The Active series in the Galaxy S line is never really promoted the way it should be, but the S8 Active is a great option for those who find the original S8/S8+ a little too fragile. The phone is heavier, naturally, but its a nice trade off for a piece of mind without the glass back - and also features a "shatter-resistant" screen, something that is not listred in the features of the regular S8. Nearly everything is the same internally between the Active and the regular model, except the Active has a huge 4000 mAh battery, which is 1000 mAh more than the original 8 and 500 more than the 8+. I would highly recommend this phone.

My first Samsung was the S3 and the battery was horrible. When my previous phone died I had to get a new one fast. I was apprehensive about the S8 but I pulled the trigger. It has been exceptional. The battery life is the BEST I have ever had by far. Only things I don't like the the 'Bixby' button and a lack of a 'home' button. I don't care for the charging port as it looks fragile, so I got a wireless charger. Other than that all good. I will be looking for an app to re-use the Bixby button for something/anything else. I did buy a Spigen case and it works great. It also works with my wireless charger.

Nice Hardware. Purchased for rugged build, water resistance and shatterproof screen. Nice android delivery, but loaded with bloatware. Cannot uninstall facebook and/or many of the useless Samsung apps.

Phone gets really warm on mapping-- battery is not impressive

Ordered a new phone and twice was send an open box item. Best buy is a joke. Making me wait for a new phone for their mistakes. I will go somewhere else.

I returned a S8+ due to the battery life not being what I felt was good and replaced it with this phone. Yes the screen was somewhat smaller but not that much to make or break the deal. You lose the edge functions but that was a drain on the battery anyway if you used it. Now I have great battery life again for like the Mate 9 that was replaced due to Bluetooth issues.

The fingerprint scanner may be close to the camera but is in a GREAT position if you pick up the device with either hand and your index finger automatically is in the right position. When you set up your various fingerprints with the included phone instructions this perfect placement is detailed. I've read a lot of NEGATIVE reviews about it being awkward but SAMSUNG has simplified the process.The phone is heavy due to the construction but I favor it as opposed to a completely GLASS phone. I favor the 4000mAh battery also as compared to any other flagship out there with less. This is a S8 with 1000 more battery mAh, and a tough body to take on drops without a case if you prefer. if you like the S8, S8+ but need a tough phone then this is your phone!

Ok, so the phone is awesome but so was the best buy service....cheerful, full of spot on information and patient. I went in to look at the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Andrea told me about the S8 Active. I love love love this phone! And she helped me find the perfect case for it too. And she listened and knew just what I wanted.

This by far the best phone I have had yet. Have owned just about every Galaxy S series and upgrades every year. This is the first time that I have not wanted to upgrade to the newest model. Love this phone. Just bought my wife and she came from loving an HTC
