Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the Galaxy S8+'s camera, praising its quality and performance. The battery life is also widely appreciated, with users commending its longevity. On the downside, Bixby, Samsung's virtual assistant, receives criticism for its lack of utility. The phone's fragility and susceptibility to breakage are also concerns for some users.

    stay away worst warranty ever

It is good if you buy a Samsung phone and it is not a defected phone. Otherwise, Samsung will have no exception for replacement. My phone has a vertical line dead pixel since day one, then I contact Samsung, after reset the phone, the line went away, then it came back but after 14 days and still within 30 days. Samsung didn't replace the phone and require me to send in for repair even I complained with www.bbb.org and escalated to customer relationship team. This will be the last Samsung I will buy and stay with Apple for better customer service and doesn't have to wait for weeks to get your phone fix. Stay away from Samsung... I have been using Samsung phones for years but S8+ is the last one due to poor warranty.

    Randomly Restarts, Terrible Warranty

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When I first got the phone it restarted randomly, intermittently, but it's been getting progressively worse and last night it restarted 3 times during a 10 minute phone call with my boss. I keep the phone up to date, the apps up to date, tried deleting all my apps, cleared the system cache, removed the SD card for a few days, and nothing has worked. It wasn't that big of an issue for the first 2 months, although I can't say how often it restarted because it does so infrequently and without any notification, but I noticed it restarting about once a week. I've had it 6 months now and sometimes it's great, other times I can't get directions without it restarting every 10 minutes, so now I make sure I know exactly where I'm going before I pull out of the driveway and I just listen to the radio, because this phone is so unreliable. It also still restarts randomly when it's just sitting there with the lock screen on, sometimes I'll pull it out of my pocket and it'll be rebooting, it's just a piece of junk. What's worse is it's out of Best Buy's warranty and Samsung's warranty is completely useless. After a long chat session with Samsung they gave me a packing slip that was only good for 2 days and told me the turnaround time could be up to a month for them to receive my phone, run diagnostics, and either fix it or send me a refurbished phone that hopefully had its kinks worked out (otherwise rinse, repeat), and that's only if they determine the phone is a factory defect. If they determine I was somehow responsible then I'd have to pay the full price for repairs and shipping, and where they draw the line at acceptable wear and tear is anyone's guess. Super convenient, right? The best solution I've found is that some Best Buy stores are Samsung Authorized Service Providers, so they can do the repairs in-house. The bad news is that these repair centers are only in like 10 states and most aren't in major cities, however, there's a huge concentration of stores in the Dallas area. Luckily I'm an airline pilot and I can fly for free, so I'm going to fly halfway across the country next week to get my phone fixed, but I realize that's not an option for most people. Hopefully the trip will be worth it. I can understand Best Buy or Samsung having such bad customer service if the phone was dropped, the screen was cracked, etc, but for a factory issue(s?) that didn't become apparent right away, you'd think they'd be better.

    Nice Size

Purchased everything imaginable with this phone 128 gig card, VR setup, fancy screen protector, etc. Size was perfect, VR was nice to watch at first then got tired of it (more for gamers), and setup was quick and easy. My only complaint where the intrusive Samsung apps that you cannot remove especially Bixby. I will now sell off and buy something else.

Screen Burn In Mitigates Other Great Features

    Posted .

Had the phone for 11 months. While I love the phone, the camera and all other aspects, after playing a solitare game quite a bit, I noticed I could see the game even when using other apps, especially if the background is white. Since it is still under the original one year Samsung, I just mailed the phone back to Samsung for a free repair. However, screen burn-in did not happen for years. I learned these new OLED screens on most high end phones are very susceptible to burn-in. I don't know how having a great screen for a short period of time is better than having a standard LED for the life of the phone.

    Battery charging issue

Bought in April when it was released, it is now almost died due to the battery issue not charging anymore even through cable or by not. Obviously, the S8+ manufacturer continues to make their customer paying their poor to very poor product with a substantial price and with customer poor service.

    Gorilla glass scratches easily

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I had this phone for 5 days and never put it in my pocket with keys or change. I was extremely careful with it and after only 5 days it had micro scratches all over the bottom of the screen. I called Samsung and they said to send it and and they will determine who was at fault and fix it. I told them I didn't want to because I knew they would just blame me. They assured me that wouldn't happen and they would take care of me. So i wiped everything off the phone and sent it in. After them having it 2 days and after I paid $800 for the phone they told me it was going to be $216 to fix the screen. This is the last Samsung product I ever buy. If you go on google you can find tons of other people with the same problem.

    Dead pixel screen issues

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The reason i am writing is that i returned this phone for dead pixels and got another one, but the new one also has screen issues, and white lines cross the screen and in the background! this store at Ridgmar location didnt accept to return and ask me to pay restocking fee for that junk phone! the manager or supervisor named Monica was so rude and disrespectful and didnt treat me well, she made me crazy to dead and refused to change and give me refund, i never had this awful experience at best buy, they need to teach their staff to know that non of the costumer would like to pay $ 900 for a junk phone and they are not the owner to scare lose their money! she made me sick and i got heartache and headache over night! i took the phone to the other best buy at lake worth and they return it and refund me the money, so sweet and respectful!

For unlocked S7, Samsung did quarterly update until March. Now they'll update monthly base for "unlocked" devices from April.

Beware Gear S3 owners, Samsung Pay will not work!

Love the phone, but one major flaw if you own a Gear S3. Samsung Pay will not work when the watch is synced with this unlocked phone variant. There is a software compatibility issue that Samsung has yet to resolve. This is not acceptable!

UNLOCKED DOES NOT WORK WITH GEAR VR

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

S8+ UNLOCKED plus GEAR VR. Plenty expensive but they do not work. As of June 6,2017 the Samsung server does not accept the model number of the phone and just gives NETWORK ERROR when trying to get the GEAR VR software downloaded. Fails for model SM-G955U1. Samsung must fix you cannot get anything from any customer support to help (but they will listen and make you try doing things that will not work). It is not the phone. It is Samsung.

    Warning. Defective Screen. Pink Line.

Samsung 8 are starting to replicate S7's "Pink Line" on the screen. Samsung is not doing anything about it or taking responsibility for this software defect. Please check forums before purchasing. It is really disappointing to spend that amount of money for a defective item.

Samsung will not update this phone. They abandoned the S7 unlocked and will do the same with the one. Search the internet about this. Good luck.
