    Good, but I expected better

I upgraded from an S6 to this S9+. I knew it was a larger phone, but I didn't realize just how big and heavy it would be, especially after I got it into a case (Otterbox Defender). I'll get used to that, and I suppose it's part of the tradeoff for the big, clear screen and longer battery life. I do love that screen, and the battery life is way better than I'm used to. The OS and apps do have quite a few bugs, for example I can't get it to not time out and go black while I'm using it, if I pause for a few seconds that's it. Facebook no longer shows a # on the badge to show how many notifications I have, and Message+ shows up on the notification bar as if I have messages, but it's actually stuck at "syncing messages" and I can't dismiss that notification. I absolutely love the fingerprint unlock, I was worried that with the Otter in the way it wouldn't work well, but it reads so much better than the S6 that it works without a hitch almost every time. I'm a little disappointed in the camera, it takes great pictures but often seems to take a long time to auto focus, as did my old one, making it hard to get a good candid photo or a pic of something that's happening right now. The storage is huge and it will take me a while to even get over half full, but I don't download a lot of music or movies, I just store my photos, apps, and documents. It was super easy to connect to my Windows 7 computer, just plugged in the USB, waited a minute, picked photo transfer and browsed the phone. Overall I like this phone, I guess for the price tag I expected near perfection and it didn't quite achieve that.

    Very good... for a Samsung

I prefer "vanilla" Android over Samsung's customized GUI, but when it comes to features this phone still has most everything. I've been very disappointed with their AMOLED screens in the past... my stepdaughter has burned both her S6 and most recently her S8 keyboard right into the display permanently. But my wife's S7 is holding out great, so we're going to give this S9+ a trial run. Initially she wasn't thrilled with the curved edge screen. It feels like you're going to drop it all the time. But since we insist on cases, it isn't quite as bad. We went with the S9+ initially because of the battery life... something Samsung isn't good at is conserving power. But the weight and extra height of the Plus is a minus. For smaller hands, it takes some serious concentration to get used to at first. We have a month to return it so we'll see how it goes. And back to that display: Sure, it's vibrant and detailed and yada yada yada but in order to get that kind of look you're sacrificing your retinas. Dial it back a notch and save your eyeballs, along with your battery life. The extra RAM was the biggest selling point for me, since she insists on leaving tons of apps open and notifications on-deck, the phone used to slow down a TON. Switching from Facebook and Facebook Messenger to the Lite versions helped a ton on the S7, so we'll see if she has a much better experience this time around. As much as I hate Samesong, I will say this: At least they kept the 3.5mm TRRS mini jack and an IP68 rating. I wish I could say the same thing for the Pixel 2, which is why I'm hanging on to my first-gen. Comparing my 2016 Pixel XL to the S9+ reveals my bias. I'll take a nearly-vanilla HTC with an unlocked bootloader any day over a Verizon bloated Samesong any day of the week, even if it is two years behind. They're completely different phones and I personally like mine a whole lot more. But to each his/her own... she loves the wireless charging of the Galaxy series.

For the most part....this phone is leaps and bounds better than my 4 year old Galaxy 5. Features are good, options meet my needs, camera is much better (but not critical for my use). I love the battery/power management...not unusual to see 90% battery at noon....or later. Of course, I'm not glued to my phone like many. As with most phones today, they don't offer replaceable batteries which is why I'll never give a 5 star rating to a phone that doesn't. This is where cell manufactures are fleecing consumers. A replacement battery option extends ownership another 2 or more years....but manufactures can't afford this....they need your non-replaceable battery to die after a couple of years....forcing owners to purchase another phone every 2 years....$$$$$!!! I've used cell phones since 1992....and the averages battery life is 2 years. I can almost put a clock on when my battery will stop holding a good charge....24-30 months. Seems odd....almost as if someone applied a software update to cause this. (Sounds familiar...right?)

I went from the S7 to the S9+. I was worried about the size of the phone & how it would fit in my hand. It's not as easy to handle as I would like, so my fear was founded. It can be cumbersome to text or hold at times, especially when I am limited to one hand. However, my main reason for upgrading was for battery life. I deliver mail & am outdoors a considerable amount of time. While I do have a portable charger, I had times where I had forgotten to charge it & my old phone's battery would drain quickly. I knew this was mainly due to the age of my phone, but also the amount of use at work. The S9+ far exceeds my expectations. I can be at work all day & the battery has yet to read below 75% by the time I get home. I expected an improvement, but not for it to be as drastic as that. I don't use my phone much for anything outside of calling, texting & mapping, so I can't speak to the camera or more technical aspects, but if you are looking for a phone that is easy to use & has a great battery life, I would recommend this.

    Strong phone, mediocre battery

First off I want to say that I am happy with my purchase. I had an iPhone for around 10 years and was looking for something different. I love being able to customize so many different things and think that the speed of this phone is amazing. However, there are a few things that bring it down from blowing an iPhone out of the water. The biggest issue is battery. It seems that the drain happens pretty fast. I have spent time researching what I can do to conserve some of the battery and implemented those. Unfortunately those take away from the over all experience. For example I have set my screen to hd to conserve battery and turned the brightness down to the lowest setting. Part of the reason I was drawn to the s9 plus was the vibrant screen. The second issue I have is I have noticed my 4g coverage isn't as strong as it was with my iphone. I think the phone is cutting edge and has all of the bells and whistles you could imagine. If Samsung would figure out a way to improve the battery I would never consider an other phone.

I upgraded from an S5 to the S9+ and love the new features. The camera is very good in low light and respond to voice commands to snap a picture or selfie. The large screen size is perfect for my needs. Sending images from your gallery in texts is much easier now if your using folders to sort your pictures. You can quickly find a folder and then the picture you want to send someone without scrolling and scrolling. My only negative comment is that I would have much preferred a flat screen or I would have given this phone a 5 star rating. The touch response along the edges of the curved screen lags a little and the screen protrudes out past the frame of the phone, so your going to need a curved screen protector and a good case like an otter box to protect the protruding screen face.

With this S9+ being my 1st Android phone, it did take me a while to learn where things were and how to use it. There are so many things you can do, and I am still learning. The dual camera is nice but not as good as pixel-wise as my old Nokia Icon. Editing a picture is very good and somewhat easy, however the phone should have a pen inside that you could use for the editing...fingers don't work too well for drawing. This is a very nice phone but is not as easy to use as a Windows phone. Too bad Microsoft was late in getting into the phone game...no one is creating Apps and they are out of this market. So the bottom line is I needed something new and with more apps and functionality and the S9+ ended up as my pick over Apple and their iEverything.

Take review with grain of salt because I haven't had a new phone in 8 years. But much faster and better operating system, obviously, even compared to my wife's more expensive, 2 year old phone, or my friend's iPhone X's from what I can tell. Would only advise to get a phone protector which I am normally averse to doing. This phone is fairly slippery AND is also tough to get a good grip on, making for a bad combination even if, like me, you are not prone to dropping phones. I thought I cracked my phone just by gently putting it down on a glass desk, from the sound it made. Much better protected now. If you are prone to dropping, probably a screen protector too, although if your only worry there is getting the screen smudged microfiber wipes are much cheaper.

Had to replace broken Samsung S6 unexpectedly -- went with bigger-better-more, and regretting it now. This phone (with Otterbox, a necessity for me) is a little too large to fit in pockets, heavier, and doesn't fit my hand as well. I thought I'd like the curved edges but I do not, and am not thrilled with the pre-loaded apps, some of which use those curved edges for fly-out menus. I do love the camera, though haven't played much with its advanced features yet -- quality of photos so far is unexpectedly good -- but that doesn't outweigh the things I don't like. They are all personal preferences, however -- the phone does work well, takes great pics, and shows pics well on the larger screen.

Wanted to rate them 3 1/2 Stars, but no option for 1/2 star. Great phones, that could have been 5 stars. Love the performance & features, screen, sound, camera, call quality, IP68 & wireless charging. Why is it 3 1/2 stars? I hate the curved screen edge. Distorts the image & at times, can be unresponsive to touch. Also reflects alot of light off the curve. Hopefully flat screen comes back. Also don't care for the "new" 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Bring back the 16:9 aspect ratio size phone. Next, I don't need or want Bixby & his button. Should have never happened. Last thing I hate is the price, but I guess, if you want to play, you got to pay. Fix these things and would be an easy 5 star phone.

I’ve always been an Apple person and if I had to choose between this phone or the iPhone X, i’d choose the iPhone X. Don’t get me wrong though because this seriously is a nice phone! During the time I had it, I especially liked how it had facial recognition to unlock the phone and a camera that could translate any foreign text that you let your camera detect to English, however I ended up returning it because I loved Apple so much that it felt wrong to be using a Samsung haha. Only thing I didn’t necessarily like about the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is that it is quite hard to swipe around on the screen. The screen isn’t very sensitive so you have to put some pressure onto your finger when swiping.

I upgraded from Galaxy S7 Edge, not because I needed to but because I got a good deal on this phone. While I'm not satisfied with the phone, I'm not sure it is THAT much better than what I had which was working just fine. There are a few new features that I like and the camera is definitely improved, however that are also some annoyances that I did not notice with the previous phone, such as the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone which is convenient when you are holding the phone, especially with one hand, but I used the fingerprint scanner to unlock the S7 Edge while it was laying on my desk ... not possible with the new phone.

I upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge when there was a great deal going on and got my monthly bill to go down. New phones are usually better and have newer technology, but I must say that the phone function is the worst part of this phone. I've had several dropped calls in areas I had no issue on my old phone (same service provider) and even more frequently, the inability for others to hear me when using bluetooth in the car (same vehicle). I find it quite frustrating that a new device would perform much worse than an older version, especially for the high price they charge. I hope they can get this issue resolved and push out a fix soon.

I still have a lot to learn with this phone (going from being a lifetime iPhone user). It looks great, and the pictures are really amazing quality (by far the best feature), but there are some hiccups I'm hoping will eventually get worked out - Bitmoji isn't easy to use in texts, sending multiple pics at a time is a pain, having trouble using the Waze app and their map program minimizes it's size while I'm driving. That being said, I'm still very happy with my purchase, no regrets about moving away from iPhone. The battery life is fantastic, graphics great, and I know there are many other features on here I just haven't learned yet.

This is my second Samsung phone. My first was an S7. I liked it well enough to buy this S9 Plus. Although the screen is awesome and definitely has the cool factor by wrapping text over the curved edges of the screen, I don't find that selecting anything does nearly as well on those curved edges as it does elsewhere. Love facial recognition access to phone, and would love it even more if it worked in the dark. It appears not to have any sort of infrared though. But that's okay, because the pin number always works in the dark. Love the phone.

I like the phone especially from switching from my Note 5. It's a little different from my Note 5 I like not having the buttons. A little hard to get used to especially with Bixby. I find myself especially not as technical as most shutting off all of Bixby. I believe that I would and we'll use this phone a lot especially for photos calendars because I have a lot of appointments. I also like listening to my music on it YouTube. As I said I'm not real technical on my phone but there's a lot of things that are good with this phone. I really do like the sound on it.

I used to be able to go 3 days on a battery with my iPhone 7 plus. I recently switched from apple to android and this is the one I chose. Design is beautiful and size is great. Camera is amazing and it does things pretty quickly. Only thing that sucks is the battery life. When taken off the charger it goes down 10% in the first hour even if I'm not using it. There has been several times when my phone has died when I'm out and about which sucks. It's a very nice phone, but if battery life is what your biggest concern is with a phone this probably isn't for you.

I upgraded to this phone because can take better photos. Only I really like new reversible power cords. Only problem I have is I had just spent lot money on 128 gb card. I've had lots problems with this phone working with this card. I had no issues with my Galaxy S7. They say I need buy another card and problem should go away. Lot money to spend especially after just spending over thousand dollars on this phone and accessories needed to protect it. Could not use any from my other phone.

I do not like Bixby, I accidentally hit the button every once in a while and it barks at me that it is Bixby.... THe camera is alright but not as tight as I expected. The controls get in the way when I am fumbling to get a quick pic. Screen does not respond sometimes when I touch buttons near the edge but still on the front. The battery does last all day but I am afraid to charge it at the end when it is not discharged completely for fear of charging memory wear on the battery.
