Great phone, but some annoying bugs for a flagship

Great phone, but some annoying bugs for a flagship phone. Main gripe is that Samsung changed their app icon notification badges. It used to give you the number of unread messages. Now if you've opened the message app at all or swiped away a notification it clears the understand badge count. AND there's no way to sort messages by unread. So my message/ text flow is ruined. I have to scroll down literally hundreds of texts to see if I have any unread that I never read or responded to. I also have the bixby button and button placement overall. To press the power button, you need a finger in the opposite side to push against. And this means I frequently launch bixby when I'm trying to simply turn my phone on. Luckily there are apps to disable or reprogram that button. Lastly this is my first curved screen. It's fine, but offers me no benefit, as the edge features usually just get in the way and open when I meant to do something else, so I disabled them. And then in everyday use the curve distorts video edges for no good reason, and often makes it harder to select text or details on the screen edge. All negatives expressed, it's otherwise a great phone. More powerful than my Galaxy s6, better battery life, speedy, usable with one hand, vivid colors, good camera - all that you'd expect from a flagship phone.

    Needed a new phone, but...

I bought this to replace my wife's failing S6. I knew the S9+ was bigger, I guess I didn't realize how much bigger. It wouldn't be bad if you just kept it as is, but the phone is slippery and hard to even hold, so you pretty much have to put protection on it, and by the time I got it into an Otter Defender, it starts to resemble a lilac brick. Even with the in the box instructions and some excellent documentation, I had to contact Verizon support to activate and set up the phone, this is Verizon's failure, not anything to do with the phone itself. I couldn't use the phone-phone transfer because the S6 USB port was broken, so I did a cloud transfer which got back her contacts, messages, and calls, which was nice, but she's not happy that she has to reinstall all the apps. She was even less happy when the first two she tried to install said they're not compatible with the phone - haven't had time to follow up on that yet but it's not hopeful. So far we both kind of really miss the hardware Home button, and we really need to find and change the screen lock timeout because you hardly have time to swipe the screen once you wake the phone before it goes back to sleep. I boots up slowly, but once it's up, it responds fast and the screen is gorgeous. I'm waffling on the question of would I recommend it, it's not bad and I'm sure once it's set up and we get used to it we'll appreciate it more, but it's kind of like, for the price they get for these I can't really say it's worth it to rush out and get one.

    Gimmicky rush to market effort

Wow...So disappointed in the effort from Samsung. Sure there are some nice little fixes compared to the S8, but for the most part this phone is a joke. I know the camera gets a lot of press, but I am not impressed at all. From the images I took, it is unreliable and nothing to write home about. The AR is an attempt to duplicate the iPhone X AR Emojis and Samsung did a horrible job at it. Also...when will Samsung realize that slow motion video can be a tool and not just a gimmick. Give users some control. Slow motion is used in my workplace all the time to catch issues. Samsung makes it one way or none and it is an ambarrassment. It use to be that Apple would take current technology and enhance it. They got ripped for this. Samsung seems to be trying to do the same but they are not making it better. I didn’t even get into the horrible face recognition on this phone. Not mistaking it...the iPhone X nailed it with fast face recognition. I love my Note 8 as well but Samsung is just so far behind. Anyone that rates this phone a 5 is a pure samsung fanboy since this is a $900 fail for the most part

I purchased the S9+ to replace my S7 Edge. The phone has great features as always and absolutely love the camera. However, my joy was short lived as a problem emerged with the phone's microphone. I doesn't work right. Using telephone people have told me I found like I'm underwater. That's where it got worse. Because I understand a phone can be defective but the service I received from Best Buy, Geek Squad and Samsung has been atrocious. Here it is almost a month after I bought it and it isn't fixed nor repaired. They have the the run around and sent me to two repair places. Less than a month of using it folks. They should replace this defective phone but instead I have to go out of my way, go all over town, pay for parking and my phone is still defective right before i will make a trip overseas. Thank you Best Buy, Heek Squad, and Samsung for making my S9 plus buying experience terrible.

It seems durable. That's a great thing. It is also very functional with a decent interface. I come from the Moto family of phones, so this is my first Galaxy device. If I had never used the Moto I would love this phone. But it doesn't have the same features built into the screen like the motion detection. That is really nice. Also, the most annoying thing, and the reason I will never buy another one, is the Bixby and volume rocker are both opposite the power button. So I delete a dozen screen shots a week or accidently open Bixby (even though I have the button supposedly disabled). I miss my Moto, but this is a good phone despite a major ergonomic factor.

    upgrade to S9+ from S6

This phone works fine, it's not as laggy as my old S6 but that's probably due to the planned obsolescence thing. Not seeing the hype with the camera. I thought this thing was supposed to take awesome pictures? I'm not seeing how it takes better photos than the S6. I miss having the hard keys on the S6 at the bottom of the phone. On the S9+ you have to tap hard at the bottom of the screen to get the S9+ to wake up, then you swipe upwards to reveal the softkeys to either go back a screen, back out to app "home" screen, or select from multiple open app windows. These actions are much easier to do on the S6. The phone is nice, but I'm not seeing head and shoulders improvement from the S6. Truth be told, I'm a little disappointed.

Not wild about this phone because 1) it's case is glass, 2) on screen camera controls awful...suddenly I'm taking a slo-mo of myself as my finger gets too close to the screen, 3) bloat ware, 4) the keyboard it comes with, 5) battery life is not as advertised, 6) all support avenues for my problems gave me the "that's the way it is," live with it attitude, 7) "themes" are awful, 8) not enough Widgets install for lock screen/home screen, 9) I question my decision on getting the 9+ larger screen....don't really need it, 10) $1000 is honestly just too much for this thing.

I switched from an IPhone to the Samsung Galaxy S9 six months ago. Terrible choice. BIXBY is annoying and not useful. The keyboard is horrible and misspells everything. I tried turning down the sensor that didn't help. Easily cracks if dropped even with case protectors. Only thing good about the phone is the camera! The phone had dead zones when I first purchased and they kept telling me it would be fixed when the kinks were worked out from it being a new product. But it never worked properly until I actually cracked it and had to get it replaced. I cannot wait to get an upgrade.

My wife is not very tech savvy, and with her busy schedule hasn't really taken the time to customize her phone or learn how to use it. She's smart enough to figure it out, but doesn't have the time or patience. Bixby is also very annoying to her. She regularly presses the Bixby button on the side of the phone by accident, and gets frustrated easily by it. I personally think she just needs to sit down for an hour, customize it and learn how to use the functions and she'd be much happier with it.

This is the first phone I've had to buy in a while and I'm neutral about it. The amount of spam calls I get on my new number is very aggrovating but I guess that's network related. It Has some cool features but seems a bit buggy already so hopefully those are worked out with updates. It's has a slim design which is cool but I can see it slipping out of my hands so make sure you've got a good case! Nice phone but nothing amazing.

The internals of the phone itself are great. The curved screen is another thing. For example: Buttons near the edge of the screen on the keyboard when texting are not responsive enough. You have to press very hard for the actual character to appear. Frustrating is my description for this phone. The curved screen means nothing if it does not work as intended.

This was an update from an S6 for me so lots of things had changed. Had trouble with the phone 3 days in after a scheduled update it got stuck in safe mode. Verizon couldn't fix it back to Best Buy where the Samsung guy was on hand and did fix it only to have the same issue 3 days later but after several hours of following the prompts it finally worked. Not yet sure if I will keep it.

I'm one of the rare people who switched over from Apple to Android. The phone itself and the capabilities are great but the camera sucks big time. That's the one thing I absolutely hate about this phone. The photos aren't sharp at all and if you or your subject make the slightest bit of movement, then your photos are super blurry. I would have returned the phone but I lost my receipt.

These phones are supposed to be high quality. I've had this one for one month and already experienced issues with glitches. Such as ringer staying on after answering the phone. Trouble with phone recognizing answering a call. My last Samsung galaxy also began having these issues. Get a warranty, you might need one.

The screeen is awesome love it Games on this are great Photos good, too bright and way too colorful the good is that all of it can be adjusted But coming from an IPhone everything else feels clunky and redundant missing iMessage Well that’s my opinion there’s a lot to like here but I’m still on fence with this phone

Overall, the phone is good add works well. Giving it 3 starts because it gets frozen up on me twice since I purchased a month ago. The phone can be a bit picky and lag or not respond to touches in certain areas of the screen. Overall besides the freezing up it works okay.

Switched over from and iPhone 6s. Tried the phone for 3 days. Supposed to be the best camera on the market for low light and it wasn't. Pictures came out very grainy. Even regular photos in a well lit environment looked grainy. Returned the phone and got a pixel 3.

this has been challenging, much harder to learn then the Apple unit I had prior. Still finding ways to use, just more challenging to use and find programs, etc. Plan to have a longer adjustment, learning phase, maybe fine after I learn the ropes to it.

The phone he built very well! Feels like a flagship but on the software on the other hand leaves something to be desired after using the Pixel for so long. I went back to my 2 year old pixel with HUGE top and bottom bezels after not wanting to deal with all the bloat ware

I bought this for my wife. She switched from Apple to a Galaxy 9+. Loves the camera and the battery life. She does miss some of the everyday functionality of the Apple phone. However she will probably stick w samasung moving forward.
