    Good, Not Great Tablet!

    Posted .

This tablet is probably the best value for its $329 price. If you can are able and willing to spend an extra $120 I would recommend the Galaxy Note. The screen resolution is great but not Retina or Super HD. Really The Galaxy Tab 2 is just a super-sized version of the Galaxy S III. I would have liked to see some more capabilities and features than the phone. Overall a great tablet for the price and I would recommend it!

    Nothing but problems

    Posted .

Purchased this as a gift for a relative. After 3 months of use lines started to appear on the screen and flickered continuously. The problem progressively became worse rendering the tablet unusable. The tablet was sent back to Samsung. They supposedly fixed it but after using it again for 3 days the same problem returned. According to the Geek Squad the manufacturer will not let them replace it so back it goes to Samsung. I own the Ipad 1 and 2 and wish I had recommended either of those products. The only reason we went for the Galaxy was because my relative uses an Android phone. By all accounts this product stinks. Judging by the forums I see many others have experienced similar issues. Buyers beware, avoid this product.

    Great tablet!

I purchased this tablet last month and fell in love with the brightness and crispness of the colors. I went in to purchase the Toshiba Excite but loved how the Samsung Tab 2 responded. In comparison to the Note, I thought the Tab 2 was a better choice for me since the Note had too many functions that I didn't need. The cost of the Tab 2 was reasonable and affordable. I was concerned that the dual core wasn't going to respond as quickly as a quad core tablet like the Note and Excite, but it holds its own and is quick. I am very happy with my purchase. For me, this was a good choice because it is for personal use only. I can easily take it with me on vacation or to a friend's home.

    Great tablet for the price.

Bought this as an upgrade to my Tab 2 7 inch. Grabbed it when they cut the price due to the release of the Tab 3. Weren't any real big updates to the 3 so I figured why not save the money. Hoping it will replace my laptop for my day to day internet usage. So far it's been perfect. The battery life has been great and it's much less bulky than my laptop. It's very thin which for my hands was not good. Added a silicone case to it to add some girth and that made it easier to grip. Like most tablets there's no usb but there's an add on plug available that adds that for using an external device if needed. Almost all my electronics are Samsung from phone right through this tablet and every one of them performs exceptionally. The android platform means it performs exactly the way my Note phone does so it creates uniformity. Between the 3 the phone has been great, signal virtually anywhere and easy access to internet for quick reference. The Tab 7inch is what I carry for day to day travel. You can access Netflix so waiting for the wife at appointments goes by in a flash and the screen is perfect for game playing like Candy Crush. (You know you play that!) The 10 inch is great for day to day and transports easy on vacation for long term travel. They all run on the same platform so nothing changes except the size. Couldn't ask for anything better. In the future I'd like to see Samsung add an onboard micro usb and expansion up to 64gb through the micro sd expansion. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to use tablet that will go the distance. Quality made and performs perfectly. Price is no higher than any low end laptop available and exceeds apple in performance in my opinion, for half the price as well. Couple this with an external hard drive and an external cd drive and it will do just about anything a laptop will do and you don't have to lug the heavy drive weight around making portability a piece of cake.

One of the reasons I bought this tablet was so I would have something to do while at the Doctors office with my husband since he goes about twice a week. I was amazed at all the places that have free wifi so I can connect just about anywhere. I love the colors, very bright and clear. It also has a good battery life. I can also read my emails and look at facebook and send pictures to post.

    Replacement

I don't have anything bad to say about the tablet. I like Samsung products so I decided to purchase it. I had a Toshiba Thrive Tablet, the screen broke and although it was under warranty, they wanted to charge me almost 200.00 to repair it. So, I decided to buy the Samsung, Best Buy told me I would not have that problem with them. I feel really good about that. I don't want to purchase apps but other than that, I like it a lot.

    Great Tablet

I've had my tablet for a couple months now and love it. I can easily do quick internet searches when needed instead of firing up my desktop or trying to see what I need on a much smaller smartphone screen. I can leisurely surf, play a game, read a book, check email, view and work with my notes and files on Evernote, Springpad, etc., the same as on my desktop, but comfortably from my recliner after a long day at work. I recently visited an older friend who is retired, and although she's not very comfortable with tech stuff, after playing around with my tablet for awhile, she decided she just had to have one. She bought her tablet that same weekend, paid full price, but when it went on sale a week later she got money back with Best Buy's price match guaranty (as did I when I purchased mine). She's had her tablet for about a month now and is still thrilled with it. I also like that the Samsung tablet has an expansion slot for an SD card for added storage unlike the iPad. It just plain offers so much more for the price and is a great product in my opinion. And the people at Best Buy will help you set it up if you're a tech novice, or help you any way they can. They're very helpful and are not paid commission. I really like that.

    IPad killer

The more I use it the more I like it. Had the 7" model first, didn't like it that well. This is the case where size does matter and in this case bigger is better. The 10.1 in screen allows websites to viewed in their normal version, some websites default to the mobile version because Android is used on phones but you can usually scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the classic or regular version of the website. Sound is very good for speakers on a tablet. The screen is bright and very nice. For price and features it blows the Apple products away. More FREE apps, more features, bigger screen (I pad is only 9.7") All in all I quite enjoy using it and highly recommend it. Had the Zagg screen protector installed on it, spendy but warrantied. Also bought the Belkin leather case, it was quite pricey but it was the one I liked the best (which of course was the most expensive).

for us baby boomers, nice toy

    Posted .

I had originally purchased a IPAD 2, but all kinds of problems downloading skype and msn messenger. Being that I grew up playing kickball, and sandlot baseball, computers and such were not even invented yet. So, for a adult not used to all the gizmos, this tablet is been fairly easy to get the hang of. I refer to my cell, as a dumb phone. Actually, I do need help. Anyway, returned the ipad (way overpriced),and traded for the Samsung. I have had it a week, and have lots of fun with it. Also, easy to type on, the "keys" are bigger, and i have big fingers. No way can I text on a cell. Haven't actually skyped with it yet, but will be doing a lot of that with this tablet. I travel for a living, so way better to travel with. Light and portable. I can check my stocks out easily, and adjust the font size on msn easily. I actually play some fighter jet games on it, and it's a blast. I have downloaded songs and you tube videos for when I travel. I pay for Netflix, so the BB rep, says it's easy to watch from anywhere you have a wifi connection. Most of the hotels do these days. So, many movies I still want to see, and I can do it from my hotel room in Colombia, or Hawaii. Not that I want to be watching movies while in Hawaii. I have watched a movie on Netflix, and the tablet worked great off of my router. The speakers are not that loud, but, using some quality headphones will take care of that. I have a over the ear pair of Skull Candy, which also help drown out the airplanes engine noise. Now BB just lowered the price another $50 bucks so off to get that credit, as BB is good about reimbursing if the price drops. I bought my tablet a week ago at $349. I added a 32 gb mini sd card for more storage in the future. Had BB put on the protective shield for me, of which they charge $14.99 for, (IMHO should be free, especially to silver members), also purchased the leather case for it. So far, no problems as of yet, and for the price..move over Apple, you have some stiff competition. You can't add more memory on an Apple, that is how they get you to "upgrade", and of course keep dropping more money on their products. 8,16,32,64 gb.... all $100 increases, for basically more storage. Do yourself a favor, and look outside of the Apple box. This pad is great for the price. Of course I think lots of these gizmos are overpriced but, I have to admit, pretty cool toys.

    Decent tablet for the money

    Posted .

Samsung quality for a decent price. Tablet shipped with Android Jellybean version 4.1.1. Has a good solid feel and the dual speakers are nice. They are located on the front so no problems hearing them if the tab is in a case. Handles everything I throw at it without lag, pretty speedy overall. Touchscreen is responsive with no double taps required. Cameras are just average but work decently. No flash though. Works well with Skype which is a plus. Honestly it's a tablet not a camera. Wi-Fi is solid no connection drops anywhere I've connected to. My only minor gripe with the tablet itself is that the screen resolution could be better. It uses a 1280 x 800 PLS display and small text can look fuzzy. Not extreme but you do notice it. No issues with video quality though, looks nice and clear. Web pages are decent too as long as the text size isn't too small. If so, just zoom in a bit. Make no mistake though, the screen is NOT as nice as the iPad. However the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is about 100 bucks cheaper. You get what you pay for. Another item to note is "app quality". This has nothing to do with the Sammy tab and everything to do with Android apps in general. There are hundreds of thousands of apps available through Google Play market. Some are not optimized for tablet size viewing and can look strange. As much as I'm not an Apple fan, I have to admit that my Wife's iPad doesn't have the app issue. Every app looks right on the device. This is a decent, solid entry level 10" tablet from a "major" manufacturer at a more then competitive price. If you can live with the above small issues, I'd say go for it. I don't regret buying mine and it's serving it's purpose well.

    I love my tab!

I use my tab mostly for light internet surfing, IMs, and games. I'm amazed at the ease and functionality if small apps that would take long installs and downloads on a conventional computer. The battery lasts for hours even when I'm running games. I don't have to plug it in or run around with heavy equipment to use it anywhere in the house. It doesn't replace my pc but it sure gives it a rest! My only complaint is I get fat finger syndrome when I type on it and my fingers aren't fat. I also wanted to draw on it but I need to buy a special expensive stylus for that.

Great Tablet with which to start and to Keep

I do enjoy the sleek design of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. This tablet is a gift to myself. I am slowly learning my way around this tablet, taking my time and enjoying the process. I intend to use/explore Netflix, Mint.com, g-mail, online banking, navigation, google search, CNN, MSNBC, and Medscape to name just a few. I travel a 60-mile radius on a daily basis,a PC and a smart phone are my two main devices. I do not own a laptop. This tablet will serve to keep me connected and entertained daily, while I am away from home. I hope to soon purchase a mobile device to keep connected without searching for wireless locations.

Bought for my 72 yr old grandmother so she could Skype with the family and so she could use Internet more easily than her laptop. She even at her age was able to figure everything out within hours. She loves it and can't imagine having any other product. Perfect for all ages. I am actually contemplating trading in my iPad for one. I'm sick of having to use iTunes to do something as simple as transferring pics and other media. This product is the whole drag and drop concept. Love it

Went in for an iPad, but...

    Posted .

I went in originally to buy the iPad 2 since I needed a tablet for work, and didn't feel like investing a lot of money on the "new" iPad. Honestly, I felt like I had to buy the iPad because there are a lot more accessories geared towards the iPad than any other tablet. So, I walk over to the iPad section and there are a bunch of people playing with them. I decide to look around and wait until the crowd dwindled. And that is when I saw the Samsung Galaxy tab all by it's lonesome. The bright display and widgets immediately caught my attention and since I'm already a droid user, it was easy for me to navigate through the system. I asked a sales rep how much it was, and he said it was 399. I didn't jump on it YET, but went to play with the iPad and was not sold. I fell in love with the Galaxy tab and it's opportunity to expand it's memory with a micro SD card, something you can't do on an iPad. It's easy to use and not to mention it's battery life is awesome.

    Great Tablet at Excellent Price

    Posted .

The sleek design and feel is very good. Recently bought my wife an I-pad2 when the prices dropped (otherwise I think the I-pads, although excellent, are overpriced). I've only had the Galaxy a couple of days but it was very easy to set up right out of the box. I also own a Xoom and my apps were automatically downloaded to the new Galaxy. Email accounts were easy to setup. Battery life appears excellent. I find the build to be very good plus it will be in a folio so not sure there should be much concern on this point. Sounds quality, like most tablets is adequate but not great. Have speakers on each side of screen wich contribute to good volume which is easily controlled by the rocker volume control. Screen resolution seems very good. I've watched one movie and thought it was excellent. I was particularly interested in the fact you could easily add a micro SD to double or triple the memory. I suspect if you are a hard core gamer, the dual core system may not be up to the task but for watching media, surfing he web, emai, etc. it is more than adequate. The price is great for tablet with these features.

Personally, I really liked this tablet even though I eventually upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I did however buy another galaxy tab 2 as a gift. These tablets give you access to the Google app store and the Samsung app store, between the two you can find virtually any app for free. The battery last around 8 hours unless you play a lot of games then 4 to 6 hours. A few online tech companies have given this tablet bad reviews based on screen definition but with a ten inch screen its hard to notice. Think about buying a tv, most tvs are 720p until you get around 40 inch screen because there is just no reason for 1080p in a smaller screen. Regardless, I strongly recommend this tablet for anyone who wants a reliable tablet at an affordable price.

    Really Great Tablet

    Posted .

I had an unfortunate Best Buy experience when purchasing this. I had looked at this and the Note 10.1 but when i got to the store I was uncertain which was which. I've always found Best Buy staff to be knowledgeable so I asked and was told there was very little difference. He assured me they both had all the same features and that the Note just had a slight upgrade to the display and speed. I specifically asked about the stylus features and he said yes, the Tab has all that. I stupidly applied the screen protector before using it so now I'm stuck with it. Really if Samsung would just try some more differences in naming there would be no confusion. It's lightweight. very easy to use if you're familiar with Android. May be a bit of learning curve if it's your first Android. I like the display but it is not as good as the iPad display, something to consider if that's what's most important to you. This one is just fine for me. Video streams smoothly. Audio is acceptable but not great. Better with good headphones than built in speakers.Games play smoothly also. There is a little lag in opening apps but not enough to interfere with use. It comes with some good apps like Polaris Office and DropBox. Not nearly the bloatware phones come with. Neither front nor rear camera is very good, No flash. The front video camera is barely acceptable for video chat, certainly nothing more. I have a camera and a decent phone camera so don't see myself taking photos with this. I like that you can easily increase memory by adding an SD card. I've had no issues with freezes or crashes. The onscreen keyboard also works smoothly and is easy to use.GPS features work great and it comes with Google Maps. Overall, it's worth the price and an enjoyable experience for me.
