Very good tablet 1 more thing to make it excellent

Very good tablet.. I have been looking for a replacement for my Note 7 and even my surface pro could not compete for editing PDF files without buying good software to do so. When my screen cracked on my surface I could almost buy 2 of these for the price to replace just the screen so when I saw this I bought it right away. Out of the box I was editing and marking up PDF drawings and sharing them. The S pen and snote is AWESOME. The screen is also outstanding but you wouldn’t expect anything less from Samsung. The sound quality is also very good. Battery life is very good. I use it for meeting at work and some reading so I can get a week from it but normal days use you should get 2-3 days. I can judge heavy use because I don’t play games on it which brings me to the first con. 16 gig of storage. Not enough. Out of all the apps I loaded only 2 gave me the option to store data on my sd card and one of them was the camera so 16 gig got consumed real fast. The other is that the os is 6.0. Still very good but my note 7 was android 7 and my s7 now has android 7. This is really not a big con since 6.0 was very good. I would have given it 5 stars if there was a 32 gig version at the time I bought this. In short if you are going to use this for reading and just a few programs or to view pictures and music then put a card in and you will have a wonderful tablet with awesome pen capabilities. If you like a bunch of games and storing a lot of programs then you may want to wait for a 32 gig version or go with another tablet without a pen.

Upgrading my old Samsung Note 10.1

I loved my old Samsung Note 10.1 tablet and really wanted to replace it (it was getting a bit slow and apps I used were no longer supported) with a newer version. Key to me was the size 10" and the integrated s-pen. The Tab A was the latest version that fit the bill and I love it. The latest Android operating system combined with the faster processor leaves nothing behind. I moved my 32GB memory card and instantly had my music and videos at hand.

The pen makes it easy to write and draw. I've already drawn up plans to build a piece of furniture for my kitchen. Was able to take it with me to the limber yard, show it to them and make adjustment to the pictures right there without any problems. I also made lists of material I would need. I even made a few other list that were important. It's a great little computer. I've even taken notes at a few work meetings with it. I bought a case with a hand strap to help hold the computer, so I can stand and use the computer without fear of dropping it. I don't go any where without it!

I bought this tablet for its S Pen capability. I wanted a specific tablet dedicated to drawing and this was the tablet for me. I bought this over the Galaxy Tab S3 because of its screen size and affordability. I haven't explored the rest of the tablet yet. I haven't experienced any lag or heat issues so far when using this tablet. The colors are ok. I am used to using Galaxy Tab S2, so this does feel a bit bulky. Overall, I am happy to have this tablet and I've been using it as my go-to tablet for portable digital drawings. FYI: Galaxy Tab S3's S Pen WORKS on this tablet.

Worthwhile upgrade to Tab A 9.7 S Pen

There's a lot about this new tablet that I like better than my Tab A 9.7. It's faster; the screen is better; it seems to have a more solid Wi-Fi connection in the difficult spots in my house. But that being said, I wouldn't suggest to anyone with the 9.7 that it was going to be an earth shattering upgrade, and if you prefer the 4:3 aspect ration to the 16:10 (as I do) you might want to stay put. Personally, I'm glad I made the switch. The new screen is beautiful, and while the page for written text is narrower, it is also longer, more like a legal sheet than a standard 8.5x11 note pad. It works for me, but you need to know what you are getting. Samsung's book cover to it, while pretty good in its own right, is a step down from the near perfect cover for the Tab A 9.7. I you have the money and are itching for an upgrade, or have someone to whom you can give the 9.7, I would say go for it as long as the 4:3 aspect ration is not vital to you. I thought I would miss it more than I do. I suspect I will enjoy the wider screen and better resolution watching video on a trans-Pacific flight in a few months. Both the 9.7 and 10.1 have great battery life, and with Wi-Fi off in airplane mode you can get a lot of video mileage from this device. Speakers are fine, though they would be better at the top. Sitting in bed with the device propped up the speakers can be muffled. Of course turn the tablet over with rotation enabled solves the problem. Having them both on one edge doesn't bother me: let's face it, you aren't going to get great stereo separation by moving them to opposite sides of a six inch device. Plug in your headphones if you need it. I had a problem with the Touchwiz launcher hiding my app icons and being unable to access the settings. Since I prefer Nova Launcher, which solved the problem, it wasn't a big deal for me. If it would be for you, you might want to look online to see what sorts of problems and fixes others have encountered.

I'm happy with this tablet, that's replacing one I've had for many years. It has a larger screen, and weighs much less. The programs that came with the tablet, and those that I've installed, run smoothly. The S pen is fun to use in my art programs. I feel that I made a good choice.

I was interested in upgrading my iPad Mini 4 lte to an iPad Pro 10.1, but also knew I had other financial obligations coming soon, so decided on this tablet. Everything in my home is Apple, but I took a leap with this Android device, and I’m very pleased. Android runs smooth on this device, battery life is amazingly good, and having access to apps I once used on other Android device is great. I’m in management for a local museum, meetings and notes are inevitable. Using the included S Pen with note taking apps and even Samsung’s apps is an added bonus I didn’t expect. I’m very happy I saved $300-$400 dollars buying this tablet.

The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is the hard drive size. The pen is great and works well. The screen is very nice. And the battery - WOW. I charge it once a week but use it every day. Performance is great as well. Be warned though, it is heavy. I think it is form the battery. It is considerably heavier than any other tablet I have had, but is also so much better in performance and usability.

I've been waiting for this Samsung - Galaxy Tab A (2016) - 10.1 - 16gb With S Pen - Black. The s-pen was the clincher for me. I needed a new way to take notes and drawings - this is wonderful. At first the tiny (included) s-pen was awkward, but now it's a breeze to use. I use OneNote for my note taking. I tried the Samsung Note application - nice application and features. This tablet is nice and FAST. It also have very nice battery life. GREAT product. And the sale price at Best Buy was great.

Tablet is pretty speedy for the price. Very nice big screen and moves goes through apps pretty fast. The pen is what really makes this thing shine. Love the pen. This pen lets you draw on the tablet with a surprisingly good level of accuracy. Makes games like drawful and you don't know jack a lot more fun.

Overkill for a Mother, but awesome!

This was a Christmas gift for my mother as she was wanting something a bit bigger than her old one, and also much much faster. Her old one was definitely a piece of s***, to say the least. This is overkill for her, and for the price it was definitely not what she needed, but she loves it to death. I don't see too much use for the S pen though, since she doesn't do much note taking or drawing, etc, but it works fantastic. I love it to scribble down notes for her every now and then. It's very accessible and easy to use, very precise. I'm happy for her being happy, but for what it is being used for, it's definitely overkill. This has more than she will ever need, and for that I'm not quite 100% happy with it due to me spending more money than necessary. But I got her this one as she really wanted a tablet with more power and bigger screen size, and it was the only one available to get before Christmas.

Good replacement for my Tab Pro 12.2

I bought this to replace my Tab Pro 12.2 which I loved to death. The Tab A (2016) 10.1 (with S Pen) has 50% more RAM (3 GB versus 2 GB) than the newest Tab A 10.1 tablet and has the S Pen of course. So the extra $50 was worth it. With lots going on you need that extra RAM. And the S Pen is really great when viewing web pages when you need to click on a really small link or button. I knocked a star off for some relatively small points in design. First the speakers are both on one end. I watch a lot of video and always in landscape so having both speakers on one end is dumb. The navigation buttons likewise are also at one end. That would make much more sense if this was a phone but,,, its not! It is a tablet and landscape is the default viewing position for tablets. I also miss the better resolution of the Tab Pro 12.2 and the additional 16 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately the newer 12 inch Tab Pros are Windows 10 and I wanted to stick with Android. All in all if I hadn't been spoiled by the Tab Pro 12.2 I would be less aware of these minor negatives. This tablet did update to Android 7.0 (Nougat) within a few weeks of purchase so this is a pretty up to date device and this tablet also has great battery life. All in all a very nice tablet for the size.

This is a great buy! I know good tablets because I previously had the best android tablet (according to ratings and websites) for it's time. This tablet was a replacement for my old android and works fantastic for what I need. I use a tablet for shopping apps, jw library app, internet browsing,tv, shopping, reading... all pretty light things but perfect for this tablet. The battery is AMAZING when not in use. It is pretty normal when in use but not horrific. I love the size so I can read without issues and watch shows clearly. The s-pen is nice to use and very responsive. You can even recognize your own handwriting with the pen too! The screen is not as high quality as an Apple screen but it's still very good for the price. I've never owned a Samsung so I was pleasantly surprised with this tablet! I'm happy with my purchase!

I've been an apple lover for quite sometime now....but I have to tell you, this tablet is amazing...my 10 year old absolutely loves this tablet...its fast, it looks amazing, its big, the S-pen very sensitive and reliable, and its size makes it perfect for business, school or entertainment...The Octa-core processor makes the perfect combination of fast performance and power efficiency. It allows rapid multitasking, delivers smooth response and unleashes stunning graphics,,,I bought it for $249.00 during the black Friday deals...it has expandable storage up to 256GB with a microSD card...plenty of cases online...if you don't care about the S-pen then buy it without it, you could save a buck or two...battery is strong and durable, first charge lasted about 14 hours...or a couple of days for us of use...
