Smaller then expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen size should be larger then others but since it's so tall vs 16:9 it smaller then other phones. Returned and got the S8 Plus. The phone itself is great

Sooo Amazing!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love, no LOVE my Samsung 8+ unlocked Coral Blue phone!! The outer shell is sleek and gorgeous to the touch. I saw the price on 7/21/17 and IMMEDIATELY bought it from my local Best Buy store as this price for an UNLOCKED phone is cheaper than any sold under a contract provider like Sprint, Verizon and etc. It can take ANY SIM CARD as long as your phone's MEID # is compatible to their standards. The camera is flawless, processing speed is amazingly swift and the memory is more than plenty so a micro SD card is not really necessary. What I love most about my phone in particular is that I own a limited edition color, battery power lasts a long time, I control what I want to have on my phone as far as apps...I don't have to battle with undesired bloat wares by provider contracted phones!! The transfer of contacts, apps, pics and etc is a smooth process with the Samsung Smart Switch app! The Iris scanner works perfectly as it only recognizes my eyes to unlock the phone. I tested this feature with my husband by having him look into the phone and it declared NOT A MATCH as it is supposed to so Samsung has definitely upped its anti-theft game protection on this model. I love the options of using Bixby and/or Google assistant...they work seamlessly. I will say that the google location tracker creeped me out a little as it LITERALLY detects your EVERY MODE of TRANSIT, it will tell you how long you walked for, what area you are at to the nine, when you decided to jump on a train, cab etc all while logging the minutes you have lingered and taken to get from point a to z...heck I would be surprised to have read in the logs if the phone heard any gas passing situations....lol. I mean this phone is really something. Seriously, that google tracker is great for parents to keep tabs on their kids whereabouts, it is ACCURATE!!! I am a big fan of the Samsung Health app as it assists me in reaching my health goals by counting my steps, checking my pulse, heart beat and dietary needs....AWESOME tool! The video and music playback is great...picture and audio couldn't be better...I love the infinity screen and sound. There are some really cute built-in ring tones too. There are plenty other great perks this phone offers, so many I will be typing all day which I'm not willing to do...lol. My husband liked the phone so much he went and bought one the same day too!! I have raved to my friends to GET THE UNLOCKED 8+ version from Best Buy and am encouraging you all reading this to do the same before the sale is over.

Used phone sold to me as new!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the “new phone “ on credit , as soon as I finished paying it off, within hours it was reported lost or stolen. Paid a lot of money for this paper weight. Phone is blacklisted by original owner. Will not work on any network. Long time customer “no longer”.

Love the phone, lots of new features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this phone to replace my s5 that was 3 years old. Love the feel a d look of it. Still finding new things to do with it. The transition from s5 to this much easier than from s3 to s5. They got rid of the flap covering the charge port- yeah & there is still a place for headphones to be plugged in. Got the unlocked version this time, I was a bit nervous as I didn't understand what all that meant, but it's all good. I had a good deal going with my carrier and was able to keep it. Got the phone on black Friday so got a good deal. I did the figures long term (30 months) of unlocked v. Locked, and unlocked was way to go.

This beast does it all! Yay Samsung.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy S8+ after cancelling my preorder of the Google Pixel XL due to poor display reviews. Best decision i have made. I have had the phone for 2 weeks now and feel very comfortable with it. Takes amazing pictures and video of the kidos even in low light and opens apps up super fast. I had a Galaxy s4 before and this thing feels like i went from a stationwagon to a twin turbo super car. Except that its great on gas! -battery life is exceptional, and loving the wireless charging by my bed, no more waking up to phone linked to cord and dropping it bending the end of the cord. The front screen does make me nervous still as i am afraid of it being dropped against it but i did get a screen protector for it and feel a bit safer. Just need to be more careful with it than my old S4. I am currently using the otterbox commuter case and its been great just be careful when adding the front tempered glass, the case can pull it off if not installed precicely. Look and see what area your case covers before installing glass, i had to lip the bottom of the case over glass for it to work. Reviews said to use otterbox brand glass but it was sorta pricey so i oppted for Amazon there. Buy the phone and watch some quick youtube S8 videos to learn how to use its tons of functions. Bixby...well shes my new best friend.

Excellent battery life and images
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the phone for a month and I love it. I go 2 days before it needs to be put on a charger (I usually plug it in around 60% battery or so) and it's fully recharged in less than 2 hours. The battery life is phenomenal (although I don't have any apps on it other than factory installs). Customizing it was pretty simple. The camera is excellent. The only 2 things that drive me crazy are related to the lock screen settings. I find myself constantly pushing one of the buttons and then swiping it to unlock it. Sometimes I have to press a small square twice before I can swipe to unlock it. Also, the time clock on the home screen is small and I'm not crazy about the time format. I tried installing an app that would let me customize the screen but it wouldn't allow me to change font sizes. I miss being able to push a button and see a large time display, instantaneously. The second thing is taking a screenshot. Although this is probably related to my otterbox case...the quick screenshot option of pressing the volume down key while simultaneously pressing the power key only worked for me twice out of 30 tries (again, this could easily be the case I have and not the device itself). If the clock and unlock things don't bother you, I'd highly recommend this phone!

Nice phone, not perfect...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My last Samsung phone was a Note 2, after which I abandoned the line and went to Motorola's Moto X Pure Edition for its near-stock Android experience. Unfortunately, I broke that great phone while attempting to replace the non-user-replaceable battery. So, I thought I'd give Samsung another chance. I was prepared for the usual Samsung bloatware and really hoped that four generations would be enough for Samsung to have ironed out the lag and stuttering that plagued the earlier generations of their phones. Sadly, I still noticed some of that, but they have advanced greatly and it's not anywhere near as bad as those early phones, but it still lags, especially compared with a newer iPhone, Pixel, or Motorola. Maybe that's on account of the extreme amount of bloatware they still put on their phones or just a lack of software optimization. I did end up returning the phone, but not for these reasons alone: What I could not get over was the extreme fragility of the phone. My botched surgery on the Moto X notwithstanding, I am generally speaking, a very careful person and handle my electronics delicately. Never carry phones in the same pocket with keys, never drop them (knock on wood), and aside from the aforementioned Moto, I've never broken a single one of my electronics. Still, after a week of use with the s8+, I noticed a small scratch on the screen. I was perplexed because this phone supposedly has the most recent version of gorilla glass. Where the scratch showed up is where I usually swipe up to get to the app drawer. I could only conclude then that my fingernail was enough to scratch the screen. Now, maybe it was just a scratch in the oleophobic coating, but I wasn't about to go buffing off the coating to find out. After digging around in the reddit and xda forums, I found a great number of other users reported the same thing. With so many other flagships right around the corner (Pixel 2, iPhone X), I just couldn't keep it. It's a shame too, because this phone is beautiful, without a doubt. It ticks a lot of boxes - gorgeous screen, fast performance, wireless charging, expandable storage, water proofing, good pricing, etc., but Samsung really dropped the ball on durability with this one. I can't imagine what it would look like after a month or a year.

Phone and Samsung Co is awful.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be honest, I purchased this phone June 5th and have had nothing but problems with it since I bought it. The biggest problem, the battery and charging problems. Every time I let the phone get to 40% or less battery life, and plug it in, it automatically just shuts down completely. Not sleep, not screen off, SHUT DOWN. It has been crazy annoying but i dealt with it since it is the "best phone out there". Next, the always on screen. Sometimes it is literally ALWAYS ON. screen is on, at the main home screen, not the lock screen. Anyone can get into the phone, browse away and make calls if I a not watching. Also, in this state, if it isn't charging and I put it in my pocket, it actually heats my leg uncomfortably. The only solution is to hit the power button to put it to the lock screen. Very frustrating but I dealt with it because it is "the best phone out there". Now this morning i awoke to find the phone powered off. I assume the battery had dies so I plugged it in. Normally, as soon as it is plugged in you would see a circle with a lightning bolt inside that appears, letting you know it is at zero percent but it is charging. The LED light would also blink at the top....nothing. No LED light, no circle with lightning bolt, nothing. I then proceeded to spend 3 hours looking on the internet, calling Samsung, everything to try and rectify the issue. It just will not turn on. Knowing Best Buy is an authorized partner of Samsung, I jumped int eh car and traveled to the best Buy near me. To be fair, the Geek Squad rep, Amil I think, was very helpful and understanding. At first I thought they would simply exchange it out for a replacement but he advised he could not do that. He then spoke to a manager who told him we could a rapid replacement which would take 2 days. Fine I said, 2 days I can handle. Then they realized when they were processing it that Samsung does not allow best Buy to handle replacement and we would need to call Samsung. So now I get on the phone with Samsung and they have me go through 20 minutes of attempts to resolve the issue, the same things I just spent 3 hours trying. Still nothing. I also read in their warranty for cell phones that "During the applicable warranty period, provided the Product is returned in accordance with the terms of this Standard Limited Warranty, Samsung will repair or replace the Product, at Samsung’s sole option, without charge." So i figured they would just ask the woman to overnight a replacement of this 5 month old phone and I would ship this broken one back, done....nope. The woman on the phone refused to even acknowledge replacing was an option even though I read her word for word what the warranty stated. The only option was to send it to them, wait for them to fix it, and then send it back. All of which will take 2 weeks! I replacement can be shipped in 2 days!. I asked her nicely again to replace it as I cannot be without a phone for 2 weeks, no; she wouldn't even consider it since she didn't believe it was in the warranty in the first place. After a 3rd try to get her to understand she simply got quiet as she refused to even discuss it with me any longer. Very disrespectful and lack of understanding of my situation or their warranty apparently but also very disrespectful to a customer who has spent a fortune on Samsung products. I had asked the store manager at Best Buy if there was anything at all they could do since I have spent thousands of dollars a year at this store. Unfortunately they could not help as it is all Samsung at this point. So now I am sending the phone back to Samsung to let them spend 2 weeks to repair and send it back. In the interim I plan to buy another phone THAT WILL NOT BE SAMSUNG. I have been a Samsung fan for 4 years now and have spent close to $20,000 on phones, TVs, all new kitchen appliances. To be so mistreated after all of this loyalty is unbelievable. After tolerating all of nuisances with this phone and then to be told they cannot replace it but it must be sent in for repair for 2 weeks is just unacceptable. This is the reason why Samsung has peaked for me and will now be going downhill. As far I am concerned there will never be another Samsung product in my home and I will actively tell whoever will listen to stay away from this company who does not respect their customers loyalty. I wouldn't normally post something like this but this isn't a 100 dollar item. I paid over $1,200 dollars for this with accessories not 5 months ago! Unless this company makes this right I will get the phone back ,sell it and never even consider another Samsung product, period. The aggravation alone is worth 10 of these phones that cost Samsung less than 300 dollars to manufacturer. Losing a 20k customer is going to hurt. Further I plan to post this review anywhere I can so that as many people considering Samsung products understand the company and lack of customer focus.

Amazing Phone with Zero Compromise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was switching over from an LG G4, which became best known for its widespread and fatal manufacturing defect, so anything else would be a vast improvement. But the stunning beauty of my first Samsung phone blew away any expectations I had as I unboxed the device, a wow factor that hasn't gone away as it always has with any other purchase. Seriously, there's no bad angle of this phone. One of the strong suits of my G4 was the camera, and I was worried that the S8 would be a downgrade since the resolution is a little lower. So far in the 11 pictures I've taken, the S8 has produced even more vivid images, and performs even better in low-light conditions. Selective focus is a neat feature, allowing for a semi-portrait mode. With just a little software refinement, I believe this phone is capable of a fully functional portrait mode, like the Note 8's Live Focus feature. Though I worry that Samsung won't release that feature to the S8 line to keep the Note 8 slotted above for marketability reasons (Samsung, if you're reading, don't do that). As for durability, no I have not tested the phone's IP68 water resistance nor do I intend to, but it does provide for peace of mind. Because of the glass front and back, this is the first phone I've ever gotten a case for, since I like the feel of a slim and caseless phone, but that's a small price to pay to make sure your beautiful and flawless device stays that way. Next is Samsung Pay. As a huge price shopper, I aim to get the maximum value out of every purchase, and the Samsung Rewards program that is embedded within Samsung Pay is just the cherry on top. You earn points per transaction (not by amount unfortunately) so that's extra cash back on top of what you get with your credit card. And occasional promotions make it easier to rack up points. So this phone does pay for itself (albeit very slowly). And the best part about Samsung Pay is that it works at any credit card terminal where you would swipe (or insert) your card, not just terminals built for Android/Apple Pay which use NFC. Lastly, many buyers are probably split between the S8+ and Note 8 as I was myself. Here's what I see the decision boiling down to: screen size, cameras, S Pen, battery, and price. As for screen size, you'll be hard pressed to be able to discern the 0.1" difference. It took me a while with the two display models side by side, so I don't see this difference holding any weight in this decision. As for the cameras, yes, the Live Focus portrait mode with the Note 8's dual cameras is amazing, but as I mentioned earlier, I'm optimistic that the S8's selective focus will be improved with future software updates. So the Note 8 gets a point here. Next is the S Pen. No question, the S Pen is a cool device with unique features not found on other stylus phablets. For me personally, I couldn't see myself getting used to a stylus, so it would've gone mostly unused. If you're a fan of the S Pen, give the Note 8 a point here, but if not, then it's a draw (pun intended). In case you're wondering, no the S Pen from the Note 8 does not work on the S8. Due to the internal space requirements for the S Pen's slot, there is that much less space in the Note 8's chassis. And because Samsung packs their phones full of features and the hardware necessary to have said features, the Note 8's battery capacity takes a hit. The S8+ has a 3500 mAh battery whereas the Note 8 has a 3300 mAh battery. Note 8 reviews I've come across have said positive things about battery life, so it's a matter of great and greater battery life, but the S8+ wins here. As a side note, the S8 has a smaller battery, but a smaller screen to power. My mom just got the S8 herself, and I've noticed similar battery life between her phone and mine. But the Note 8 has a ever so slightly larger screen than the S8+ and a smaller battery, so its shorter battery life is to be expected. And most importantly, price. The $100-150 difference was substantial enough for me to not even consider the Note 8. Had money not been an issue, I probably would've gotten the Note 8 instead, solely for the Live Focus feature. As an epilogue, I'd like to mention the advantages/disadvantages of shelling out the ~$150 premium for the unlocked version compared to the carrier versions which are usually discounted further. First, not carrier bloat means that your bootups are free of carrier branding and your OS is as pristine as a wi-fi tablet or dare I say, the iPhone. And you won't have carrier bloatware that you want to, but can't uninstall. I'm using my phone on Verizon. Keep in mind this phone uses a nano-SIM, which I didn't have switching over from the G4. It is possible to cut a micro-SIM down with an X-Acto knife to get it to work in a nano-SIM phone, but it's not worth the hassle at all. Go to any Best Buy or Verizon corporate store (make sure it's not a Verizon "authorized dealer/reseller" since they like to charge for a SIM).and they'll hook you up, and you shouldn't have to pay a dime. Another minor difference I noticed was the LTE logo is the universal icon in the status bar when mobile data is turned on which is difference from Verizon's (mind you I had used 3 Verizon smartphones prior to getting this unlocked one). The one disadvantage is the lag in software updates since Samsung (for whatever reason) tends to update the most stock version of their phones last even though they should be the easiest to update. So far, this model has kept up, but only time will tell. If you have any questions about this particular model, the unlocked advantages, or specifically using this on Verizon, please leave a comment and I'll try to get back to you ASAP.

Very fast, good battery life.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A very well designed phone with easy access to the more used apps, also easy access to the contacts that we talk more or are more important. Very responsive, very fast. The battery last a good day and a half (I usually stream music the whole day to a Bluetooth speaker) and by the end of the day still have 50-60% of the battery. It comes with a few apps already installed but most of the them are very usable. The wireless charging fixture is very helpful since there is no need to be plugging and unplugging the phone and, with time, getting the charging port damaged. In case of needing more than the memory already installed, it allows to install an SD card to expand it. There is a LOT more to mention about this phone that any user would love, very good phone.

An Amazing Phone Finally Available in Blue!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the S8 was initially released I felt dejected because the coral blue model was not available in the US. Irregardless of color it's still an amazing phone so I purchased the gray model but something always felt as if it was not right. Ever since the Note 7 in coral blue I've just been Amazed by the way Samsung is able to create a blue phone. So when the coral blue model was announced and coming to Best Buy unlocked with a great promotion I couldn't wait to get my hands on this phone, which I did Sunday, July 23rd. It's great that Samsung has finally ditched the more gaudy Silver and gold colors and went with subdued pastel colors like Orchid grey and coral blue, but unlike the grey this coral blue packs more aesthectic bang for your bucks. The features available on the S8 models are phenomenal such as the 3 different biometrical methods in which you can log into your phone, the tried and true finger print method, iris scanner, and face unlock. Best of all you don't have to choose just one, you can set up all 3 and use the unlock method that's best for you in the moment. The HDR screen delivers incomparable visuals on a smart phone. In fact, I've found that it's best not to use another device concurrently with the S8, because you'll feel as if your second phone or tablet isn't up to par with Samsungs offerings. Truthfully no other smartphone on the market is as Advanced as the S8 models, yet the phone isn't difficult to use. Samsung has advanced back their UI TouchWiz, leaving an experience as close to pure Android than Samsung has ever come before. The camera is great, something meant phone manufacturers are mastering, but I've found that the editing software on the S8 has enabled me to touch up photos over 20 years old, producing clearer and brighter results. You can even attempt to apply the Bokeh, visual depth effect, to photos you haven't taken with the S8, all of this may sound a bit daunting but you simply can jtake a picture of a photo with your S8 and start editing from there! Lastly the unlock models come without the additional bloatware that you find on Carrier sold phones, so you really can't go wrong by buying an unlocked model. In the future I will definitely wait to buy the unlocked model of the smart phone I want, the benefits that come with being patient definitely outweigh waiting to get what you really want.
