Purchased for a 9 year old who outgrew the kindle tablet. He is over the moon about it. I toyed with it for a bit. Screen resolution seems great for the price, responds quickly and was light weight. I had a previous generation that slowed down a lot when the memory was reached even with external memory. I’ll see how this performs before getting one for myself but it seems great for a kid. I’d recommend this depending on the purpose

Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a great choice

I purchased my Samsung Galaxy Tab A (new version) to replace my broken 6 year old Tab 3. The advertised purchase price was $179.99 but I was pleasantly surprised when the saleslady returned with the Tab A and informed me that I was getting a $50 discount. Setup was straightforward and simple since I already owned various Galaxy products and already had a Google account. All of my apps installed without a hitch and I used the Samsung app "Smart Switch" to transfer all of my pictures (camera and downloads) from my Galaxy S8+ smartphone to the new tablet. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that Android 8.1 was installed instead of the advertised 7.1 version. I originally debated over which tablet to purchase; Tab A, Tab S2, Tab S3? Since I didn't require the power or features of the S2 or S3 plus the cost was outside of my budget, I decided on the Tab A. So far I don't regret my choice at all. It suits my needs just fine and I highly recommend this tablet.

I have to say that the tablet does everything that it was advertised to do, but I find myself wondering why I bought it. It's not the tablet's fault, it seems to be a good, well-made product. But it, so far, is just a bigger Android phone, without cell service. I have found it useful to use Acorn, on the tablet and cast it to my Android TV, since Acorn hasn't adapted its app for the TV. If I didn't own a Kindle, I would read books on it. I found that there is no handy way to hold it to read or watch TV on it. I bought a case so that I could put it on the table, in landscape mode, and watch baseball and hockey, but to hold it in portrait mode and use it as a reader is not comfortable. I like having a tablet, as a luxury, but it doesn't provide anything necessary. It can use the included Microsoft Office 365 (Trial Version installed) but you definitely would need a keyboard (bluetooth available) to keep your sanity. Overall, it's fun, and it works well, but I have yet to find anything it does better enough to make it a necessity. It does everything an iPad Mini does, at half the price, but figure out what you want it for first.

I upgraded this tablet from an earlier, smaller Samsung tablet. Let me say, I love it. Everything is so smooth. And it easily transfers all of your data from your Samsung phone..( I have a Galaxy 9.)
It has a 32G hard drive capacity and a newer Android 7.0 operating system. That's important because newer apps only work on Android 5.0 n up.
Great item for price. You get quality for the price. Definitely will recommend!

What I Wanted

I needed a basic tablet with a decent amount of space to run all the apps that didn't fit on my phone. So far everything has run smoothly, I've barely put a dent in the storage, and most importantly, it was affordable. I don't have any other Samsung devices but apparently they sync up nicely with this if you do. I have another Android device that I was able to transfer my apps from easily. It was exactly what I wanted.

Upgrading from a 2015 Tab a to this 2019 Tab a and what a difference it is. It comes stock with Pie 9.0 so you get the latest and greatest. As a Tab A, don't expect much. This is a baseline model for anyone who doesn't plan to do much other than watch videos, play mobile games, shop online or surf the web. Only having it for a day at the time of this review (April 29, 2019) I have noticed a few things: Audio Jack-in-the-box One reason you'd choose this over the other higher line Galaxy Tabs is the audio jack. The newer models have removed them so you would need a dongle. The placement is also at the top so if you are used to plugging at the bottom then you'll need to remember that when using it at night. Side buttons- (More like a pet peeve) The volume and power buttons are located at the top right of the tablet. They are close together enough that you may mistake volume up for power when going by sight Cameras- Haven't tested the cameras SD card- As with SIM cards, the SD card will require the special pin to push the cover off to access it. If you plan to save a lot of data, pics or install apps then you will need to choose the 64gb or, as I will do, get a large capacity SD card for the 32gb model. Screen size- Compared to my older Tab A, this has a more theater-style resolution. The bezel is noticeably smaller at almost hard to notice as you use. Especially in landscape mode

Bought this tablet on sale to replace a worn out galaxy tab 4 7". For what it is, it is a very good tablet. Upgraded o.s., quick processor, convenient mobile size and feels well made. The only down size is the modest 2g ram memory. However, the memory is sufficient to do everyday activities (browsing, e-mail, streaming apps., etc.) and 32g of storage is plenty with options to expand. It is a good tablet.

I purchased this tablet as a first tablet and smart device for my grandparents for Christmas! I wanted something with a bigger screen for bigger buttons and simplicity. Setup was very easy and within a week they were using it everyday to Google search and play games on. They really like it, and I really like it as well. Price and specs were perfect, which made it the perfect Christmas present!

Overall I think this tablet was a good choice. I needed to upgrade my old galaxy tablet and was looking for a 32 gb this time as my previous one ran out of space quickly. This was an open box purchase and was within my budget. I have had it now for about 3 months and have had no issues with it. I love the smooth feel of the screen and the fact that the battery lasts a long time on a full charge. I do wish I could watch videos on full screen but I knew before buying about that change.

This small tablet functions well and is adaptable to many different types of users. Only two of the personnel at the site of purchase were trained at the advanced level of helping the consumer to use this tablet effectively. For an individual not accustomed to this technology, moving to the platform of support people from Samsung who helped considerably involved a phone call and the message exchanges by my home desktop computer.
I am still somewhat at a loss and terms of effectively utilizing this as an ingredient of my search and communications activities. The physical device seems to be outstanding in its design and performance. The efforts that Samsung is making to bridge the gap between diverse users and optimal use of the software is greatly appreciated. Presently I blame myself for the inadequacy of reaching optimal performance.

I recently purchased this tablet to replace my Amazon kindle fire tablet because it would no longer charge. It was a year old.
The Samsung tablet is easy to use and was a breeze to set up. It is very user friendly and the perfect size to read a book or do some work on. It connects to my printer so I dont even have to use my laptop if I dont want to.
Great product!

Very good WiFi and multi-tasking for this 4 Core CPU. Runs well and has good battery life. This is one of 3 Samsung tablets I own. The performance is snappy for only 2 GB of RAM. Display is not as bright as it could be at lower settings although it can be bright enough if you turn up the brightness if needed. Audio is loud enough for just one speaker to hear podcasts just fine. Works very well with my EZCast HDMI Display dongle using MiraCast with Samsung's "Video" app just fine. WiFi Direct works very well too with my other Samsung tablets to transfer files.

I bought this mainly for my child mainly to watch videos, play games, and watch netflix. I does all those well but one of the best features for kids is Samsung's Kids mode. This mode let me isolate a kid friendly secure space.
Besides that I also found lots of usage for myself. I especially like the integration with with my Samsung smart T.V. Overall I feel like this a great little tablet that offers good performance and does a lot at a low price point.

I purchased my new Samsung Tab A about 3 weeks ago. Although I am still exploring It's capabilities, it is very easy to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It also is small enough to carry in a medium size purse, which was one of my specifications when choosing a new tablet. I like it very much.
