workout videos, yes, but get the basics right and make sure the text is properly formatted and legible please. You can see an example in one of my photos. Minor quibble though for a pretty cool product. Glad to see some competition happening in this category at last.

My goal when buying this ring was to be able to keep track of things that I enjoy knowing (like HR, activity, sleep time), but to not have to always be wearing a big ugly watch to do so, and this ring fits that goal well. I like this ring quite a bit - it's fairly comfortable, charges pretty quickly (especially when the case stays plugged in, although I know the case holds a charge as well), relatively inconspicuous (vs a watch). It is kind of ugly, though, and thick enough to be irritating while doing some tasks... and sometimes washing hands.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is a new wearable device that combines the best features of a smartwatch and a fitness tracker into a sleek, stylish package that fits right on your finger. Pretty cool, right? Well, let’s get into then! Design and Fit The Galaxy Ring is made with a titanium frame that is lightweight and scratch-resistant from my experience. First, you’ll want to get the sizing kit in order to find the right fit for your finger before purchasing the ring. Once you find the right size, you’ll be able to pick from a couple of colors. I ended up with the Titanium Black color, and it’s really beautiful. The fit and finish of the ring is impeccable, and would suitably match almost anyone’s style. The watch comes with a classy, clear charging case that allows you to charge the ring a second time before itself needing a recharge. This case also acts as a way to protect your ring when you’re not wearing it. Features and Software The Galaxy Ring has 3 sensors: An optical bio-signal sensor that tracks your heart health A skin temperature sensor that tracks your skin temperature while you sleep An accelerometer that tracks your walking and running automatically These sensors all work together to provide you with health data that rivals most smartwatches on the market. Sure, you’re not going to get ECG capability with the watch, but most of the features you want from a fitness tracker are all there without the bulk of one. To configure the Galaxy Ring and it’s features, you’ll have to download the Galaxy Wearables app on your phone. In this case, I was using a Samsung Flip 4 and the configuration went well. The ring paired with the app easily and updated itself without any issue. From there you’ll want to set up gestures, although these will not work if you have gestures enabled on another wearable, like a Samsung Watch. The gestures will allow you to do certain functions, like take a picture, by just pinching your fingers. This is a super cool feature and I like it a lot. Of course, all your health data will sync up to your Samsung Health app and will be organized just like before, so that’s a huge plus. You can also wear both a watch and a ring, as they’ll work in unison with one another without any issues. Performance/Battery Life The Galaxy Ring's performance so far has been excellent. The heart rate monitor seems accurate, the pedometer is reliable, and the sleep tracker provides enough insights into my sleep patterns that wearing a watch while I sleep doesn’t seem necessary any longer. Battery life has been good, with about 5–6 days before needing a charge. Charging the ring is as easy as placing it back in the docking case, which can charge the unit and let you go up to 14 days without needing a power outlet. This is great for vacations or trips where you might not be near an outlet all the time. Overall Impression The Samsung Galaxy Ring is an incredible piece of tech for those already in the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem and are looking for a watch alternative to take care of health tracking. It’s also hard to recommend with so many cheaper smartwatches that are capable of doing a lot more. If you’re tired of wearing a watch and would rather opt for a more discrete and minimalist ring to monitor your health; then this is one of the best products out there, but only if you already own a Samsung phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is very impressive from its look to its functionality. My ring is a titanium matte black ring that is classy looking. The smooth titanium makes the ring very comfortable. The watch comes in a very attractive charging case utilizing a usb connection. You can charge the case with or without the ring inside. If charging case only then simply put ring in charging case for full charge. Or charge them both at once. The ring comes with a charging cable. Connecting the ring to my phone was flawless and within a minute my ring was paired, connected and functional. The ring pairs with Samsung Health and has its dashboard on the Samsung Wear app. On the Wear dashboard you will find the ring's battery status along with a host of diagnostic data. Sleep functions as well as heart rate, energy tracking are all being diagnostically tracked as you go about your day. I like all of these health tracking features. Heart rate can be tracked and alerts can be set. It doesn't detect irregular heart rate, which is unfortunate. The sleep function, is my favorite, it has amazing data that you can drill down into. Do you snore? Well the ring will tell you and it will record snipets of snoring episodes for your review. A complete Energy Score is calculated from a series of categories that you can evaluate. All of this and more is coordinated within the Wear app and linked from that to the Samsung Health app. Amazing features include the ability to determine menstrual cycle based on body temperature. There is a host of wellness information available to you. The good news is that none of this data is tied to a subscription. My hope is that it stays that way. Samsung should lead the way and not tie this data to a subsciption, ever. You can shower with ring and wash your hands as well. They say you can take it under water to specified depths too. There is a find feature in which the ring's data monitoring lights activate so you can find it. The instructions say it has some 'gesture functions', but they are tied to certain phone operating systems. UI 6.1.1 My phone is not capable. Hopefully Samsung makes that more widely available. I really like the ring and I recommend it. It should be one part of wearable health tracking devices you use to give you a complete health review.

Samsung’s Galaxy Ring is truly a technological marvel! The device fits in first and foremost as an unassuming and fashionable piece of jewelry to most but its potential health benefits based on the data it provides are tremendous and enlightening in my opinion. • As packaged: • Galaxy Ring • Galaxy Ring Charge Case • USB-C Cable • Quick Start Guide The Galaxy Ring is available in three distinctive colors depending on your preference: Titanium Silver, Titanium Gold and Titanium Black. Yes, they are all made of Titanium for added durability. The ring design has a slight depression/groove on the outside. There is a raised mark at the “bottom” of the ring to help the user ensure the right orientation for optimal sensor performance. Samsung recommends this mark aligning with the palm of your hand to basically get the sensors to align with the underside of your finger. The interior of the ring appears to have some durable and clear material where the sensors are located, making them visible. The ring is only about 2.6mm thick and 7mm wide. It is available in nine sizes from US 5 to US 13. Please note these sizes do vary from traditional ring sizes and as such the Galaxy Ring Sizing Kit is highly recommended before ordering your ring. With the different ring sizes comes different weights (2.3g – 3.2g.) Per Samsung, ring sizes 5 through 11 last up to 6 days on a single charge while 12 through 13 go up an extra day to 7 days on a single charge. My Titanium Black ring is a size 12 and did last about a week on a single charge with typical use. The Galaxy Ring case is also capable of delivering about 1.6 charges should you be on the go without access to a charger. It is fast charging and I have observed a charge from about 38% to 82% in about 30 minutes. With my setup, I should in theory be able to go for about two and half weeks with a fully charged ring and a case. The case has a USB-C port and ships with a USB-C cable. As an added benefit, it is also capable of wireless charging so should your smartphone be capable of wireless power share, you may have more options to charge your Galaxy Ring on the go. The charging case is clear and shows the Galaxy Ring. When opened with the Galaxy Ring inside, a circular white LED will indicate the charge case and the Galaxy Ring battery levels in that order. Without a ring inside, the charge case will only display its battery level. The Galaxy Ring is also capable of providing a status on its own albeit the user can only be informed if the battery level is below 15% (flashing red) or above 15% (flashing green) upon removal from the finger. You may also use the Galaxy Wearable app to check your Galaxy Ring’s battery level. Even close to the upper weight threshold, my Galaxy Ring is very light. This is very beneficial, in my opinion, to folks like me who typically abstain from jewelry. It is very easy to forget you have it on during the day and especially at night for its sleep tracking abilities. Crammed in the Galaxy Ring are three main sensors: photoplethysmograph (PPG), accelerometer and skin temperature. The Galaxy Ring is able to provide heart rate, blood oxygen levels, measure steps and track skin temperature changes with these sensors. When wearing both a Samsung smartwatch and the Galaxy Ring, the ring will track only heart rate and sleep data. While wearing a Samsung smartwatch, on demand heart rate measurements are also deferred to the smartwatch. The Galaxy Wearable app automatically detects a Galaxy Ring inside the charge case once it is open to initially connect. The button in the charge case can also be pressed to force the ring and case into pairing. Once connected, the menu for the Galaxy Ring is pretty intuitive. There are three main options for your energy score, sleep and heart rate data. In summary, the energy score is a numerical prediction of your outlook for the day based on an assessment of sleeping patterns, previous day activity and sleeping heart rate data. It changes based on variations in the aforementioned factors. The sleep menu provides sleep data such as total sleep time, breakdown of the various sleep stages, blood oxygen, skin temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and snoring should you have snore detection enabled. The presence of an accelerometer allows steps to be tracked even without your watch or smartphone on you. Period prediction is another available feature. There is a Find my Ring feature to help locate a misplaced ring. The lights can be triggered to blink and its location on a map can also be seen, assuming you are within range. There are options to receive an alert should the ring be left and assign safe places that may not trigger these. The Galaxy Ring communicates via Bluetooth 5.4. The Galaxy Ring’s finish appears durable. I have yet to see any blemishes. I wear mine on my index finger primarily based on Samsung’s recommendation and have become aware of daily activities where the ring comes into contact with things. There are occasional clanks but it is holding up very well. The Galaxy Ring has an IP68 rating for water resistance meaning it can be submerged to a depth of about 1.5 meters (just under 5 feet) for about 30 minutes. Knowing this, I still catch myself trying to protect my ring from water and typically remove for showers but this is a personal preference. This first iteration of the Galaxy Ring is a very magnificent feat. Knowing Samsung’s history, the best is yet to come! It appears promising with regards to hardware and the potential for additional software updates to make it even smarter. It does not rewrite the script and seamlessly integrates into Samsung’s ecosystem in their effort to easily provide vital data. I totally recommend!
