I often catch flack from friends and family over using android but I have used Apple and Samsung is better for me by far. The durabilty and operating system never disappoint. My non android people are always commenting on my picture quality. I typically keep my phone until it's necessary to replace. This is only my third Samsung phone in twelve years. I'd say that's pretty good value for your money.
