Reasonably priced midrange Android WIFI tablet!

Although the popularity of Android tablets has diminished some in the last few years, there's still a good market for a moderately priced wifi entry to use for light-duty word processing and email checking. The Galaxy Tab A 10.1" fits the bill.
The Tab A offers a slightly oddly placed rear camera (upper corner), and a phone-like vertical orientation intent with USB-C connector at the bottom. That makes using the tablet in a horizontal orientation a bit awkward. I opted *not* to purchase the Samsung-branded case, as reviews and experience from another purchaser indicates it is flimsy and easily breakable. I opted for a third-party case and Bluetooth keyboard, which work well.
The screen and colors are more than adequate and vibrant for this price range, and its wifi performance is similarly good. I'd opt for the 32GB model over the 16GB module, and I do wish a stylus were available.
The only real downsides are that the tablet comes with only a standard charger, and supports neither wireless nor "fast" charging.
Overall, at its price point (especially when on its occasional sale), this is an excellent tablet value.

This new Tab A had proven to me to be an amazing value, especially when on sale like I caught it. It performs well at just about anything including running the best android games. The one thing I didn't expect but, was so happy about, is the battery life. On more than one occasion, I've left it on for two days, while it downloads movies, and pick it up to watch a short video or something and afterwards it's still at 100%. It's a similarly excellent experience with battery life when constantly using it. I needed good battery life because I take it to work and have long shifts and the Tab A gave me above and beyond by a long shot.
You should also consider purchasing an SD card if you plan to store much media on it like I do. I got a nice one on sale at Best Buy.

Awesome tablet with great picture. Responds pretty fast when switching from app to app. Battery life on it is great too, can go days of using it without needing to charge it. Would recommend it.

Good battery life. Opens apps quickly. Screen is clear and bright. 2gb of ram seems low these days. Camera is not the best but it's seldom used. 32gb of storage seems like it may not be enough, but remains to be seen. Little on the heavy side. Very nice for sale price of 180 dollars

Got this tablet for my 9 year old son's birthday. Battery life last about a whole day on heavy usage. It's light and the 10.1 screen is a good size for gaming and school activities. He loves it!

Pros: 1. compact but still large enough to show the details on the screen yet easy to carry.
2. Fast - enough OK it is not the fastest but things load fast enough where you don't drum your fingers.
3. Clear bright screen: I got the glass screen protector which makes it even better.
Cons: Service: 1. Samsung is lousy. The only reason I bought this one is I sent my Galaxy 10.4 2014 in for service and I finally got it back after 5 months and 4 hours on phone calls to their service dept. It arrived 2 days after I picked up this tabA.
2. Get a case - Like All the Samsungs I own, they are designed to slip out of your hands - terrible smooth cases. they need to learn from camera mfgs. to at least make them hard to drop.
3. Get extra memory - Samsung loads these up with their "bundle" of useless apps that you cannot delete.

I won't purchase from Best Buy again. They are too expensive and most of the staff are teenage d!cks that want to talk down to anyone who isn't at the cutting edge of technology. They live with their moms so they can afford that stuff. Hudge screen on the Samsung Tab A. I got a nice sturdy case and screen protector online. I have Google as my search engine right now. It's simple to use. I mainly cruise the net and some Facebook. Mostly want to download books while isolating from Thunderdome. So far no problems. Joyful I got money back on the Amazon junk it was absolutely squirrely. Ton of weird glitches. Satisfied with Tab A and looking in to adding memory.

I’m a Apple girl haven’t much really used android. I chose this because my Step mom bought it for my nephews who are currently using them for school durning this pandemic with schools being closed.
Anyways she said amazing battery and she was right. She said quick to respond and she was right. No lag what so ever anywhere. I work multiple sites at a time with no issue. I do coaching as well sometimes call and sometimes video stuff. I type up things while listening to music and social media. This thing really works flawlessly for everything I need and use it for. The screen is a nice size. I only change once every 2 to 4 days depending on use. Very happy with purchase.

Great tablet and it is quick too, using for mail and news apps plus other things. Charge last a long time, which is very important. A good value have added 256 additional storage, so lots of room.

For the low end of the Samsung tablets price wise, this one is tops in my book. Not a thing wrong with it as far as I can tell. Although I have never owned the most expensive or fanciest of tablets, this one can do everything I need it to do without spending 4 times as much. I bought one for myself and one for my son and he likes his tablet as much as I like mine. My son is an electronic geek and when he rates something as high as he rated his own tablet, I know it is something good and worth buying. I don't believe you can go wrong purchasing this tablet - just as long as you don't expect it to wash the dinner dishes or iron your shirts!

Upgrading from a 2015 Tab a to this 2019 Tab a and what a difference it is.
It comes stock with Pie 9.0 so you get the latest and greatest. As a Tab A, don't expect much. This is a baseline model for anyone who doesn't plan to do much other than watch videos, play mobile games, shop online or surf the web.
Only having it for a day at the time of this review (April 29, 2019) I have noticed a few things:
Audio Jack-in-the-box
One reason you'd choose this over the other higher line Galaxy Tabs is the audio jack. The newer models have removed them so you would need a dongle. The placement is also at the top so if you are used to plugging at the bottom then you'll need to remember that when using it at night.
Side buttons-
(More like a pet peeve) The volume and power buttons are located at the top right of the tablet. They are close together enough that you may mistake volume up for power when going by sight
Cameras-
Haven't tested the cameras
SD card-
As with SIM cards, the SD card will require the special pin to push the cover off to access it. If you plan to save a lot of data, pics or install apps then you will need to choose the 64gb or, as I will do, get a large capacity SD card for the 32gb model.
Screen size-
Compared to my older Tab A, this has a more theater style resolution. The bezel is noticeably smaller at almost hard to notice as you use. Especially in landscape mode.
Bottom buttons-
The lower home, back, and recent buttons are all on screen now. With pie 9.0 you have the option to pick two modes.
Mode 1 is always displayed with the ablitly to change the order of the buttons.
Mode 2 is hidden. You will see three grey blurs at the bottom of the screen. Swiping up once over that area of the grey shade displays or activates that option (swipe up over middle for home, over right for back, etc). If you swipe and hold it gives the same effect as long pressing the key.
There is no flash for the camera, fingerprint reading, facial recognition is an option and so forth.
One thing I did notice is that the small bezel makes it hard to hold the tablet in landscape mode without touching the screen without a cover. I plan to buy one that comes with a small hand strap when they produce one for this specific model.
Overall, if you want the latest Tab, plan to just be a basic user with low demanding tasks and don't want to break the bank then I'd suggest the 32gb version and add the SD card to fit you needs. If you know you will be downloading or saving a lot then I suggest the 64 or higher version.
I shall update the review as time goes on.
[UPDATE]
It appears the auto sleep and auto on feature for certain magnetic covers is gone. So you won't be able to open up and have the screen turn on or close and shut off. Not happy now.

I bought this tablet on November and took the time to see if it was actually worth the reviews I saw over the internet. Let me tell you they are right for the price and size its a pretty comfortable. It's screen resolution is nice, they even have a option for extra brightness when your outside. Battery can last about a day I do mostly YouTube and games (depending on your usage). It's virtual keyboard it's awesome it includes the CTR+ options which I never seen on any other tablet. It weight and thickness are comfortable not to heavy not to light. The design it's 10/10 makes it look like a expensive one. I definitely recommend this tablet.

Much to like about this tablet but there are a few misses too. It has a speedy processor and the display is crisp and detailed. Battery life is decent. Kudos to Samsung for quickly getting the Android 10 update for this.
What I don’t like are the very mediocre sounding speakers that are both on the one side, as if most people prefer portrait mode and not landscape mode for viewing. If you are watching a video you will be disappointed with this layout. That is a big miss in my book. I have the original Galaxy Tab that is now almost 10 years old and they got it right with that model. It also had better sounding speakers. And if you plan on video chatting/conferencing the camera is off on the other side and makes it a bit skewed as when you are centered for the camera your perspective is off center for viewing. It is a very good value for the money and seems well built otherwise.

We went for the 10.1 in. Gave it as a Mother’s Day gift and we liked it so much were getting two more for ourselves. Great price not as heavy as my iPad so highly recommend getting a case it’s super light weight. Camera is decent. Response time is great, easy to use.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a product I love to use and also recommended to others to experience. I f I need to change my tab, or would want to upgrade, I will still pick Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019) 10.1". The product screen touch is responsive excellently and all operational apps also respond as expected. The camera is superb and the battery life is encouraging.

Overall I do like it and it works much faster than my older Samsung Galaxy Tablet. However my main issue is the size. It is too large to comfortably hold and next time I upgrade I will go for the one the same size as my previous tablet. Initially the larger screen size was super nice but almost dropped it a few times due to it being too large to comfortably hold. A large screen won't be good if broken. I love the picture quality on the rear facing camera. Much better than my previous tablet and now I can upload photos directly to my Instagram instead of taking them with my digital camera, putting the photos on my desktop then emailing them to myself to add to Instagram like I had on my previous tablet. In reality I give this a 4.8 stars. It's a great tablet overall except for a couple little problems.
