    A nice tablet

    Posted .

Make no mistake, this thing IS a large Galaxy S phone, without the phone function. That is both good and bad, I'll try to hit on the biggest points. Good... -Its more portable than the ipad. Small enough to fit in large pockets and purses, but still large enough to make reading excellent, it's also small enough to hold in one hand. The iPad can't be pocketed or comfortably help in one hand. -Strong, responsive, and fingerprint restant screen. -Decent battery life, though nowhere near the iPad. -All the benefits of Android 2.2, true multitasking, Adobe Flash, able to run non-market apps, the full Android marketplace. Other benefits are a matter of opinion, but if you're a fan of Android it's all here. -Samsung did a decent job of adapting the calendar, email, and contacts apps to take advantage of the larger screen. -Front and rear cameras for picture, video, and video chatting. -Unlike the iPad Android apps not designed for the Tab look fine, thanks to the smaller screen and higher pixel density. This means that you really do get the entire Android marketplace at release, unlike the iPad where you had to wait for iPad versions. -Since it is so similar to the Galaxy S phones, it has already been rooted if you enjoy unlocking features carriers and Samsung don't want you to have. - The bad... -Aside from the calendar, email, and contacts apps there aren't any apps that take advantage of the Tab yet. Most are simply regular Android apps scaled up. -Android is clearly not designed for Tabs.that's not to say it doesn't work, but Many features feel awkward or outright don't work on the Tab. Its very obvious that Samsung has chosen to simply slap a smartphone OS on a tablet rather than take the iPad approach and properly convert it. -Currently there is no WiFi only Tab. You must buy at least one month of data service along with your tab, otherwise it will be stuck on the activation screen (another carry over from Android being made for smart phones). Some carriers also try to lock you into a two year contract, which is ridiculous for a Tablet. -The Sprint version only has 2GB of internal storage (some of which is taken up by preinstalled apps and the OS, so it's actually even less.) While this is eased thanks to an expandable SD card slot, not all apps can be installed to the SD. The ATT and TMobile version at least have 16gb. At this point the only real tablets are the iPad and the Galaxy Tab. Sadly neither offers a full set of features, so it's down to picking the one that suits your needs best. I tried to hit on the important points, but it may be best for you to go into a store and test out an iPad and Galaxy Tab. Verizon and ATT both sell them side by side, so that's an easy way to get a good comparison (even if you don't buy it from them).

    Galaxy Tab Delivers

    Posted .

The Galaxy Tablet delivers on my personal definition of a tablet. A tablet should have all of the features of a high end cell phone, but should be larger in order to provide a better viewing and typing experience. It should be small enough (listen up Apple) so that you can type and hold it at the same time. It should also have enough horse power to operate smoothly without making you wait. Well, the Galaxy tablet delivers superbly on all of the above. For those who say it's just a Galaxy S Phone but larger, I say "so what?". What additional features were you expecting? The Android operating system is intuitive and easy to use, and there are numerous cool apps available to download. Some of my favorite features and apps include GPS Navigation, Voice Recognition, Google Sky Map, UPC Bar Code Scanner, Instant Weather/Finance/News, Facebook App, and E-mail (of course). It seems like there's virtually nothing this thing can't do. Here's my summary of the pros and cons: Pros: - Great size for holding and typing at the same time. - Beautiful screen. - Fast response time. - Easy to use. - You don't need a cell contract to use it. - Has a camera (good for optical recognition in addition to photos/videos). Still listening Apple? - Supports Flash Video. - Runs Android. Cons: - It's a fingerprint magnet. - Battery life could be better. - A little pricey. - You have to be connected to a network in order to use the Google Maps Navigation. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with this purchase. I would highly recommend it.

    Awesome tablet-beats the I-phone!!!

I've had my Galaxy Tab for about 2 weeks now and my fiance' got an I-pad at the same time. This made for an easy comparison and also made it obvious which was better, in my opinion! Pros: runs Flash, Android apps (and yes, you can find A LOT of good ones for free-including several music and video apps which will score you tons of free music/movies), Live wallpapers, and it really thin! Cons: the battery can run out pretty quick-especially if you're running a live wallpaper or several applications, have noticed a little lag with the screen and applications with certain apps and wallpapers Although you only have the choice of the Android market and not the supposed variety of the Apple apps, I was able to get a lot more cool apps that I paid absolutely nothing for- than my Fiance could on his I-pad. I can also tether my Tab to my computer-which my Fiance cannot do(unless he "jailbreaks" his I-pad) and this allows me to take it to school and pull almost any file I need without having to carry around my bulky laptop! The fact that I can view Flash really helps too!

    Samsung Galaxy - Impressive!

    Posted .

This is the first tablet I've own and I'm very impress. I've played w/ the iPAD but the size of iPAD was not ideal for me. So when the Samsung Galaxy Tab came out, I went and checked it out and I liked it from the get go. Pros: Size - literraly can fit in the back of your jeans pocket or cargo pants Navigation - you can put this on the car's dashboard and use as a navigation device. Try doing that w/ the iPAD without obstructing your view. Screen - so vibrant. I'm able to watch HD movies with same clarity as my HD tv. Flash - You can view flash related websites on the go. Camera - yup. Front and back! Access point - this was and still the biggest selling point to me. I don't have to have the $8 airport WiFi access anymore whenever I'm travelling. I can use my tablet as access point for my laptop, my wife's laptop and anyone else I give access to. I had 3 connected to it on my recent trip and the speed was great. No annoying adds either. Cons: Apps - not as big as Apple. I wish the Facebook app for this is the same as the iPhone Publicity - does not get as much publicity as iPAD Accessories - again not much. I would say the ratio is 1 tablet accessory to 50 iPAD accessories. Hopefully that will change. Model own: Samsung Galaxy Tab (T-Mobile) Thanks for reading.

Looking for a tablet? Galaxy is the clear winner!

    Posted .

I have expereiced hands on the Samsung Galaxy, the iPad, and the Nook Color. The Galaxy crushed it in every category for me. The iPad was a close second. Your choice of tablet will really depend on your primary use. If you are an avid reader, then less expensive tablets / ereaders such as the nook color are ideal. If you primarily want to surf the web and check email, the Galaxy is the best choice because the Galaxy tablet DOES utilize Flash. This is where Apple lost me. Apple currently does not support flash, which limits your web experience. Galaxy's smaller screen size makes it easier to operate and carry. The swype application is amazing. Input will never be the same. In addition to the apps installed on the tablet, the ever growing Android marketplace offers a wide variety of apps. The tablet will work just fine on WifI, you do NOT have to activate the 3G service if you do not want to commit another monthly fee.

I love my Samsung Galaxy Tablet

    Posted .

I purchased my tablet on 11/4/2010 from Best Buy. It came with the 16GB micro sd card. I signed up for the Sprint 3g service at $30 per month. I received a $50 voucher from Samsung for MediaHub rentals. I have downloaded several application, kindle books, bible, commentary, document-to-go, games, and movies. I compared it to the iPad. The iPad would have cost me $629 for a 16GB with wifi and 3g. I love the live wallpapers and the ability to send text and picture messages. I use the device to check all my email accounts, weather updates, contacts, and calendar. I sync my palm tx and cellphone contacts via bluetooth as well as my google calender. I used the advance task killer to stop the apps I am not using. I found a nice case and screen protector at Office Max. I am waiting on the keyboard I found online to become available in the US. I also purchased a 32gb micro card on ebay for $50. A 32gb iPad with wifi and 3g would cost $729. I love, love, love it. I will add my resume, and other documents to document-to-go or the memo pad.

    I love this tab

the samsung galaxy tab does it all. it plays avi. formatted movies right out the box. it has dlna so you can send movies, music and pics to a tv with built in dlna ( this app is great). I Know the standard goggle web browser is a little laggy but you can down load better browers such as skyfire (my favorite) hd daulphin, etc. that does not lag at all. plus i have an android phone (evo 4g), so when i purchase an app from the app store it shows up on both devices (how cool is that). it very portable and fast. the music app is all that( great job samsung). the gaming on here is awesome (asphalt 5, angry birds, radiant hd, pool break, dungoen defenders and many more and more are coming!) the email client is great and gives one that tablet expreience. this tab so rocks for all the bad reviews that it receive must be from apple lovers who just want to claim they have the best. Oh and the srceen is fantastic, i couldn't even imagine the quality of the super armoled screen that the galaxy was suppose to come with plus is going to get honeycomb 3.0 what more can i say " I LOVE THIS TAB"!!

    a sleeper

    Posted .

Having several tablets, I'm still amazed how this little tablet holds its own with the big dogs, flash, voice navigation, customization, and gingerbread. All the other Android tablets don't really offer more than screen size. YouTube runs great, web surfing is snappy, and its light fits in a pocket, and battery life is great if you know how to close applications. Camera has flash, and when I did have a playbook, this plastic(drawback) little guy put it to shame day after day. This tablet may be a bit dated but the technology it sports is what all the new tablets have, with all the technogarble, this thing gets things done. Plain and simple! Can't forget the expendable memory, 32gb micro SD in mine. I had some sluggishness at one time but reset it and runs as as smooth as my iPad2, NO LIE! Any i user would know that is a bold statement, and believe me I can judge the difference!!! Notification bar up top all the time lets you know what's going on all the time(so good Apple is doing it with iOS 5) gorilla glass, front facing camera, and if you get a chance and can afford it, get a carrier, I have Sprint and it costs me only $29 a month to get connected just about anywhere. Load movies on your microSD and you have all the media you can handle. Now with cloud storage you can work and play at the same time. All document apps in Android market work flawlessly. With all the overpriced tablet mistakes on the market today, you can't go wrong with this pinch to zoom in and out, double tap to zoom in and out little guy. Honestly I think Samsung tipped its hand and kick themselves for making the perfect Android tablet first time out. Its the sleeper of the tablet era! Don't let the ugly plastic casing fool you. Kindle e-reader, movies, remembers passwords if you want, predictive text if you want, and syncs to a laptop like a dream. This tablet will.speak.for.itself if you were to run applications and send mail and surf the net like the dual core big boys.

    I love the Galaxy Tab!

    Posted .

I had been waffling about buying an Ipad for more than a year now. When Galaxy Tab came out the first thing I noticed about it is that I could get one that would work with whoever my cellular provider is - unlike Ipad that forces you to get a contract with AT&T or to forgo 3G coverage. That, right there, makes this a better device than IPad in my opinion. I've only had it for a day, but what I like about it right off is the size. It's exactly the same size as Barnes and Noble's Nook or Amazon's Kindle. That makes it more convenient to carry around. The screen and the apps are all awesome. The battery life is at least as good as Ipad, but no where near as good as Nook or Kindle. So, e-reader fans - beware of that! As a former Nook owner, I also really like it that I can have booth the Nook app and Amazon's app. I love being able to watch videos on it. This is going to be very handy when I travel!

    This product Rocks!!

    Posted .

I've read the other reviews and I was a little tepid about purchasing it. When it went on sale, I was pleasantly surprised at the features. I purchased the black tie coverage and it discounted the unit even more. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Tons of apps, user friendly, comes with an extra memory card. My only con is that the speakers could be a little louder, however that being said, I am hard of hearing so I can't really complain. It is probably the right amplitude for normal hearing. I can't find one thing wrong with it.. I havn't even used my laptop since i bought this!

    Love it Sold Ipad!!!

I love this product. I sold my Ipad for this blazing fast tablet. For all you women who would like to read your books and can carry ALL of your books right in your purse. Very portable and the color is amazing. Some of my pictures look so real that you feel you are really there. It works off Google so all your information is always available at your fingertips. Ipad? What Ipad? Better graphics! You can watch high definition videos on YouTube and never miss your favorite team with live coverage of sporting events on select Android Applications. Many games are either free or less then $1.00. Love my Galaxy Tablet.... The only issue I have is sometimes it crashes but I think that is me doing something much faster then I am supposed to! You will love it!!!

    Totally portable web tab.

If you're like me you know you want your technology everywhere you go. That's why I chose the Samsung Galaxy Tab. This is not a review to bash apples tab but after using the apple tab especially lying down, the corners of the Ipad will start to dig into the palms of my hand from it's weight, a few nights of using the Ipad you could actually start getting pain in my hands, some of you know what I'm talking about. The Samsung tab is perfect as far as weight and portability is concerned. Also I think Anodroid has more of a robust OS and will get much better in the not so distant future. Samsung is a wonderful brand you can rely on, I love my Samsung Tab!!!

    I am addicted!

    Posted .

This tablet is so fun to use! It is so small that it fits in my labcoat. It has been banged around a lot but looks new. The screen is so crisp and sharp. Downloads from Android Market are very fast (slow for Verizon apps though). Ultimately convenient to have traffic, weather, GPS, music, video, camera, games, Internet, Email, facebook and Kindle at my fingertips!! Only drawback- battery life (of course), and not enough cute cases to hold this little cutie in! Oh, and the back of it gets warm after a while of use.

    Better than Ipad

    Posted .

I just sold my ipad for this tablet! Great apps, great picture quality and it has FLASH! I agree with the other customer who posted a comment regarding publicity. This tablet needs more publicity. You pay less for more versus an ipad which is almost mortgage payment if you're wanting the 3G model. Love it! If you're looking for something affordable that can do what your laptop does. I would definitely recommend this tablet. I paid $150 for the tablet at Bestbuy through sprint (new customer). $60/month for 5g data. Awesome deal!

I have been waiting for this product to hit the store since September when I first heard about it. I liked the IPad but wanted more than they had to offer. With the Samsung Galaxy Sprint I got it. Was disappointed when I couldn't use Skype but getting use to using Qip instead. Still a good trade-off. I haven't found anything that I dislike about it yet. Viewing photo's is awsome. I learn more of the capabilities each day I use it. Awsome, Awsome, Awsome!!!

    Amazing Tab

    Posted .

I bought the Galaxy tab mainly to help with school. I wanted something versatile that had an e-reader capabilities(relies on Kindle marketplace) so that I can put my books for class on it, as well as being able to take notes on it and surf the net. My only complaint about the Galaxy is that you can't simply just buy a Galaxy as it is-you have to buy it with either the Sprint or Verizon trademarks and software installed on the system which is slightly ridiculous(that's about the only credit I give Apple's iPad ).

I own a EVO and this is no phone! Played with the Ipad, very impressed with the product and it set the bar! The tab gives the same access and is as user friendly. Pick your poison, its about choice. I have a imac and a touch, but the android is a phenom in the making! No need to whine if its not for you, but a very solid product with battery life and nice bells and whistles that only you as purchaser can enjoy!!
